I think Sheeva looks pretty good. Lol at command grab, 2 unblockables, (down down up is god like and great to use after getting a knockdown for free meter or another knockdown if they do not jump away) and projectile.

I think her X Ray might be unblockable too. Not sure. Sonya looks good too. Insanely fast. Looks like a very big pressure character.

Those are really good points Manny. He really does run a strong risk when he pressures from getting hit out of tri jumps and stuff and just random balogni. I also do notice less range on his air throw than lets say Sentinel or Taskmaster. Hes high risk…high reward.

Yea I think I’m going to take MK9 seriously. In the future, I think I’m just going to play 2 games at a time. Right now it will be Marvel and mk9. But when TTT2 comes out, I think it will probably be TTT2 and MK9. I’m really liking how competitive is going right now in mk9. I really do like Marvel’s mind games and mixups, but the damage is really turning me off.

Hold off on that. I might have to retract my previous post. I can’t deal with another game with a shitty ass practice mode without a proper record function. I will seriously sell this game if there is no remedy to this. These fighting games are de-evolving and it’s pissing me the fuck off.

You get hype on a game, so you turn it on to see what character to use and also to figure out not only which of your moves are safe, but how safe so you know exactly how to utilize them. This game is suppose to be geared toward the competitive player, but then there is no proper record function. The record “feature” in this game is useless. Once you record something, you can’t control the opposite character at all to test how safe things are. It seems as if it’s only for making combo videos. I know most of you 2d guys never had to deal with that, but this is the second time I’m dealing with this shit. Tekken has no record function at all after having it in the previous 4 Tekken games. I’m glad I didn’t use that online code cause then I can sell this game and still get most of my money back. One thing that all game should take from Soul Calibur 4 is the practice mode. Best practice mode in a fighting game of all time.

Wait for frame data?

What happens when I get put in something I do not know how to get out of? I need to be able to recreate that situation so I can learn how to beat it or avoid it. How would I do that without record? Please let’s not make excuses for these developer’s laziness. If they have enough time to make a 300 stage challenge tower, they have enough time to put in a record feature. Frame data helps, but as was previously stated, they’re suppose to be change the frame data regularly.

I promise I won’t rant about this game again. Whens the next Marvel session?

sc4 easily had the best training mode in any fighter ever made. the only thing that came close was sc3. why other fighting games, be it made by namco or not dont copy the shit out of this is beyond me. also probably thursday.

Where is tetsuo when you need him to talk about the old arcade days and how we used to not have training mode.

Training mode spoils everyone’s growth speed in fighting games to no end. Me personally, I NEVER use record in training mode to do ANYTHING. I simply just practice my combos or do the default actions of the dummy to set up stuff or see if an attack is an overhead or whatever. (crouch, stand, jump, random block) That’s it. When I play people online or in person I use that as my way of learning match ups or what i can and cannot do. The only time i record is for jump ins to test out anti airs really.

All of my growth as a player comes from never dropping combos, knowing frame data, priority, range, invincibility. All record mode really does is “If they do A…I need to do B to punish it.” Which is easily figured out through playing and just testing shit out while you play the game. Not hard.

At the end of the day…that’s what fighting games are.

Never dropping combos, not messing up, and stupid and easy strategies when under pressure. That’s it.

All I really do in Training Mode is try to find new ways to keep pressure up, be more lame with characters if they are defensive, and maximize my dmg from every mistake. That’s it.
