Covers and brief synopsis for Issue 8

HOLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY SSSSSHHHHHITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Nice, i hope Mika is in it.

Edayan… heck yeah!!

m121akuma, you can see some of his work on Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo.

You can see his style shines in the Rival School Series, as well as SF EX series and SF2 Revival on the Game Boy Advance. (Nortlee’s avatar)

No way the guy from Rival Schools, sweeet. He and the 3s guy are my favorite game artist.

That’s sweeeeet, the art in rRval Schools & Super SF2 Turbo Revival rules (I wouldn’t have known who this artist was had you not explained though so thanks Mr.Twelve) I look forward to seeing that variant, which issue is it for?

Are Udon putting Sakura in SFII or are they just making SFA3 take SFII’s place? I forgot.

I ask this because Sakura is on the covers of #7 & #8, and “SFII” starts in #7.

That being said…

Issue #7: Definitely getting the A cover. B is a good cover, but not my style. I will say that the artist for B is very good though.

Issue #8: Outside of Sakura’s awkward pose and Balrog looking like he’s watching porn, this may just be the first B cover I get. Though the new challengers cover is pretty nice too.

I think issue 7 starts a storyline slightly between SFA3 and SF2, when Ryu begins his journey to train around the world. Technically, the actual SF2 storyline is the tournament, so this area of the plot actually has a lot of leeway. Probably why Udon decided to cover it next.

Its kinda of a shadey time line… Yeah, SFII is really like ONLY the tournament. So this period between now and the Tourny begins would be something between Alpha & II. The funny thing is that in real life, they made SFII before Alpha with only 16 characters there, while they did a prequel with a much bigger cast. So now when we straightened out this timeline, we will proably keep the existing Alpha somehow in the SFII timeline. Got some plans going on… you will see. It should be pretty fun!

cool the rival school guy is gonna be the next guest artist  that’s awsome, i loved the art for that, i remember playing the game and watching the animation and wishing there was more :stuck_out_tongue: i’m confused, what issue is he gonna be doing? 9 right? since 7 and 8 are already done…anybody have a site of his work? i would love to see Edayan stuff,

oh yeah and i asked this question a while back, but udoneko, u were gone for a while so here the question again…

are any of the guest artist gonna be returning for a second round? or are we just gonna find new artist to do every issue? thanks

Good stuff UDON its nice to see you guys going out of your way on this comic making it something specail like getting different artists and Making the plot as in depth as SF story line can be by placing rose in beggining of things was a nice touch.

For people who don’t know Mark brooks is known for his work on Transformers…

btw UDON you think you could put the back up story of Go hibiki and Possibly Ryu meet up with dan again that would be awsome oh yea and is Danimation still working for you guys… Good stuff Erik keep it up

For issue #8, cover B looks cool. For issue #7… I think I will settle for the foil cover. I don’t like Larroca’s art-work anymore. Looks washed out. Worst looking Bison ever.

Say, So issue #7 marks street fighter 2 while the first seven issues (if you include 0) are alphas? Makes sense.

Nortlee, you sure aren’t a picky guy with those covers, but I sure am.

Edayan, NICE!! Can’t wait for that one.

Still hoping for covers from Kinu Nishimura and Akiman in the future…

Issues 7-12 are actually more of an “in-between Alpha and SF2” thing as far as I can tell.

Do we know how many issues SF2 will take? Theres gotta be a LOT of fighting, considering its a tournament with 16 fighters… The good part is that SF2 has less plot than Alpha, so it shouldnt be too much trouble.

I just hope they dont carry characters from SFA to SF2 and SF2 into SF3. That would be pretty silly. Maybe in the sidelines, but not as part of the plot. If guys like Guile or Cammy showed up in SF3, it would take even more from the poor cast of the game.

SF2 will also last “only” six issues. Although I do recall Udoneko remarking something along the lines of them considering increasing the amount (of which I hope they do. Actually, I think they should increase the overall amount of issues for this current arc, too, really. Alpha (which has all the SF2 characters, anyways) is so big that they really will need the extra space. In fact, I’m thinking maybe they should include another arc to cover some Final Fight aspect or something (I can’t fathom how they’ll be able to fit or weave the FF characters into either of the current planned arcs), unless they plan on using Hugo’s Poison to bring that in, later.

I think the best way to go would be to leave FF out entirely and go on with the SF story into SF2. A lot of Alpha is being neglected right now. Maybe after SF2 is done, they can do sort of an off-shoot comic covering the Final Fight story as it connects into Alpha. That would give them a chance to do three things at once: introduce the FF characters, flesh out the Alpha storyline, and continue the main SF story into SF2 and SF3 without slowing down unnecessarily.

Just my opinion.

P.S. Why is Time_Stop so critical all the time? Seems like his facial expression is always drawn by the SSF2 artist. (exhibit A, exhibit B, exhibit C)

Well, I don’t think so necessarily. I don’t mind Guile or Cammy in SF3. I really wouldn’t see why not Guile especially appear since Chun li appeared in SF3. Guile is just too cool not to appear in SF3. Plus I think SF2 in this comic might be quite different than what we expect. I think Sui CHong will spice something creative with the storyline for both SF2 and 3 and 4 and 5 if there will be one. Well, I guess SF3 might come in about mabye three years if SF2 will take up a lot of issues anyway.

The SF3 cast is underwritten, under-developed. So they NEED the development. Putting Guile, Sagat and people like those in the story would steal away their only chance of getting some development.

Hell, the only characters that got any development in the first arc were Ryu, Ken and Akuma! Now do you want them to make the cast larger and larger, so the same thing happen in SF2 and SF3?

I criticize because it helps more than sucking their dicks 24/7 like most people here do. The comic has the potential to be really sweet, but it still isnt. Im not like a kid that sees a Tatsumaki and thinks the comics “awesome”. I need the writing and the pace to go with it.

Im sticking with it because they CAN fix it, if they want to.

The thing is, most fans are narrow-minded. Like the guy from Cammyfan.com. “Oh, my favorite character needs to be in the comic, why are they wasting their time with ___”. SF3 has its own cast, and you expect them to put the SF2 guys in there to fuck everything up? Thats fanboy-ism.

Just because you like Guile better doesnt mean he deserves to be there. He certainly isnt above Ibuki or Q or Elena, despite how many fans hes got.

I hope Udon is above crap like that.

Time Stop, your suggestion and comments are appreciated.

It is too early to tell what direction we are taking on SF3. The next arc will be something between Alpha and the Tournament. So there will be more Alpha stuff still. For people who are concerned about us cutting the Alpha story short, let me tell you that the Alpha stuff does not end with issue 6.

To us, the first 6 issue is much like a teaser. More stuff will come in the next 10 to 12 issues or so. Yup, we are not limiting the next arc to 6 issues. It will probably be longer that just 6.
