Cool story bruh.
ummm you can do fireball motions after the initial DP for the customs…
might make it easier for you,
idk, full DP’s are easy for me not so much rolling the motion.
also even knowing all that, won’t keep you from getting bopped by OG’s.
in-game exp is invaluable.
That’s not being dickish at all! More like calling out lackadaisical, so-called fans of cvs2.
Here in norcal, cvs2 never died off entirely. STA closed, but they are going to have monthly events supposedly that include cvs2. Also, we’ve been going to Norcal Dogfight, a monthly tournament series (every 3rd Saturday of the month) at San Mateo Game Center, which includes cvs2. With luck, people who get into cvs2 via the port will start showing up. We already get about 15 ppl each tournament, so it would be a nice statement if we could get that number up into the 20s. I’m also trying to go out there every Wednesday night to get some practice, so if people in norcal would like to get some games, they should come out.
Nick, are you in SoCal now? Let me know if you get something going, my friend Sanchez is down there, and he was looking to play cvs2 at evo. I didn’t realize they had a cvs2 cab set up, I thought that area was reserved for ST. It’s really too bad Evo is doing everything they can to kill the BYOC section, got to get that corporate dolla I suppose.
@Laban: Glad to see you’re so hungry for the game. You and KBeast should try to come out for Dogfight if you guys want to play!
Nick and Snaaaake, if you are in the NY area, my cousin and some dominican friends over there are REALLY good at the game, let me know if you`re gonna do a gathering or something, to let them know.
@Mr.Warzard
Mightymar saying cvs2 is going to be at Chicago Heart as well dunno which version either though.
There was the CvS2 Nationals in japan earlier this month as well.
I’ll try. If I’m lucky enough and get an interview date soon, I’ll get a job with Fremont Main Library on Sundays and I’ll actually have gas money to go to places. I live in Modesto which is too far away to go to Den Dojo in 707 or come out to Alameda regularly with no money. Right I’m pragmatically trying to keep CenVal CVS2 alive.
@jedpossum: Thanks for the heads up re: JP nationals. When I get the chance, I’ll try and translate the results, see how it went down.
@Laban: Cool. Do you know Phil from Modesto? A-Groove Sakura/Bison/Blanka player, he used to show up at the STA ranbats (and MGL), and smoke anybody not named Leezy (with a few exceptions)
If not, I can put you in touch with him, I’m sure he’d be down to play in something local.
@Laban Welcome to the CvS2 crew
So, what would be a good way to introduce newbies to CvS2? I’ve had success getting all my buddies to play TTT2 by showing them some cool stuff and teaching them the basics. I tried with CvS2 before a few years back but a lot of them got discouraged by all the gauges and beatings. Since the re-release on PS3 I’m willing to give it another go and wondered if I should go about it differently?
I also game-share most of my fighting games with them so they’ll have plenty of time for practice, and the other room-mate who lives there is good at CvS2 so there’s that.

@Mr. Warzard I don’t know him so yes please put in a good word for me! I need more A-Groove match up experience and against a vet sure why not.
Yo Laban also try to get ahold of DJ Cream, pretty sure he wouldn’t mind giving you a lift to Gamecenter.

Tell them to practice their footsies and AAs. I try to stay on the ground as much as I can in the game. If they’re new I’d either have them practice C and K groove.

Last time he offered I didn’t have money at the time, I think I’ll have some rolling in around the 26th and that’ll be a bit far off. We’ll see. When is the next one coming up? Also I’d have to make sure to have money for entrance. I think that’s what killed me last time.
@Laban: PM me your number and I’ll pass it along to Phil. Next Dogfight is Aug 17th. It is $7 to enter, but that does buy you free play on all the console cabs all day, so you can play other games.
@krazykone123: I’ve often pondered this question myself LOL. To answer it, it depends really on how noob they are. If your friends know Street Fighter basics, the transition would be a lot easier. Beginners really need to spend time learning how to use normals, and how to block. If they are super noob, they should stick to C groove at the beginning - the movement and JDing of k-groove might be too much to learn.
I’ve lived in Vegas for the past 4 years. NY before that. I tagged @Snaaake because I knew he would at least still play if the shit is available.
@Warzard -
I’ve been to Super Arcade once, but now that I know the cvs2 H2H’s are out there, I would like to make more trips.
Also, I suggest that when the cvs2 tournies going down, to start streaming. It’ll be easier via the ps3.

I JD’d a tiger uppercut with smoothing off.
I’m happy.
was playing my brother earlier. JD’d into low short short + stand jab + low forward lvl3 cannon.
it was JAPANESE AS FUCK! SBO right here

I had sessions with victor like 4 times I think. random asians showed up too(min and troy). jeremy and the other one(plays team combofiend) only showed up once.
they are good players.

Fucking damnit. How hard is it to get this shit online?
I’m no computer programmer or engineer but I can’t imagine putting a game that’s 12 years old up for online play is that difficult.
Just get it done already.
its the license issue…I THINK
snk dont wanna deal with capcom at all for whatever reason
that and the laughable excuse seth killian had. he was all like “you must jump the roll cancel hurdle to be able to play cvs2”
ok @SNAAAAKE if the og`s or someone start doing ranbats or gatherings, let me know, those fellows are always down to play.
And i cant believe Victor beat you, haha, i taught that scrub how to play. Daury (team k - combofiend) was good at the beginning of the game, but we quickly adapted and then he just dissapeared of the scene.
Anyways, hope you can re-start a community there, here is really difficult now that scrub fighter 4 is the de facto game.
well…dont know who qualifies as “og” around here lol
most of them are too old for anything now. even if they are playing, they are playing sf4 or something(like sanford, sabin, etc)
almost ALL ny cvs2 players completely disappeared. I never ever see anyone anywhere. they are just…done. I only get to play min and troy whenever we feel like going to NL. but yeah I will try to set things up again.
I finally got this earlier this week, but I couldn’t see the option for turning off “game mode.” I turned off smoothing by hitting the home button, and going to other settings, but that was the only option. I also turned off some other option in my options menu before booting cvs2 up (something relating to ps/ps2 games), and the game feels ok. Did you get both options to show up just by pressing the home button?
