I have to disagree on the input lag issue. This is coming from someone who has owned 3 HDTVs and two HD monitors - I personally have owned TVs that had 8ms (32 inch Zenith), 5ms (42 inch LG) and now currently 2.4ms (55 inch LG) of input lag. I also own two of the “EVO monitors” which have 2ms of lag, but I actually bought them before EVO ever did, lol.
There is a significant difference between the 8ms/5ms and the TV that I have now - I can actually tell a shortening in the time when I push the button and the character on screen reacts. So if you want to play fighting games, I wouldn’t recommend anything over 4ms of input lag, from personal experience. You’ll also want to use HDMI and play in the native resolution of the game (most games are still 720p these days).
Finally, no matter what TV you buy, DISABLE ALL EFFECTS AND PROCESSING FEATURES OF THE TV when playing fighting games. What kyriptic said above is completely true - some of these stupid features can increase your input lag into double digits. This means any of the fancy-shmancy shit that they come up with (MOTION TRUE TECHNOLOGY! BLUR PROCESSING! TRU COLOR MODE!). All of that shit makes your TV “process” the video before displaying it, causing lag. My TV now has both blur and judder enhancement features that make HD TV and blu-ray movies look amazing - but make games lag like crazy. Also, don’t be fooled by “game mode” on most TVs or monitors - they don’t enhance lag or performance, they only adjust colors and usually it doesn’t look any better than if you manually adjust to your liking.
Personally, I am pretty sick of this new HD era crap.
Honestly, think about it for a sec. What if I want to go play SNES, NES, Atari, PS1, PS2, or any other older system? IMO, older video games are 10x better than anything they could ever think of from this day forward. MK9, SSF4 AE, Madden 2020. It really doesn’t matter how hard they try nothing beats

I do find it kind of bullshit that these new technology TVs have shit like lag for our games and old 90s TVs are fine. It begs the question on whether or not newer technology is always better than old tech.
So when’s the next Takashi Cup anyway? Also the date on the next Project Failure would be nice.

I’m actually hype for it coming out though. I’ve just been playing MvC3 and just waiting for it, because of how much its probably going to change my character seems pointless levelingup in SSF4 till its out.
I REALLY want to play Yang and Oni, although after reading all the info released today about him, I seriously think he may be banned. Higher health and stun than Akuma, an assload of moves, second most damaging ultra in the game, a super than can be done on the ground and in the air after an air dash. He’s just crazy. I’m also afraid that Yang may be too weird for me, I really enjoy my fireball characters but if neither of them work out, at least Akuma didn’t get changed too much so I still have him to fall back on.
Akuma is the only true demon. Oni is a poser with a vitamin deficiency.
