CT Thread | Weekly Thursdays 7pm Fire & Dice Games Milford CT

GGs to everyone at Etc today. A total of 6 hours round trip and it was definitely worth it. Hopefully some of you think I’ve level’d up a bit since I’ve last been in CT.

For those of you wondering about my “I use U2 because I’ve landed plenty of Demons” comment, I’m referring to these two videos:

The two vids that kinda put me on the map. As Manny jokingly says, I’m famous now xD. jk jk. But remember to subscribe so you can catch the rest of my Demon Armageddon Applications vids. Hopefully after watching them, you’ll stop letting me land U2 on you.

As for what everyone is saying about this fighting game generation, I’ll throw my hat in the ring. There is a good and bad side to everything being re-balanced and re-made so quickly. On the plus side, it keeps the community fresh and helps it from becoming stagnant (ie: 2001-2008). With games being re-tooled every couple months, it can keep people interested. On the negative side, there are those who would rather learn the game once, and wait for new tech to be found throughout the months to keep the game fresh.

The way I see it, you can complain all you want, but if you truly LOVE fighting games, you WILL give Capcom your money.

TL;DR - Had a great time at Gaming Etc, see ya guys in a week

-Learn Cody
-Play Frank in tournament
-Pick Cody Alternate 1
-Profit?

Pretty sure that I beat Frank that one time because I using Rose’s banned alternate.

“Get this guy a slice of pizza and a Slurpie cause he’s on some 7-11 bullshit.” Walter the king of personal quotes in CT!!

Just wanted to let everyone know I had fun at Gaming Etc yesterday. Venue is much larger than it appears and I must say Walter you did a good job of helping them get off the ground.

Shout outs to everyone I played it was good to finally put some faces with names. Dru always good seeing you man, let me know if you are ever in the hartford area and we will get up. James it was good meeting you man, hold down the Lead Fortress for us. Also I’m assuming that slice of pizza was god like on top of the fact you got it for free lols.

Phil - Where were you at? I drive down 45mins and you cant drive 5mins to support the ct gaming scene whats up with that? lol I’m just kidding, it just would of been good to see atleast 1 more old school player other than Dru and myself down there. Dru filled me in and told me you were busy working on videos for youtube so no worries always next time.

Aponte- Turn your cell phone on. I tried calling you like 3 times to let you know I was coming down. I missed you last weekend you never showed up :frowning:

Magno - it was good meeting you. Duchess was some good stuff.

PJ- good games let me know if you want to play on the weekends at all. I’ll try and see if I can make it on one of those Thursdays at some point; if I do I’ll PM you in advance.

Everyone else sorry if i played you and didn’t get your name. Good shit otherwise, it’s good to know there is still a fighting game scene in CT.

Brian

Let me just say this one god damned thing. Saying there is no point in learning one game because an updated will come out later is complete and utter bullshit. You learn a game because you like it and our cases we love fighting games so we are automatically driven to want to learn them. Its not like the engines get completely re-done, you can still learn basic fundamentals like blocking and knowing what can punish what. If you like fighting games you are going to play them, your not gonna say some bull like there’s no point. You are then just making an excuse for yourself because you don’t think you’re going to have the ability to learn a game again.

I want somebody to say they are not getting UMvC3 because they’re just gonna wait for the next one because there’s no point in learning it. At that point you should quit playing fighters anyways. The reason why you should play said fighting is because you love it and you’ll never know whether a newer one will come out or not and if one does you just adapt to it. Like other people have said I like when a new version of a game comes out. It keeps the game fresh and keeps it long lasting. Granted I do like seeing games develop for a while but in this day and age where games are being released constantly and our attention easily shifted they kind of need to do this to keep the scene alive. Think of what this years EVO would have been like if we were still playing MvC2 or vanilla SF. There’s a big reason why the fighting game community is the biggest it has ever been.

hopefully next time we can get pizza lol

glad to see everyone yesterday. brian, cool you came down man, hopefully we get more ppl for a tourney. Magno always a beast, you gotta hit me up when you come down or pm me your numero. pj with his mag I mean doom skills lol ARTHUR BABY!! Shout outs to no namer who schooled me in mvc3, I want a rematch! nikko, hit me up, let me know when you wanna get up for someone mk9, I need to get good like you guys man.

good shit everyone and fuck pizza places that have no pizza!

Dru, Nikko should be having a session at his house tonight

This guy seems pretty cool.

I got some pizza xD

hopefully next time we can all get some pizza

Rose has a banned alt? lol.

Yeah, had every intention of going to Games Etc. this week, was doing a co-op playthrough of a game that we thought was only 4 hours long the night before…ended up playing it until 2am, then I spent 4 hours getting the footage uploaded…so yeah, didn’t wake up til something like 2pm. And I usually go to dinner with my parents on Sundays, so it wouldn’t have been worth it to show up and have to leave in an hour anyway. But it’s cool that you came down man, the venue is great and it looks like it’ll only get bigger with time.

Just because you love fighting games doesn’t mean you have to love every single one. Games take time to grow on you unless you’re some die-hard who ONLY plays fighting games. I admit, I actually used to be one of those people, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve gotten broader tastes. If I’m going to invest time to become tournament-level at a fighting game, I want to make sure that I get something out of that investment. That works with games like ST (which will never have a sequel) and MvC2; it doesn’t with the current generation of Capcom fighters, where they totally re-tool the games after 1 year and force you to re-learn and re-invest that time. Don’t get me wrong, I LIKE Capcom fighters - I think that MvC3 is a blast to play in a casual setting. But if I’m going to LOVE the game, I need more time with it; and that’s impossible when it gets patched first a month after release, then gets a totally new version in November. Unless you’re the kind of person who solely focuses on fighters and therefore enjoys the experience of totally re-learning these games several times in a year, then you’re going to feel like the game is asking too much of you. Capcom did a great thing by releasing SF4, but IMO they’re going to lose the casual audience if they keep throwing out new versions of the same games so frequently - that’s why there’s such controversy surrounding UMvC3 right now.

 DSP is trolling now too.

I remember when you had to put in work to troll a thread. I miss the old days when I had to create my own image macros, print them, and then mail them to people who i wanted to troll. Now its all easymode bullshit with online and such and the newfags are able to get away with murder.

Why isn’t the tournament on the first day of the lock-in? Would make more sense. No rush to end the tournament like last time haha.

money match monday, starts today at 8pm… mk9. and ssf4ae… no set wagers. one problem is the streetfighter monitor is only 19 inches and mk9 will be played on ps3…

Woah woah. Where are we having money matches at?

I missed you this past weekend?! This sucks. . . Sorry I couldnt answer my phone. I was camping in the damn wilderness on a retreat all weekend. There was like 2 inches of rain too.

I’m sorry about last week man, I got some news that forced me to tend to some family stuff. Good stuff at least, but something Id rather wait a little longer before I tell anyone.

Wish I coulda saw you last weekend. . . Let me know if you coming around again, or if you having a get together. I wont miss you next time.
