Yeah, this was the overhaul people were expecting with Super. The number of new links, really really good new links he’s getting is crazy.

I would’ve been happy with cr.lk > cr.lp but they’re telling me you’re gonna be able to do:
cr.lk, cr.lp, f.lp > cr.mk xx ex danku

And it’ll be even crazier if they changed the recovery such that danku can be comboed after cr.mp or cr.mk.

About the bolded part, I doubt it. While I do see they got decreased recovery, there are no mentions that those two normals have increased hitstun, which is required to combo into DanK. I’m all for it if they can though.

I wonder if anything can link into Close s.MP, the one that would possibly be the very first MP/MK normal that has +8 on hit, IIRC.

If my Theory Fighter IV is correct, Dan can cl.s.MP > cl.s.FP xx Whatever certain people in the corner now. <____<

Edit: Also, what the fuck with cl.s.MP > cr.MP being a 4-frame link… that can’t be right… My copy of Theory Fighter IV is on the fritz…

Also, it doesn’t sound like hitstun is being increased, or startup on Danku being reduced so no cr.MP xx Danku or cr.MK xx Danku. Still, you won’t need it with these mammoth hit-confirms, and you’ll still be able to use them as an off-kilter frame-trap… I suppose.

So I’m curious, Gouken mainer here.

How do you guys feel about Dan gettin buffed? He’s originally made to be a joke of the cast. He’s goofy, and also a refreshing psuedo shoto. In fact, I would even say that him being a good character almost seems out of character. Most people pick him knowing that hes never going to be relatively “good”. With these buffs, he might rise in the tiers. Does that slightly ruin your fun with Dan? Knowing that you’re not taunting and beating your opponent with superior skills using the worst character?

I don’t regularly use Dan, and I feel like him gettin buffed kinda ruins the fun for me when I do use him :/. Then again I don’t main him.

You don’t have to be the worst character to be a joke character. Even a godlike Dan will still have his taunts and wacky U2/backdash animation.

Dan is getting crazy combo possibilities :open_mouth: ! Congrats dan mainers! I have been playing too much dan lately and the buffes suprised me, i think what was really necessary is the cr.lk>cr.lp>koryuken which we got now in AE :> !! cl.hp> heavy danku’s does decent damage as a punisher atm but new character specific punishes is good :D, like what Krackatoa mentioned, cl.mp>cl.hp on bison and some other chars :D!
Imagine if cl.mp gets some frame advantage on block, that would increase the cl.mp danku pressure.

Seems like the Power of Saikyo will truly become fearsome indeed.

This. Dan has a lot of links that’ll let him deal a lot more damage before tacking on a combo ender.

Looks like HK.Danku won’t be part of his full-punish options, we may be looking at ending combos in EX Danku or HP.Koryuken.

The links are nice, perhaps, will have to see what comes of them. Saikyo Crusher hit confirm (s.MP > f.MP xx Super) now 3-framer instead of two, though only possible with Shissou no doubt.
Dankuu nerf is bullshit, the damage isn’t huge it’s respectable at best.
Haoh nerf is even more bullshit, at worst it should trade, no reason it shouldn’t come out.
KRK trade Ultra gone, was to be expected I guess but we also lost trade into Dankuu. Maybe it won’t trade as much…
I do not like nj.HP doing a fast knock down, if that’s indeed what it implies. nj.MK has a tendency to miss miss crouching characters and obviously not as much damage/stun. It’s probably too slow to hit people after KRK FADC anyways, whoopdee-fucking-doo!

Where’s our health/stun being back to normal or slightly better?
Where’s Dankuu hit-boxes being fixed?
Where’s Gadouken hit-boxes being fixed?
Where’s Hisshou Buraiken being fixed?

Of course they couldn’t have just given us the links, they have to balance it out with nerfs so we’re still stuck at the bottom.

I dunno, the links look a bit iffy. The one that sticks out the most is c.LP recovery reduced, is c.LP > c.LP now possible? It’s +2 on hit ATM so unless it does more stun as well it’d need at least 2 less recovery frames to get a 1-framer.
I don’t know what cl.s.LK being 3 frames will accomplish. c.LP > s.LK > s.LP xx KRK?
c.MP being 5 frames, c.MP > c.MP still doesn’t work, would need more hit stun. Even if it did then what? Dankuu doesn’t combo and KRK would be out of range. c.HK is way too slow so best we get is an EX Dankuu.
cl.s.MP +8 on hit, so can combo with c.MP easily but that’s about it. Again c.HK is too slow and Dankuu won’t combo with c.MK outside of EX. It makes the KRK link much easier (when possible) and probably adds a frame trap.
cl.s.HK +6 on hit, worried about the pushback on that, will the old s.MP links work with this?
f.s.LP reduced recovery, essentially best we can get from that is c.LPx2 > s.LP > c.MP xx EX Dankuu.
c.MK reduced recovery, +3 on hit currently, another KRK link depending on pushback and link into EX Dankuu somehow no doubt.

Not really seeing anything super special awesome in there, unless the reduced Dankuu damage was for a reason and it can combo better and therefore be linked into but I highly doubt that.
