CPS3 Broken!!!

Can someone post a link to a USB tweaker or two…

lol sry xD

anyway, seriously? 2 frames? i didn’t notice that, poonage. i hope “the experts” can explain why this happens.

Looks like the author of MAME Plus! Plus! has decided 0.119 will be the last public release :wasted:

Yep, I’ve noticed this on Mame/Nebula/Kawaks/Raine. Certain games (like shmups) are way harder to play in these emus than their pcb/console counterparts. One thing I noticed, press left, then pause. Now let go of left and unpause. You’ll notice a slight stutter as you continue to move left for a couple of frames. Not a scientific test at all, I know, but it shows something is afoot. :looney: Incidentally, I don’t get input lag as noticeable as this on any other emulators or full games I use on my PC.

ok. im not scrolling through this whole thread to find the answer so im posting it now. how do you get the doa stick to recognize with ++117 and ++119? these emu’s dont see it at all. i enable joystick, noting shows up in axes window(im assuming something should). i even used xpadder and no luck. my stick is fine. i use it on older mame builds, ggpo, doujin games, etc, with no issues.

so uhm

wtf?

=(

EDIT: extra info, right before the game boots with mame ++119. it says:

Direct Input: Unable to set Absolute Mode for Joystick 0 (Arcade Stick(Dead or Alive 4stick))

ill click ok to the error, emu loads, no stick support. bleh

Does it work whit regular mame builds (Command Line MAME and MAME32) ?

just edited my post. ima try official release here in a minute

edit: same problem bleh

Hmmm, I’ve never heard about this “Absolute Mode” before.
I guess the guys at mameworld can help ya.

this is funny. i turn joystick support off. i even check the universal cps3 options to make sure joystick is off, and for some reason, the emu still errors me with the direct input.

i don’t experience any delays what so ever… and i’m using 125 mhz… i know you say there is 8ms lag but i can kara dp 100%, kara everything 100%… the speed seems dead on for arcade to me.

Kara-palms, any quickly executed moves, and combos are actually all terrible ways to test for lag. The reason is because execution only tests your muscle memory, which doesn’t depend on a visual stimulus.

This is what caused the Evo North debacle in 2006; JChensor thought that the HDTVs didn’t lag because all of his combos worked, but he had fooled himself because he knew the combos so well that he didn’t need to directly react to anything on the screen. Of course, within minutes of playing, all the top players knew that there was lag and SRK staff bought regular TVs for the tournament before it began.

In order to truly feel the lag, you’d have to do something like: try to do a jump in attack at the last possible moment you think you can do it before you hit the ground based on where your character is in the air. Of course, not everyone has good enough reactions like some of us to do these tests.

When we play on the emulators, we can feel the lag immediately at the character select screen and when we try to jump normally or move around our characters.

Again, the experts do not lie =)

Yeah just doing combos really isn’t a good way of testing out for lag. There were times where I had problems doing a simple super in mvc1 on nebula. I thought it was ridiculous not being able to pull off qcf + PP/KK on my stick on nebula compared to consoles and arcades. The usb tweak really helped solved that problem even though it would still have 1ms of lag. Its a lot better than 8ms though. Usb tweaking feels pretty dead on accurate and probably the best thing to patch for emulators.

That’s really strange… I use a DOA4 stick and it works perfect for me. Have you tried using the XBCD custom drivers? That’s what I use. But even so, I’m surprised it wouldn’t work with Xpadder for you, by binding your directions to the arrow keys or something.

Yep that was the problem I had. Couldn’t solve it for weeks and decided to stick with lower mame versions. I could use .117 and down.

Cousin came over and set up XBCD for me. It works now. Just use those drivers if you want to play. Even joy2key and xpadder won’t work.

well. i had a strong feeling that the xbcd driver would work. problem was tho, that i tried to get the xbcd driver to work on countless times in the past. i tried every tutorial, guide, blah blah blah. and the original driver would just reinstall itself. to be honest i didnt mind, since the stick works fine on everything i throw at it, until these new mame builds came out,

still had problems. so i said fuck it. got a program to look at product and vendor id values on the usb port that the stick is plugged in, and added a line to the xbcd.inf to support those values that the doa stick shows, and it worked without a problem. really surprised with myself lol.

so im all good now. thanks

why can’t I play 3s in one player mode? it only works in p2p??

whats the story with having to restart mame after each play

Is waiting for MvC2

Can anyone help me figure out how to host P2P Kalliera using Mame++ version 119? I’ve been hosting fine for a week, just by setting up a virtual server for port 27886 (D-Link 624 router). When I would host, I would just hit the whatismyip button and it would give me blahblahIPaddress:port, with the port being different each time I hosted. That worked fine and people could connect to me, but now when I press whatismyip nothing comes up, and giving my IP address (found through something like ipchicken.com) and using port 27886 doesn’t work.

Any suggestions?
