I was talking specifically Marvel 3. The other two I used to just mash buttons and beat the CPU and some players for fun in the arcade enjoying the fact that I get to have Spiderman and Ryu in the same game together! LOL!

But in all seriousness I consider marvel to be like smash. Fun as hell when you leave in all the stupid shit that people want to take out like actually playing other characters in the roster except for the main ones. But played at a competitive level shits stupid as hell and I have accepted that. That’s why I switched to playing phoenix. Stupid character in a stupid game.

Marvel is a great game.
I don’t find this game one bit random at all outside of Phoenix. All I can say is learn to block, and understand teleports.
Well balanced outside of Phoenix and level 3 x-factor.
You all can argue about who is top tier. I don’t care.
It matters more of team synergy than picking top three characters because that doesn’t work (Hence why MSS sucks).
Out of the 38 characters in this game, I have seen 35 being played in tournaments. That is pretty damn good.

You see that video is why I consider combofiend to be one of the best at marvel and he’s my favorite for winning EVO this year. I think the only reason people consider Marvel so random is because in other games getting hit by a jumping medium doesn’t equal death so its not as prominent in those. In marvel though getting hit by a mashed crouching L will get you killed.

Out of the three games, I just saw one random super (arrows at 2:46) done by combofiend. That was it.
Still I wont consider getting hit by a jumping medium then being killed is considered random.
As long as I can understand why I got hit therefore I died. Im cool with that because thats how I approach this game.
I can see why you hate marvel, therefore I wont suggest to you to play some marvel.
Marvel is random because people who are garbage at the game can consistently beat better players if they pick wolverine or phoenix. As much as people hope for there to be some technology that gets discovered that changes this the reality is that characters do too much damage for too little work. There’s nothing that can beat 100% combo into 4 mixups on the incoming character with the use of one bar + x factor(wolverine). Except for an even more braindead way to get a hit.
Marvel is fun, who doesn’t like doing long combos?
Marvel can be random at times, but I see the same people winning everytime. So there is obviously consistency to it.

Random as it is used in relation to Marvel is a ridiculous word, in most cases thrown around when people don’t understand what happened to them. Or, cant figure out how to counter it.
EDIT: Oh and Phoenix is one of the most unique and fun to play with and against characters in any of the VS series.
When I play as her, I can die at any moment and kill at any moment. When I play against her, I can kill her at any moment or be killed at any moment. Its kinda awesome really.

Speaking of SkullGirls, I cant wait for that to come out. I love the CVS element of choosing how many people are on your team between 1 and 3. I will settle the Marvel debate now.
To me its kinda lost its luster to play, BUT, it can still be fun to screw around in, it is HELLA FUN to watch in a tournament setting like it was at ECT. Nothing says bromo like watching Essex fut fut dive the shit out of people
