You dont see how any game is competitive. Its a 1v1 game. There will always be something wrong or exploited, and how its competitive, is that it is a 1v1 game. Thats all you need
I think both MK and MvC3 are legit competitive games. It can take a while to get a feel for them, but they are good (at least for “new” style fighters). MvC3 doesn’t feel so random anymore. MK feels more fluid now. I hope the New England folks will give MK a fair chance. Though I will say that neither of these games is for everyone.

I have been playing MK before any other fighting game. I’m a mega fan of it and have had so many memories with the series along with the tournaments I entered back in Peru. I would always look up combos, read up on the MK storyline, contribute to forums about the currents games that were out or about to be released, and so much more. I played DOA and SF on the side but shit was I hooked. I really wish I had MK9 right now. I really want that game but i’m such a broke ass. =(
As for the game, I can see why many here don’t see it as a competitive game since most are used to the mechanics and animation of Capcom or japanese fighting games. Just treat it like it’s own game and don’t compare it because MK is not SF or KOF or whatever. Just think of it like playing Tekken and then getting into street fighter. Tremendous merge into a whole different style of play and competition.
I think that’s the mistake people make.
The new MK is legit imo, but your going to need to know extensive matchup knowledge if you wish to do well in tournaments
Woah look at all these people in CT liking MK. Would anybody be up for a room once a week, to play? Hopefully with all of us close the lag won’t be almost unplayable like every other time I’ve tried to play online.

let me put it this way, even with AE drop I dont think SF is going to be as hype as MvC3 and MK9 at evo this year.
I think I have completely dropped SF to be honest, these other games are much more fun and entertaining.
And a lot of the times people keep those games just a game not a profession like majority of SF players look into it as, meanwhile maybe 2% out of them all maybe make enough to call it an income
MK is pretty easy for me to get into because it is like a mixture of both DOA and Virtua Fighter. Very string based with mixups being high and low. Footsies play the same as well.

I played mk I and ii wayyyyyy before I even slightly thought of taking sf seriously and I still think mk9 is “meh.” Its really fun and it looks awesome…but so many unblockables and lol shit.
Mvc3 is tooooooooo mashy. It literally is who’s random offense can be more random. Its not even mix ups. Its everyone mashing their sme strategy allllll the timeeeeeee. Its horribly structured. If x factor was gone that would be a giant first step to making it more balanced/legit.
In a sense, outside of TOP TOP level for mvc3…x factor is random as fuck. Only top level players are good at controlling its outcomes imo. Everyone else just mashes random crap in xf and just “hopes” for the best. In a sense, its not even needed because solid players milk a good 600k-850K per combo anyway…two combos bare minimum kill a character top level…its clearly a scrub mechanic.

yea but mk9 gets patched frequently looking to tone down the lol shit. Kung Lao got his dmg brought down from the last patch. Lesser used characters got buffed.
