Iv been reading the thread and it looks like you have to be 21 for the orange bar fights. How strict is it? is there any other tournaments out there? It looks like Friday nights at Fight Club is mostly AE. Is there any place to play MVC3 at?
Iām sorry. No one should have to read this thread. Sweet City though.
I like how this went from āWhatās Keits email? Gotta get this shit on the front pageā to āItās just a bunch of drunk guys having fun, you nazi.ā A friend of mine once informed me that the absolute number one thing I could do āfor the communityā is to be good at Street Fighter, anything else is essentially superfluous. As it is right now, I see no reason why Iād tune in to watch Brutal Busby vs. some loser trying to come up with sweet option selects on the fly in the finals of a tourney except to troll the second place guy as he was clearly terrible.
Thereās a pretty good chance that I donāt know you if youāre on the opposite view of my opinions. If so, maybe youāre fantastic at all things, I honestly wouldnāt know. Or perhaps you like having a good time, and you have a good time when youāre playing SF. Thatās fine too. But if you want people doing things the way Dallas does them then your emphasis should be placed on making yourself a better player rather than a better stream commentator.
Arthur is tired of having no competition and is trying to shame people into getting better. I see through your ruse, Arthur.
As good as I am, Iām still pretty mediocre in the grand scheme of things. Iām nowhere near the level of actually good players. Iād say Iām third rate on a good day.
I thought everyone free-styled their option selects?
In the grand scheme of things, yeah. In the DFW area⦠wellā¦DAMNIT NOW HEāS TRICKING ME INTO COMPLIMENTING HIM. Arthurās yomi levels are off the charts!
I know where I am in the area. Nick and Adnan beat me pretty regularly. Steve, uh, I lost to him forever in Super but I seem to go even-ish with him in AE? Whatever. Logan and 2D do well against me, and Mike Vo and Andre can make me rage now and again. Aside from that I donāt think I can lose except by huge fluke. I miss Joe.
I am going to admit that you have some valid points in there. On the one had it was just a laid-back, fun evening. However, I think that my point still stands that this is pretty new and that whatever it can be (if anything) has yet to be defined. If the people coming out want it more serious, we can do that. If people want it as a nice, laid-back break at the end of the week, we can do that as well. Honestly, it is up to those who attend to dictate how this should move forward becaue, ultimately, they are the ones who are making it possible for us to get the space every week.
I am by no means one of the best SFIV or MVC3 players. Anyone who talks to me knows that I love MVC2, thatās what I play, and, even though it is (for all intents and purposes) a dead game, I much rather playing a few games of that and then observing what else is going on. My priority since the inception of this idea is to facilitate a location that was pretty cool for us to do our thing. It is way easier for me to stand back and see if I need to get every thing or make sure things go smoothly if I am not tied down to a station to play rounds. I honestly prefer it.
You tell me what the overwhelming majority wants, and I will do my best to make it happen. I would much rather have open lines of communication to help do something better than just saying āwell, thatās how I want it, tough shit, haters.ā
I would rather spend my money on beer at orang bar. No tournaments, just casuals and fun. Fightclub is the better place for tournament just because of all the setups and no one gets wasted there. Thatās just my little opinion tho.
ā¦Casual Cityā¦
Why so serious?
All this commentary talk is nauseating. Let em be I say. Leave the serious commentary when our majors and regionals rolls around.
More places to play the better. Its a new ageā¦new sceneā¦
Yes! Casual up town!
Sweet City.
John, did u go to the last Orange Bar Brawls?
Nah I went to visit my family in Waco and Me and Brian went to Austin to watch SBO quals.
If its going down this Saturday Iām going.
Yeah im gonna go this Sat if it goes down. Howās big dawg Brian doing? He still play Flat top?
Iām done talking about this on here, u feel the need to say anything else, Iām the only hakan player(canāt miss me) come tell me the next time u see me, cuz ur obviously still being sarcastic and negative, which is whatever, but Iām done talking bout it on here, itās dumb,
Yeah heās doing good. Heās still maining Guile, I noticed he got a couple of long win streaks in Austin. So I guess he is not as rusty as I thought. 3S on the other hand we got our asses handed to us, we are both hella rusty.
Charlie, just keep doing what youāre doing. So far OBF has been successful and Iād like to see it stay that way.
However, thereās always room for improvement. It would be nice if you guys had more setups, especially since thereās a lot of new blood. I know venue space is limited, so itās not a huge deal.
Streaming is definitely a great addition, but there needs to be a level of competence when it comes to commentary. Iām not saying it has to be completely serious all of the time, but there needs to be more substance to it. That being said, will Jeff be there every night to stream anyways? He runs Fight Club on Friday nights so I highly doubt heāll have the time to be at OBF every night.
I know itās only been two weeks but in order for things to remain successful, you need to keep things fresh. When I first started going to Fight Club, the thing that kept me coming back were the tourneys and ranbats.
And for the casual players who just wanna come and hang out, itās always good to have other games on the sode, whether or not if theyāre related to fighting games. At FC we would play random ass games like Jojoās Bizarre Adventure or WWE Allstars, just to fuck around. Ian and I were talking about playing some Sake Bomberman - look it up on YouTube.
