wtf? Nakoruru sucks (the character, not the guy playing her).
Is there anything she can do to punish Blanka for whiffing out a d.HP in front of her face? I think the most useful ground move she has going for her is sweep, and even that’s not that useful.
That low jump game and overhead game looks extremely hard to block, but whenever Nako guesses wrong, they all leave her way open.
Walk up and punch or kick her repeatedly, while keeping an eye out for her jump in and low jump (the only two good things she has going for her). There’s no way she can beat a top tier character like Cammy, Sagat, Bison, or Rolento even. I think the reason she beats Sagat so bad in this particular video is because Sagat is in P-groove and trying to guess parry instead of playing defensive like he should. Look at him lose patience and attempt a fuck it uppercut at the end.
I’ve played her in K, and she’s not that bad. I’ve done well against top tiers with her, and she’s got more “tricks” than people realize because they haven’t taken any time to play her seriously. She doesn’t have a reliable super, though…unless you can mash out double half circles after confirming a sweep or something. Her game is about patience and frustrating the opponent. I definitely think she needs to be in K to really be effective. Her custom is okay, but she doesn’t have an abusable RC…which seems to be the way for A…and JD takes care of a lot of the weaknesses she has.
best nak player is in toronto her whole game is based on mix ups and knockdowns. Both A and K versions of Nak are good (the player i’m thinking of uses her in both). By far the best bnb combo for her is cr.lk x2, cr.mp xx fp ground slide. This places you right beside the person and knocks down, giving you a chance to do all sorts of corpse hop (A groove), and small jump/bird ride shenanigans.
her jp.lk is similar to chun’s in terms of priority and usefulness.
note that nak player in the vid is lucky that his opponent can’t quick recover, cause the upwards “slide” move is punishable after hitting if they recover.
i think nak is really good, has a lot of really good offensive options and the best low jump game in cvs2
defense-wise she’s a little lacking, but that’s why you should use her in Kgroove and cover up those holes with JD
her other main drawback is that its difficult for her to land her super off of low shorts without counter hit. close jab, link low fierce xx super is easy though, but chars shorter than cammy can crouch the jab
doesn’t vega also have a hard time stopping her jump rh without air-to-airing her or using flipkicks? if i remember correctly, nak has a good matchup against vega overall
and otk has the best nak imo, but then again nak used to be on rai’s real team (replaced for hibiki), so he probably knows more situational shit with her
If anyone is interested in seeing OTK’s Nak, try getting the Texas Showdown 5 CVS2 casuals video from Preppy.
Also, I think it’s pretty safe to randomly do c.hk xx bird super when you have a little bit of rage bar left to burn. In one of the matches otk uses it from up close as a way to pin the other guy down and goes for a free crossup.
lol, i remember sitting next to otaku while he was beasting on people with K-nak at TS5. his mixups were very solid and the JD’ing ability was obviously there. most people didn’t really know how to play against her. one person in particular DEFINITELY didn’t know how to play against her. otaku did the heal super from 3/4 screen, and the person jumped away into the corner and turtled:looney:
pop - make an eagle tut vid like zenfire did for king since your one of the few eagle players who knows what the hell hes talking about. id pick him up if i knew more about him but I really have little comp locally and dont know what I should and shouldnt be doing.
For the few vids available i watched so far on youtube, i don’t understand why no good player use her, because she’s quite scary^^
She goes under many moves because of her little size, her knife move (c.HP?) seems great AA, many of her moves make knockdown. Is she good at throwing? Because mixing that with her quick combos, I think she can quick become annoying^^ But I never played against a nak player.
The special move where she grab the hawk and immediately “dive”^^ seems very useful as a quick overhead too
How to catch this speedy gonzales?
It’s safe to throw it out randomly, too. You get a free throw/combo if they roll through it.
I’ve found a pretty easy way to hit the bird super consistently, though. If you do a ground sliding blade attack that stops short of hitting the opponent, they will most likely try to retaliate once they react to you stopping in front of them. By the time they do, you will have already tripped them up with c.HK xx bird super, or if you’re adventurous (and close enough), c.HP xx bird dive combo super. (Video of that .)
This then sets up throw mix-ups, and two or three throws in K-Rage are just as effective as hitting a super. Maybe even more so for a character like Nakoruru.
possible that any of these are on youtube? I wanted to pick up nak once but I could never find any super option confirms except that c.rh xx bird super. Btw her cape super is she invulnerable to attacks while shes in the process of getting on the bird?
Here’s something interesting I stumbled across the last time I went to FFA. Maki command runs right through a Ken f.HK, without roll canceling:

The kick comes out just before Maki enters Ken’s throw range. I tested this really quick, and it doesn’t happen against a regular run. Only Maki’s command run. It looks like since her run is much faster than all other runs (or maybe because it’s a special kind of run), she is able to get on the other side of Ken while he is doing the half-step forward for the kick.
This guy uses the Firebird super pretty interestingly.

At 00:58 he throws out the super to catch his opponent trying to use quick getup. I wonder if it works and what the setups are? Nak has frame advantage after the other guy blocks it that’s for sure.
edit: Nevermind. It doesn’t work. That guy’s just a newb.
