CvS2 Videos Thread

This is nothing new, but I think Nitto is the best CvS2 player. He’s always doing something creative and unexpected, as well as having solid execution and knowing all his matchups. If it weren’t for A-groove countering K-groove, either him or Ino would be the players winning all the big tournaments.

Check this match out.

I don’t think a CvS2 match can get any more perfect than that. He’s fighting against a counter character (Sagat) and still manages to get him dizzy for the beatdown. He pokes with Geese low jump HK which is very annoying. At 1:05, just Just Defends Ryu doing sweep xx hadouken, and punishes with Geese far s.MP xx Jaiken, which is damn sick!

Hit confirms all his combos. Knows exactly whenever his opponent’s guard will be crushed with a block Jaiken. Punishes whiffed Ken RC kicks with his Geese sweep. Hit confirms Cammy d.MP into a link super. Puts a super input into all his pokes so if they make contact or counter hit, they will auto-cancel into the super. Knows Rolento can be rushed down and is vulnerable to Cammy dive kicks at close range. Even Daigo’s Guile has problems against Nitto, and Guile has the advantage of being able to spam backfirsts and standing roundhouse against Geese.

There are no goofy novelty characters like A-Joe, C-Rolento, roll cancel Ken, ratio 4 Raiden, or any groove Hibiki going on. Nitto plays to beast, and uses the money no bullshit characters to get the job done. The only other money team I can think of in the game would be A-Vega, Bison, Blanka. If A-groove wasn’t as cheap as it is in this game, the Nitto team (replaced with Blanka every now and then) is THE powerhouse team to beat.

On a semi-related note, I also feel Ken is a newbish character. He’s good for beginners, but he does really shitty against the top tiers. It’s best to move on as soon you’ve gotten the basic feel for CvS2. If you stick with Ken, then he’s going to do nothing but hold you back once you start facing more skilled opponents who aren’t shy about using the power characters like A-Bison or K-CBS.

I didn’t think there were anymore good Geese plays to watch on videos, wow I wish I knew about Nitto a while back, need to study his Geese and upgrade mines a few. Thanks for the vid.

I made a King combo/tutorial video. It cost me a lot of effort, so please watch.

Nitto is the man. Determined to rushdown fools while being flashy. Who doesn’t like that? I think if he kept playing he could come up with more stuff to encourage new players to pick up the game.

Zen - good shit. There were some things in there I hadn’t ever thought to try. King was one of my main when I started this game, and I gave had to give her up. It’s nice to see someone who has knowledge of the character besides David…who’s left us for a better place…

Kim - you encourage me to kick Rolento’s ass. <3

Oh, and David’s not dead, he’s in Japan…that kinda made it sound like he died.

Thats pretty nice my friend sure could probably use this since he plays A-King.

Zen>> Thx for this video, the (very) good point is that you took time to explain each combo and even the timing for it!!! That’s how every tutorial vids should be done I think.

Just a funny thing when i opened the movie for the first time in winamp bottom and top were reversed! I thought it was kind of design work for the beginning but… It wasn’t^^

Thanks guys. I’m really happy with your responses. I learned a lot from making this video, mostly about video technology and compression, but also about making things easy to understand and pleasant to watch. Maybe I’ll make another one in the future :lovin:

yeah zenfire, very nice video. detailed, thorough, and practical stuff in there with just the right amount of flashy stuff. i’d make an eagle video of this nature if i had the technology and knew about putting a video together.

peace

Really impressive! Great job, dude!
It made me want to play King again. The video was put together very well, you explained all the stuff clearly and the notes on your webpage are very helpful. Again, nice job!

Maki isn’t a 360 character, even though she has a 720 super throw. What you saw was Maki doing the 720 super in the air, which is also possible.

If you see a Maki player land an air 720 super, you a required, by law, to go “WOOOOOO!!!” Even on video.

Sweet. Those look dope, especially the Iori one. Hibiki one looks cool too. Making all the Buktooth characters look good! All of the ones who don’t suck, anyway.

I kinda vaguely remember you mentioning this idea/video to me way back when. Glad you wound up throwing something together.

Very nice video sir. I like the crazy tunnel transitions. Mostly cuz they are short and don’t involve random bright white flashes. The music is dope too. I dunno, it’s just fun to watch, so you did a great job on the editing.

I like the bit about running after LK FB. Took me a couple of views to notice/remember it, because the clip right after it is so flashy.

Somebody needs to let Viscant know about this video.

I also really like the King vid. Nice editing and content. Whats the name of the song you used, and whats the name of the song for the evolution 2k2 trailer?

Thanks again everyone for watching the vid and especially for the positive feedback

the song is Mekon - Please Stay (Royksopp Remix) (available on 12’’ Vinyl http://www.discogs.com/release/45925)
It’s all Royksopp though, you should hear the original, it’s like a song form the Everly Brothers (available on iTunes).

i concur.

also, is this jump cancel evasion practical at all? and how exactly does it work.

Dude really nice video, Zenfire! You’ve inspired me to pick up King now
Gonna read up about her while looping the video

Buktooth: Speaking of jumping out of grabs, i think there’s a bit in your Systems FAQ that you need to update. In the segment on superfreeze frame advance, you have a Yamazaki example where you say that it takes 2 frames to jump. It’s true that most characters take 2 frames to get off the ground, but even that startup is invincible to throws. So it’s actually 0/1 frames (depend on how the game is feeling at the moment). Also, has anyone tested whether the short jump grooves have a harder time jumping out of throws?

If you look in the Yamazaki Moveset/Attributes thread, Buktooth already posted a reply there answering that. They get off the ground pretty much instantly. Short jump grooves do not have a harder time jumping out of throws. That answer was posted back in 2004, my how the time flies. Never written any FAQ’s myself, but I heard GameFAQ’s isn’t the easiest place to submit updates to.

Here one I like just for the third round.

Seems to me they just have an easier time getting hit by activate low forwards :looney:
