Thanks guys. I think I’ve improved a lot since that tournament, and a lot of it was thanks to you guys.

I’m learning to attack much better. Still have a long way to go on matchups and such.

I will try to post some videos of casuals of me against chi, that guy is the devil.

So… no opinions on my matches then?

I’m pretty much the only person who comments on these for some reason and the link was way too choppy for me =\

by default im reluctant to respond to these , but ima give it a look see brb
links dead after a month and a half? wth? jk…shit is dead tho

I just spent a half hour writing up Tiberious, and this damned site just gobbled up my message. The link works fine for me.

Tiberious- The major criticism I have was you missing some easy links mainly because of direction mishaps. Hit confirm with cl.mp if it is even a little bit ambiguous. You took some risks last round with the massive footsies but see below…

I praise you for reading your opponent and watching how he reacted until you recognized how to obliterate him. Your last round with the footsies was HUGE, you made Ken look like a playdoll and for someone with that nasty three frame invincible move, that takes skill but even more so, understanding of your opponent. Well done.

Yeah. I’m always getting myself crossed up and coming out with EX Kongo. It’s my biggest problem even today. What I’m trying to do is keep it simple and scaled as little as possible. My biggest fear is if I’m trying to start linking with cl.MP, I’ll be massively screwing that up (it’s what, a 1-frame?), leading to big punish opportunities.

This was just my first match from the first ranbat of the season. If you click over to Part 3, I’ve got other matches recorded there.

Edit: Four matches of mine in Part 3, conveniently bookending it. So, first two and last two.

@Tiberious: you got to learn the os palm vs akuma teleport. Would have helped u alot. Also you need to keep in mind how much meter you have. you could have made some of those palms safe vs akuma. Also u need to practice throwing balrog out of straights. other than that good games

2 frame, 3 with plinking.

The benefit it will bring to your game severely outweighs the short term losses.

Agreed. cl.mp has made me more confident in my rushdown and made me more competitive. From it I have a chance to do nasty damage if it hits or use a safe blockstring if it is blocked. My current favorite is cl.mp > cr. fp xx lp. hado FADC cr.lk xx hk tatsu. After the FADC I would do cr.fp xx ex.palm but the timing and distance is more strict (bad for online) and the damage scaling ends up making this almost not worth it. I only wish Gouken had more hitstun on some of his other moves.

My timing ability is so garbage, I’m not sure I can get this down without just always palming after the DK. Those lenient inputs aren’t gonna help that. But, I can try. I understand the concept, so I might achieve some limited success.

Yeah. I usually don’t FADC as much as I probably ‘should’. I view my meter as stored threat for the opponent, and don’t like throwing it away to make a single mistake safer. I’ll likely have to judge who has what that can punish my EX Palm, and how bad before I start taking those 3-bar chances.

By this I’m assuming you mean grabbing his outstretched arm? Again, I’m garbage at reflex-type stuff. My Counters against the straights were borne from recognizing when he would do them and predicting it (You’ll notice times I had a Counter out and no straight came. I thought it would, but he held off).

So I watched the matches in part 3. The Kongo FADC ultra wins are legendary! The same things you lost to are the same things I lose to, even though we play differently. The Akuma vortex, and the poke happy aggressive Bison. I have nothing to help you with the Akuma match except try cr.lk on wake up. My only suggestion for the Bison match would be to tap him with some lvl 1 and 2 focus attacks when he’s moving back and forth like that. You see that and you have to register that he has no charge and therefore no armor breaker. Focus will beat Bison’s st.hk assault, but only when he’s doing that back and forth jiggle like that.

Already working on that. Taking such a lopsided loss like that make me look for a counter to the vortex BS.

Another facet I really haven’t explored. I think I can count the number of times I’ve actually used a Focus Attack outside of stun on one hand… since vanilla dropped. Any time I’ve tried to charge a Focus, I’ve gotten knocked right out of it (hit twice, or poked out of the start of the unarmored attack), so I judged it useless early and discarded it. I’ll see what I can do when I’m against a Bison, though. Anything to make him stick that st.HK out much less…

st.hp

It can stuff it, and when it does you get the counter hit for almost 140 damage. You can link sweep after the CH for a hardknockdown and an extra 100 damage.

Hmmm, I must absorb this!

I have a few videos I have uploaded. I know its asking alot but I wonder if someone can give me tips or what I should of done to win my matches?

First one atm; but so far, a few things stuck out

-AFAIK, you never went for a backthrow>Ultra
-Work on implementing Gouken’s flip mixups into your game; that’s one of his only assets that set him above just being a below-average zoner
-Also, unless you’re dead-set on sticking with Shin-Sho, try giving Ultra 2 a shot; it’s a LOT better since 2012

I noticed a few times you missed the cl. mp>cr. hp link; take some time in training to get the timing down, this is by far his best hitconfirm into most of his moveset. Also, work into teching throws; this, like landing combos, mostly requires time and consistency. Lastly, although none of them are completely safe on block, work on throwing a FB after cl. mp and cr. fp, it’s a lot safer than leaving it open, and can be FADC’d into his hitconfirms if not blocked.

Keep working at it =)
Also, if you’re looking for getting some practice in, a few of us run sessions during various times on XBL

Yea I am trying to get my links down but I still get a lil nervous when playing but sure I truly need some training so hit me up. My Gamertag is:Smash The Halo but I wont be on today due to the fact I am going to be at our weekly fighting game event but I will be on tomorrow

I was wondering if anyone would help me critique the set I had with alex valle. We played 11 matches and I ended up taking 7 games. Pretty happy about that but I feel there were things I could have done better. Any takers?

Post it up. Would be helpful for you to explain why you do certain things as well.

I’ll have it up as soon as possible. thanks!
