Graphics… no need to say more.
Characters… Zero,Mars People? Athena,Red Arremer?.. GTFO!
System… where is roll, and run or dash? since there is no airguard then where is parry or just defence?
the only thing I like about this game, is the intros and Dan!
I realize that by even posting this, people are gonna think I’m a total jackass…but what the hell :wgrin:
So…I think there’s some things that could’ve been improved about this game. The charge moves, for example, are kinda crap. But, I’ve never really understood why everyone hates this game so much. I actually enjoyed playing it quite a bit.
I’m seriously curious…what ruins this game for everyone?
Uhhhh, but why? Why is it that it’s “cool” to make an “evil” version out of someone? Hell, it is understandable from a canon point of view in the case of Ryu and Akuma, and even Dark Sakura is sorta considered as a tongue-in-cheek joke, but Ken? Talk about hella random…and unnecessary.
K’ wasn’t in NGPC MotM? Are YOU sure? nvm. He wasn’t. Thought he was. lol
No, I’m just Honest Monk, not some mate-ing friend of yours and…
Not exactly. Summon Geese for a special move then go in with the super Psycho. All this in black, and blood red, and off- piss yellow, and any other 8 bit color you can think of.
But Leona rivaling Guile? Someone’s gonna go home and be a family wife with a yellow updo and army boots.
Well, the SF characters felt a bit different, but at least half of that was because of the differences in the fighting engine. For that matter, the SF characters feel different in the various capcom games as well.
I still don’t really get it. From what I’ve gathered over time, it sounds like most people didn’t like it because they thought that game wasn’t really balanced well. But that can be said of most of the fighting games.
Most of the posts in this thread seem to bag on the style of some of the characters sprites, or the lackluster sound f/x. But certainly that can’t be the entire reason why people don’t like this game. Is it?
Let’s just say this… the game is fun to play with certain characters, but only in single player mode. I, for one, was really glad to see Shiki in 2D, gave me some hope for the future. And then they followed her up with Asura in NGBC (though I didn’t like how he played). But sadly Gandara is still no where to be see. He’d make a kick-ass mid-boss if NGBC2 ever get’s made.
There’s no way SvC even comes close to a competition level fighter, it’s just too broken. Which is why, I guess, people just didn’t bother with it after the first dollar. Fun to pass the time, sure… but outside of that, not really worth the money based against the other games available at the time. The only real initial draw it had was the fact it was a cross over title.
P.S. I didn’t mind the graphical style at all, I just think the Capcom characters got the long end of the ugly stick on this one.
I enjoy using Mr. Karate, Earthquake, Goenitz, and Shiki.
Demitri’s new sprite was awesome.
I really like the Crystal Shrine and Power Generator themes.
It was nice also to see someone try to implement Zero, Red Arremer, Mars People, and Goddess Athena in a fighting game. Good to see Tessa in a crossover too.
The character portraits were nice and the dialogues were enjoyable.
The Exceed move was an interesting idea.
…And that’s all the positive things I have to say about SvC.
