Well, I guess I stand corrected. Even though that was 2 weeks ago, it’s something. But what I meant was a real, official announcement that states they’re doing something about the problems, rather than just one forum post.
Funny, all I’ve seen is rational discussion and requests. Except maybe for ryan., he kinda mad. But legitimately so.
Instead of region search, why not give people a custom tag that they can use for searching? There can be a built-in list of country codes (eg. US, CA, JP), but people should also be allowed to edit this to be more specific eg. “US:EAST”, or “UK:YANG MIRROR” (they can even separate out the region from the tag if they want). Obviously you’d need to know which tags to search for, but like with anything else “tag lingo” will eventually stablize.
It would be really cool if we had the ability to upload YouTube videos in full, max quality 720p, but at the very least we should be able to upload in 360p, with the highest bit rate possible at that resolution. 240p is just unacceptable, and the lower the resolution, the more YouTube automatically compresses the video when it is uploaded.
Another weird thing is if you’ve uploaded a replay to YouTube once, you can’t upload it again. That may sound like a good idea in the short run to prevent idiots from uploading the same exact video twice, but what if I had the visual settings set to normal and decided I didn’t like that and want to change it to widescreen, for example? Bad idea to only let us upload the replay once.
Just saying, it’s rather pointless to put the restriction in there, and there’s a few different reasons. Needing to change the visual settings, or if the account associated with the video gets terminated, or here’s a really good reason: I once uploaded a video and the replay was totally inaccurate. It eventually got the point where one of the characters was just standing there, doing nothing, while the other one was just seemingly pushing random buttons. Not good if you really want to upload a certain replay, you only get one chance, and it messes up like that.
you forgot 1337. anyways, were you around when $rk was full of sirlin fanboy bitches (well before HDR) and the rest of the old school sf2 elites making threads all the time on why 3s sucks and why it should be dropped? it still happens now but it’s much much less. i have to admit this thread kinda reminds me of their mentality a little bit. but you’re right, we’re all elitists i guess.
anyways, back on topic. the only thing better than the ps2 port that this game has is ggpo and the arcade perfect timing. i don’t remember how the button config worked in ps2 but i’m pretty sure you couldn’t do it on the character select screen which is a big plus for 3soe. ps2 3s on a regular SD tv looked so amazing. a little better than cps3 on a crt imo, but that’s just me. ps2 version had a lot less bugs than 3soe. it was also easier to pick the extra colors. all that said, i still prefer 3soe. after all these years of playing this game, going to the arcade and fucking up my combos because i was so used to the console port, really pissed me off. i also had no idea why it was happening. was it the buttons and stick that was the issue? nope, turned out it was the timing of the two different versions all along. i can’t stand the ps2 speed nor the emu speed of 3s now. it’s enough to make me prefer 3soe over the ps2 version, even with all the stupid shit they threw in or messed up.
3soe is like a priceless artifact that has been covered in diarrhea and the ps2 version is like the chinese knockoff that’s clean.
oh, and i’d pay $10 for a color edit mode dlc. seriously. there’s going to be like 3 color packs anyways? so that’s 9 bucks total. they’d probably make more money releasing a 9 dollar color edit mode.
maybe it was just announced then but production didn’t start until much later or they just seriously messed up big time when testing. either way has failure written on it.
no way in hell does ps2 on a tv beat cps3 on a versus city crt. no way even slightly. the arcade screen is soooo much better. much higher saturation, much clearer. scan lines look gorgeous and make certain things look 10x better. like when akuma shows his teeth, on arcade the scanline forms the line between his top and bottom teeth. makes him look fierce. on a normal tv you can’t see that at all, its just a blob of white. same with alex actually.
yes actually i was around then lurking. some of the first non faq/move/combo list threads i read on srk were threads shitting on 3s.
