His Guy is the same Guy I always lose to with that damned hit confirm off of like 4 hits, then a special, then a follow up juggle…
I have to say that I was surprised at some of his approaches that got him caught in your wheelhouse. He was pretty unsafe.
2 things bother me about Guy. His air throw/flip throw is ridick! and his slide knock down is nasty. Take those away and he is a play toy.
Tip for you…safe jump him after an untechable knockdown and do not let him breathe after that. When he feels pressured, he will probably try to ex spin kick you out of a string. If you can leave little holes in your assault that he thinks are openings but you know are bait, you win.
If you want to know why Guy is dangerous play Guyofkailera. Think he goes to school in Buffalo. So if you are on the east coast have fun with that. I never had a problem beating Guy before I played him, lost so many matches to him, and he mindfucked me for life against Guy and now I lose to really bad ones.
His constant pressure is sickening.
Yeah we have Wednesday night casuals here in NOVA and we get it in every week offline also. That air throw he did caught my backdash which is pretty broken if you ask me. His run slide can go under our U2 and his EX run can go through 3 attacks…ridiculous. I cant seem to ever get the gf safe jump after sweep on him for some reason…I always get EX kicked. Its gotta be an error on my part because I know it can be done and I’ve seen it before…but thats why I didnt try it in the match. I guess its back to training mode lol. Thanks for the advice climaxter. You on PSN or XBOX?
I know that name from somewhere. I dont know if I’ve seen some matches online with him or played him before but I definitely know that name. Whats was the connection like being that you’re on the West Coast?
I’m on the east coast, I’m in NYC.
Oh ok. You said “if you’re on the east coast” so I assumed you were in the west. It sounds like he’s scarred you man lol. I’m sure it made you better though…
No, he made me realize that, online at least, in AE, you have no answer for his pressure. Stop run is -1 I think and he has a 3 frame cr.lk that leads to full combo and knockdown. If you start trying to kongo that for 150 damage he can go to cr.lp to beat the low kongo and go into a combo for full knockdown.
Dude is just good. I beat him a few times but he beat me way more.
In 2012 you’ll have super but yeah… I don’t see it changing much. He isn’t scared of fireballs.
Lol oh man. You cant zone Guy anyway because of his slide so I dont see why he would be afraid of fireballs. But I hear you, that pressure is a bitch for the old man.
Well that’s what I am saying, he is not afraid of fireballs and if he wake up does that crap with EX his slide becomes armor break so no kongo and tatsu goes right over it.
Yeah, I used to question how much playing online really affected my timing, but things that I can do 99% in training drop to 75% online. I wasn’t even sure if we could safe jump Guy because I was getting beat out online. Sure enough, recently in training I recorded a safe flip kick after a forward throw by Gouken and then played Guy on wake up. No matter what I did with Guy’s spin kick, Gouken was safe. Trying that online is not even close to consistent.
I’m on PSN, my tag is the same as my name here.
Let’s go already! I’ve got the popcorn waiting!
Alright man…if it’s cool, I’ll add ya and we can get some sets in.
I’d love to see them delfie, look forward to it
When we try to play hard for HardKnock mixups and flip kick setups, those crucial frames we lose especially on those "little room for error matchups " , and or situations i.e: Blankas, Guys, Akumas (flip pressure game mainly), Cammy, Dic’s Scissor Kick pressure and some of Oni’s frame traps and DJ’s Flash kick, and some safe jumps situations as youve mentioned , really can piss a Gouken off!
I see us losing anywhere from 3-7 frames on average in a compromised setting and when we go for the gusto and try to abide by frame data things such as those become our undoing.
He reps it pretty hard. DElf definitely tightening shit up. CANT WAIT TIL YOU COME UP NORTH young homie so we can do some teams
Hey guys, it’s been a while. Stopped posting and playing for a while, but I’ve recently gotten a new decent computer that can actually run AE, so I’ve started playing again. Here’s a few matches from a recent endless game I had against this DP-happy Oni. Probably not the best set of matches to show since I do a LOT of silly mistakes (and so does my opponent), but I think I show improvement in other aspects as well. I guess a mix of non-shitty FPS and practice has helped improve my anti air reaction, so I’ve been able to use ex tatsus for anti-air a lot more effectively now, as you’ll see in the vid.
I’m hoping to see more feedback on my general play; What I’m doing right, what I’m doing wrong, and stuff I NEED to start doing. Pointing out things like “you shouldn’t have dropped your combo there” or “you shouldn’t have jumped in there” won’t be too helpful, since I’m aware of most of these silly mistakes… I do them a lot, but I know I’ll able to fix them through more practice and less panic mashing. But stuff like playing the wrong way, etc I’ll never know unless someone tells me what I’m doing wrong. lol… uh, well whatever it is, any kind of criticism and advice is welcome =P
Here you go, its 9 mins but u can skip to whichever match u feel like if u dont have the time.
0:00 - loss
2:02 - win
4:54 - loss
7:26 - win
(note that the video jerks a couple of times due to fraps or something)
(also note that since this is on PC, it’s not ver 2012, but that shouldnt matter too much since I’m still lacking the fundamentals more than anything(

Short post cause I dont have time but…
All you did for like pretty much all of the matches were jump in, block… sweep.
Footsies were basically non existent.
Also, full screen you only wanted to jump in instead of fb war, which you could beat Oni at.
Has anyone found a way to Vortex Oni??
You can stuff his dp with j. lk, but as far as stuffing his HP Srk with Dive kick… it ain’t happening.
He can also do a crouching dp and hit you 2 times to beat parry.
RadioGamma- The only way I can beat most Oni’s is to keep them out per zoning and bait his Srks through Faux Safe Jumping or EX Flip up close. When he does slash, especially EX you can either grab him out of it, EX Tatsu, or just jump back and you can land a max combo when he whiffs. Aside from punishing mistimed slashes, his only weakness in this MU is his fireball and not being able to FADC his srk. I thought I saw you beat his ground pound with cr. mk per tech, but I haven’t tested it yet to be sure.
Aside from that, his rush down is Awesome, something that Gouken doesn’t deal with too well.
I dont think there is a full proof way to. What I normally do is after a knockdown just early jump…because Oni’s DP is so awesome, Oni players normally just DP everything, but Oni cant FADC a DP on block so you’ll get a punish afterwards. Or sometimes I’ll stand at st.km range after a knockdown and hk.GF on his wakeup. If you time it to where you’re over his head about 2-3 frames after he wakes and gf parry, if he DP’s you’ll only receive 1 hit of his DP and then you can continue to punish. I came across it one day after figuring out how to GF parry Guy’s DP. If you just do it in front of him on wakeup you’ll parry the first hit and then eat the other 2-3 hits. So after a knockdown I would delay my GF, do a hk.GF instead of a mk one, and be on top of him (and it appears that you’re doing a deep dive kick), parry and you’ll parry only one hit of hit EX Spin Kick and land on the ground on the other side of them safely while they’re still sailing to the moon.
