Well⌠I donât think heâs trolling. Heâs just sarcastically telling the truth. I do tend to agree with Arthur though. The reason why Yipes or Magus can get away with the way they do commentary is because they are very knowledgeable in the games they are doing commentary on.
I think the nicer way of saying what Arthur said is âIf you wanna get the Dallas Scene on the map, you have to show something worthy of getting noticed. People should be wanting to get better at the game, not just wanting to get on a stream and getting hype.â

Actually, I think both sides are right here, but we need to remember one thingâŚthose god of the mic you speak of do this all the time. They know what to say and how to say it. Those of us that were having fun on the stream, on the other hand, were pretty new to the whole âspeak on the fly and say cool shitâ deal. After re-watching the stream, I noticed places where it could have been better and places where it worked and I would like to personally get better at that. It was fun, and it is something that I hope to do again in the future. Still, I will defend my knowledge of the games we played as I do, in fact, understand them on a technical level. Did that come across perfectly on the first time that I did this? I do not think so.
I hope people understanding that a lot of what is going down there on the weekends are us âfiguring shit outâ. It was only week 2 and I would say we had a great turnout with not negative incidents at all. Shit ran smooth, and I do not think anyone can doubt that. The expierence of going out with people, chilling with a few drinks and playing some games is actually pretty awesome when you think about it, and we are trying to make this a regular thing that people can do. We want it to get to a point where people say âWell the guys in Dallas are doing this.â However, it is going to take time to get us to that point.
At the end of the day, yes, we could have done better, but I do not think it was terrible by any stretch of the word. If someone sounding stupid on a stream keeps DFW âoff the mapâ is a little hyperbolic.
Through all of the criticism, you still have to start somewhere.
I entirely agree with neroiscariotâs point. Having knowledge of the game is one thing but, to be able to then convey that knowledge to other people who may or may not know wtf is going on is another thing. Ive given physics presentations to high school students being a physics major myself. I know whats going on up in my head all makes sense to me but making them understand what im saying and making it sound fun and interesting is a whole nother beast. It takes time and work to be a good caster.
I would get on the mic for marvel, probably. No hype from me though, only facts and lulz about resets.

thats not entirely true. Adam sessler knew nothing about the game period except it was a fighting game and something about hadouken. look at Ultradavid he isnt the absolutely technical person but he is relatable. And guess what if you want new people to join your scene you need someone who can dumb it down. Talking about resets,frame traps, ouki games, etc⌠is really technical but how do you convey those ideas to someone is learning that likes throwing a russian book at a person then expecting them to know russian cause they have a book. And yes ppl watch because of the players but having a commentator telling you even basic stuff you might off missed during the match is good too.
