if i had the reactions to react to 16 frame dashes, adon would have no chance with his 16 fraem jaguar kick. oh how i wish i was fuudo…
What’s riskier to Abel? To do a normal throw or to wait 14f in the opponent face when he is only +1 so when the wait is over he can finally start doing a normal that startups in 7f?
That’s why backdash statiscally beats blocking in this scenario.
Abel can punish instant overhead on hit with EX CoD… and it punishes Claw’s trip guard. So he can either do the 3 rekkas of EX CoD or even EX CoD FADC crHP U1 for 477~526 dmg (anywhere of the screen). So, yeah, instant overhead is risky as hell. It’s not half of what it used to be against him.
About CH vs Backdash thing… you are trying to OS after a CH. Now that’s different. Different to the point that I’ve never saw anyone doing it… because it’s much easier to just crLP/stLK OS crHK/stHP/crHP/CH. And you are still plus anyway. If you want to do a meaty CH (19f startup) on opponent’s wake up… sorry. But that it’s just not solid. It can work once or twice, but after that he will just buffer ultra/EX CoD and that’s it. It does seems to be worth it, not to mention the difficulty of doing it, specially with DWU in the game.
Abel and Rufus are the two worst matchup for Claw in this game. If Claw-Abel is just 4-6… well, then he is just fine for tournaments and you don’t need to counter pick said matchups.
But sadly, we all know that’s not true.
That EX CoD buff is real.
No point in beating around the bush… gonna just hard counterpick Abel w/ my Cammy lol.
I take back everything I said about the Abel match up. Haztlan was right. This match is 11-(-1) Abel.
#salty rant
Anyone having trouble with Adon matchup, check out my video, not cleanest game ever but getting w after the amount of mistakes i made either he doesnt know vega matchup or i did something right lol
what
the
fuck I just saw
Finally some insight on a match-up in this otherwise useless thread.
10/10 would watch again
I don’t mean to one-up or anything, but since we’re posting ‘eh’ matches, here’s one I thought was silly enough to warrant uploading. [If only because of the superman claw at the start, lol.]
I cry a little inside every time I play claw. He’s so slow to the point where a person like my self who played him in ST, A3, & CvS2 tries those tactics and they just don’t work in the game.
He’s the fastest overall in this game so. You’re dealing with adjusting to 4 overall. He’s certainly not like ST Vega.
Ride that cr.mk pony.
After years of playing this game, knowing every match up and to do what and to not do what in specific match ups, I realised my most fearsome MU is still Ryu. I still and still don’t know how to approach him, what to do to make the opponent respect you. In the battle screen, when I see my opponent plays Ryu, a huge fear fills my heart. You can’t kara pressure him. You can’t press the jump button, you can’t press cst.hp after he blocked your jump-in, as he will srk it. And with one srk you will eat the whole ultra. When you are in the corner and think "that’s my time to grab the filth, it turns out it was again srk or ex.tatsu. And there is no Zeus video against Daigo or Air or someone to guide me. I wouldn’t believe I could hate a fictional character this much.
Plays Vega in SF4 and complains about speed. Next you’re gonna complain that his kara throw doesn’t have more range than Ken’s.
I think he has taken Vega not having a 3 frame normal and rolls starting in 20 frames and izuna recovering in 31 frames to account while saying that. If you compare Vega to Ryu, yeah, Vega is slow. But if you look at how his normals are great, and compare reach to speed, his normals are fast.
Anyway, Ryu. Is there anyone who says “I’m very comfortable in that MU”?
The only time that I saw Zeus against Ryu he lost a match pretty bad using Claw then switched up to Dictator and won. IIRC in EVO2K13 he lost to Alex Valle too.
Reiketsu said that Daigo (back in AE2012) beat him using only medium kick and fierce punch buttons.
That matchup is pretty bad indeed. But not for the reasons that you pointed it out aside from the obvious “can’t jump at him”, as everything else has a solution.
Main problems are his hurtbox while crouching that makes him pretty much imune to EX FBA in the neutral game. So whiff punishing his crMK with crMP FBA is not an option. You have to use the slower crMK, which makes it considerably hard to do.
Also, you don’t have a good range in this matchup. In the crMP range is where his jiHP shines. So when you finally got to your “best” position you have to guess heavily between crMK or jiHP. You, me, nor anybody can focus to punish a whiffed crMK or air to air in case he jumps in at the same time. etc
What do you think would be the impact of adapting to sliding under him everytime he jumps in would be?
Him whiff punishing your slow ass slide with sweep everytime.
Oh, how I hate Ryu…
Sliding under a jump in is very risky, actually. I think everyone can punish it, people just don’t punish it because they are unfamiliar with.
Isn’t sliding under Bison’s jump usually safe though? I can’t recall for a fact.
Free stMK. He can OS his slide as well.
