Covers and brief synopsis for Issue 8

And for the record: I do not agree that everyone else here is “sucking our dick”. That is very disrespectful for all of the people who make this place so strong.

While we look at the criticism and comments, your encouragements are what gets us going, fuel our energy to make the book better and better, knowing that our hard work will be appreciated.

timestop i respect your opinion and i atually agree with most of your posts. but u r making it tuff for me to agree with u when u use language liek that in that context. i dont mind the swearing but u r kind of insulting the ppl here and thats no cool.

i hope SF2 will be more than 6 issues, otherwise it will seem rush again, IMO 6 issues should take care of the tourney in iteself… but u need to also have everyone train adn actually set up the tournament, adn then the figths…can it be done in 6…we will see.

i know udon wants to make it longer but because of expenes, lack of sales or even the contract or whatever it isnt that possible. but here hoping.

Actually it is possible that some of us actually just do like the comic books & the job Udon has done, if you hate it so much why stick around? I personally despite the speed it is going at like the story for the SF Udon comics, hell it could be a lot worse look at the complete rubbish that Malibu made:rolleyes: When you’ve seen how rubbish it can be you can’t help but respect the effort being made with Udon’s comic, it has nothing to do with sucking up.

The only time the fans of the comic here did start saying how good the comic was aka sucking up IYO, was because thanks to a certain somebody’s comments here it looked like cancellation was plagueing the Udon team’s minds.

Hey, i was trying to put some valid criticism there (like in the other thread, pointing things out clearly, breaking in sections), and got the reply with the pics of SSF2 (“exhibit a” and so on).

A lot of stuff pissed me off (like the tanko/TPB, which i think is a big slap in the face of TPB fans, and i know a couple guys in another forum who refuse to buy it because of the variant covers), but i still want them to get feedback to help the comic. I do think a post with the good and the bad is much more interesting than “ohmygodawesome”, and it heps to put things in perspective.

Yeah sorry, I wasn’t in a good frame of mind at the time, well you did call us all suck-ups afterall lol.
There was one comment that particually grasped my attention, something like “it’s not a book or a manga its a comic”, the comcs are pretty short & you can’t have a comic without something going on each issue so I guess really there’s little choice but to rush it, otherwise we’d be overwhelmed with anxiety lol.

Sorry, i was just trying to lighten up the mood a bit. It’s possible to give criticism and be supportive at the same time, isn’t it? And who says that just because i was joking around that i don’t think your opinion is valuable?

The only thing i care about is that things are kept civil on this board. In other words, you can use whatever language you want as long as it’s not personally insulting to whoever you’re talking to. In my opinion, a lot more gets accomplished in discussions when people don’t take stuff personally, when there is mutual respect, and when there’s a sense of humor involved (because it prevents people from taking things personally).

Edit: I agree that taking the time to develop and share a well-formed opinion is valuable, but giving support is also meaningful. For example, you complain about the TPB not having the backup stories, but the reasons for that format have been explained and discussed in depth. The TPB is meant to introduce people to the series who don’t usually read comics. That’s why it’s in digest format and that’s why it’s coming out before the start of the next arc. That’s also why it’s relatively inexpensive.

If you have a better idea, please go ahead and suggest it. But keep in mind that reprinting all the backup stories could very well anger Udon’s core fanbase that has spent considerable resources in collecting the first six issues. Otherwise, if you agree that they are making the best choice possible, it doesn’t make sense to me that you are being critical instead of supportive. If the fans of Udon’s SF series can’t even be expected to lend their support, how can anyone expect to get new people interested?

I think we all have dreamnt about a high-quality SF comic. And we may get there with Udon. Ill try to keep my head, so i can give valid criticism.

Okayyyy. Just because I suggest that Guile appear doesn’t mean that the SF3 story line will get messed up for cryin out loud. I only ask for a few characters from SF2 to appear in SF3. I only thought about Guile appearing in SF3 because he has potential in that SF3 plot just like Chun Li, Ryu Ken, and Akuma.

Well, I do think that the SF3 plot could use some development and there is nothing wrong about that. Neither is useing only a relative handful of SF2 characters. Guile is very usable character just a much as Ryu. Udon can make something creative if they wanted to with him if they wanted to.

Let me tell you that the SF3 characters you mentioned being above Guile are not right for one thing. Q being above Guile? Q is a shit design by Capcom first of all and very uncreative. Elena, Ibuki, are good designs.

All I am saying is that Guile can have a good purpose to be in SF3. He has a lot of potential. He is 100% original. He does have a very developed character.

There is the opinion that given the limited amount of space of the comic book format to actually develop characters, there isn’t enough space to split among SF2 characters AND SF3 characters even if it’s only a handful, in particular since SF3 characters need all the development they can get. There is of course an alternate opinion that there is enough room for a couple SF2 chars to be in there.

The way I see it, considering that Alpha (which has all the SF2 chars) has like, twice as many characters as SF3, if they can successfully cram all the alpha characters into the limited pages they have now, and have that same amount of pages for SF3, there should be more than enough space for SF3 and some SF2 chars to fit together. HOWEVER, if SF3 takes up less pages than this Alpha + SF2 saga does, then of course, there’s less space to go around.

That’s just from a spacial issue. There are other issues such as “Will Guile fit in with the SF3 cast when he’s never been with them in the games?” and “Will there be any plot left to do with Guile?”, etc etc.

And of course, there’s the possible “What the heck comes after SF3 is finished if all the Alpha characters have been left behind for so long that it’d be awkward for them to come back into the comic? Will the comic forever keep using the SF3 characters from then on?” etc questions that will happen if the comic goes on for long enough.
