MAME 0.119 is now up at ddememame.hp.infoseek.co.jp. The reason I think it’s worth it to upgrade is because they finally released another alternate version with NeoGeo and CPS drivers only (last one to have that was 0.117?).
Go and get it.

Gaijinblaze = does it require restart after each freekin game ? [as in playing someone line and then they leave and someone else joins and it automatically drops you upon starting]
They did it with 0.118 as well. As far as I can tell they did it with every major version change (eg 118 to 119, as opposed to 118 to 118u2, etc)
Also according to their page, this is the last public release.
I thought it was a final release for the 0.119.
So, how good has online play gotten with Third Strike? I can’t imagine playing the game with too much input lag, considering it’s a hit confirm fest.
If you play on p2p its fine. Very smooth. I think its 57/60 frames.
What’s the difference for 119?

Fixed recent changes to the MB86233 core that broke Virtua Racing.

Added intelligence around the UPDATE_HAS_NOT_CHANGED flag, which is
returned from VIDEO_UPDATE. If all screens in the game return
UPDATE_HAS_NOT_CHANGED, then that frame is effectively skipped (up
to 3 frames in a row) in terms of throttling. This allows games that
render every other frame to not throttle during their “off frames”.
Updated the midvunit driver to return UPDATE_HAS_NOT_CHANGED. You
should see an improvement in framerate with throttling enabled for
these games. Note that this only kicks in if frameskip is set to 0.

Shouldn’t have jumped the gun so quickly… Anyone else have an issue with 119 where you start a game with Direct3D enabled and one of the image enhancements selected, then the game screen closes right after it loads? With no filter chosen or with DirectDraw, everything operates normally.
Yeah. It does that with 3s. Not sure if its the same all the cps3 games thou. But for me, DD/Hardware stretch looks better than most of the image enhancement options in there.
Anyways, if you are having problems with netplay drop game thing, use this neocps build: http://civilian.movsq.net/mame32ppk119.7z
this part of the thread has been long dead, but since I was bored I fixed Shin Akuma’s blue palette, for those that care :
Ok, so whats up with the accuracy of the emulation for sf3 in comparison to the ps2 version? Is it possible to run a tournament using the emulated version or the ps2 version is more appropriated?
AFAIK, everything but the sound is arcade perfect in MAME.
You can run a torney using the emulated game if you want to.
The emulated PC version has input lag, so the PS2 version would be the only version to consider for tournament play.
poonage ? what stick do you use?
Anyone notice the control difference between 0117 and 0119? I’m using an analog stick from my gamepad, and the control from 0117 feels more comfortable and lenient to use than in 0119. :bluu:
use some USB tweaker programs to bump your refresh rate up to 1000mhz. if 1ms of lag bothers you, then i yeah, you’ll have to go use the PS2 or xbox versions.
1ms of lag
1/100th of a second in a 60 fps game… should not be alot that is like 1/4 of a frame… For all we know ps2 or w/e can have that exact same input lag. (doubt it, but still) Seriously, i play with out the usb port switch (my vista reacts weird in school with the patch) and i can do kara dp, TKD etc with NO problems what so ever… so i mean… <shrugs>
I do use the USB tweaker, and I get 1000mhz with both my DOA4 stick and my HRAP2 + Pelican combo.
There is definitely input lag within Nebula and MAME which is completely separate from any USB or video issues. It feels like about 2 frames. We all tried to play on it seriously one night, and realized it almost instantly.
Tested on two different PCs with two different sets of joysticks. This is with vSync OFF of course, as we already know vSync ON will add another 2 frames.
The experts do not lie =)
I didn’t USB could poll at 1GHz. :lovin:
But yeah, a lot of USB buses support polling up to 1000Hz = 1ms = 0.06 frame lag (strictly due to USB). If there’s input lag then it’s due to something else. What kind of monitor are you guys playing on?
