I’d be surprised if the nj.HP juggled. With the way the animation is I’d think it spikes them down like Cody’s does. Whatever, I’m happy with any and all the buffs Dan is gonna get.
Perhaps it will allow for a KRK or EX KRK follow up, instead of as a way to end a combo?
This sounds…really good. i think if Dan’s combos work the way that you guys are predicting hes gonna be better than Ken and Sakura.
Maybe. Maybe not. Remember that MP.KRK has the same invulnerability properties as the current HP.KRK, according to the SRK wiki. Also, remember that HK.Danku on trade mostly served to speed the match along. The difference in life between a clean Koryuken and a traded Koryuken + HK.Danku isn’t that much.
And we get some sweet trade-offs regardless.
c.s.MP > c.s.MP xx HK.Danku is going to be balls easy to do on a number of characters, along with c.s.MP > cr.MK xx Whatever. With the increased stun, a blocked s.MP will also give us some epic sweet room for hit-confirmable frame traps and counter-hit setups the likes of which we’ve never seen.
Also, counter-hit c.s.MP > Ultra I is now possible.
Extra hit-stun on s.MP may also fix some hitbox woes on crouching opponents.

While these are interesting buffs , I’m still concerned that it’s not enough to do well against opponents with slow fireballs and great pokes AKA Sim Chun Guile Rose Seth etc. I really was hoping for something special with his EX Hop Kicks like having armor properties , but maybe that’s asking too much for Capcom to do .

Pretty amazed that he got any buffs. Again, in Capcom’s eyes, he’s supposed to suck. So fundamental buffs like this are a very welcome surprise.
I also think the change on nj.hp sounds like it’s gonna do a spike-down similar to Cody’s (and now Gouken’s!)

Basically, he’ll behave like Gouken in terms of hitconfirms.
With the exception that Gouken doesn’t have DA KNEE, which is pretty much safe, whether you hit confirm it or not.
At least now it’s easier to hit confirm into KRK fadc U2 (cl.mp blocked, no need for KRK fadc, spending two precious EX bars).

Hi Dans. I quit the character for a while cuz it was hard enough to play Gen, but decided to come back for a short while to post dev blog translations on him. It’s in the “blog changes” thread as well.

Close s.LK’s start-up is changed to 3f, and c.MP’s start-up is changed to 5f.
Close s.LK, Close s.MP, Close s.HK, Far s.LP, c.LP, c.MK’s recovery are reduced, so there are new combos available.
For example, Far s.LP -> c.MK and c.MP -> c.MP became to be possible combos.
Neutral j.HP has pursuit property, and will slam opponents down to the ground when hit.
[Specials]
MK/HK Danku’s damage distribution got adjusted, and HK Danku’s total damage is decreased.
Koryuken will give air reset on trade. (<- likely on Dan, not the opponent)
[Ultra]
Haoh Gadoken’s invincibility is decreased to 8f after Ultra freeze.
As a result, if it can be stuffed, and projectile will not come out when that happens.
[Overall]
Normals are enormously buffed, so it became interesting in a close range brawl.
The character is for pros, but this could be the one step forward to Saikyo!
I wonder what he means by enormously buffed . Maybe one of the normals got a better hitbox and priority overall ?
I’m upset about U2 nerf… I sometimes use that to punish baited moves like Fei Long’s chicken wing , and now that probably won’t work .
They mean in regards to frame data. Dan has frame traps and nice hit-confirms now.
If you think about it, his normals are buffed in overall.
c.MP -> c.MP means the new c.MP is at least +5. Far s.LP -> c.MK means the new Far s.LP is at least +7 unless c.MK start-up got reduced. Close s.LK is a 3f normal that can link to itself and koryu.
I have to admit, dan looks really really good now…
