Copy THIS! The Taskmaster thread!

st.M, it may reduce like no one’s business, but it’s my fav. Sent has some of the best air-to-airs, probably tied with Nemesis. Standing normals, though, Task wins. Well, actually, Vergil’s M’s are super-useful, I’d say the fact that Taskmaster can whiff moves into special attacks, that’s big. Anyway, Task is close to best for ground normals, air normals he’s still pretty high up on the list.

Anyone know if Taskmaster can loop S superjumpcancelled into QCF+H in XF3? I’m making Taskmaster XF combos, and I want something that looks silly.

Edit: Ended up getting to my PS3 quicker than I thought, MK night at our house is apparently tomorrow, so I could lab. It loops twice.Wow, really? Only twice?

Btw, I’m sure this mixup is known, but on meaty incoming in the left corner, you can do the following:

jM jH f+H

On block you can do triple H arrow which crosses up and leads to a full combo

On hit you can do the usual jump confirm with either
jH xx M arrows, or jH jS into Shield Skills.

Now why only left corner?

Because for some weird reason H Arrows crosses up in the left corner and not in the right corner.

and if pushblocked?

I didn’t test it that far, but I think you can throw them if they pushblock the jH after doing a mightyswing. I need to test the setup though.

i’m sure other folks have figured this out or mentioned it by now, but against cornered opponents taskmaster basically gets ‘free’ unblockables. here’s a vid showing that concept with frank assist and the damage you get off 'em. also a snap setup with that team that doubles as an incoming character setup with multiple options (guard break airthrow, crossunder, meaty into unblockable) though i only showed the unblockable one

What Sword Master did you use at the second and third combos to link cr.M with? Or does it work with any of the three?

That’s crL, and it only links iirc if you space it perfectly, you won’t be able to do this if they don’t pushblock. You get the link guranteed in XFactor no matter how deep the headbutt hit is.

I wonder if in the corner Vergil’s Rapid Slash gives enough time for a Sword master unblockable…

i believe it does. same with nova’s shield assist, comedically. i think you might be able to hit vergil out of the setup when doing it though. not 100% sure on that but the delay on his assist is a bit strange so, yeah.

i bet jam session, tatsu, and eye all work for it too. maybe other long hitting assists with no gap between the hits, too.

testing it, yeah you can jab vergil out of rapid slash but then you get hit by the sword part so it’s a trade in their favor. same with eye, and chris machinegun and nova shield. (they would all work otherwise) akuma tatsu and cold star don’t seem to work as effectively- it seems rather inconsistent in comparison.

for cart you can only jab out of it if you don’t pushblock and also the taskmaster fucks up the timing and calls frank after the charge instead of before or at the same time

You can also do THC with Tasky Dante. Dante stay there shooting for ages. XF right away for a kill, or wait but then the timing might be strict (but I think you can still convert for a full combo, can’t remember atm)

thc xf unblockables on incoming should be a staple of every point task based team imo. he has too much risk of being wiped by random xf3 shit, and the most popular of those guys (vergil) is 100% free to them so it’s a really strong method of fucking those teams over if you get through their first two characters without losing task+the char behind him. it’s also good for removing those teams that are based on the middle character, though that’s more against the character loyalist types who tend to have a strong second or last character to make up for their weaker first one.

the guys i know who can do it for sure when behind task are dante, deadpool, trish, nova (it’s pretty tight for this one) and frank. good team members in general.

The good thing about Dante is that you don’t need the XF to connect the UB, you can get it with normal THC too.

Haggar lariat should pull it off too.

They may be able to use some kind of slide move to get you both.

Yup, I already use the same setup you use with Jam Session and Million Dollar THCs, Vergil is also extremely free to them and it’s easy to setup as if you space Shield Skills correctly you’ll always beat Helm Breaker on incoming. Fuck you Vergil.

So what’s the best setup to keep your opponent from doing stuff as they drop in to THC-> XF? (I’d be using Task+Arthur.) I’m thinking charged up arrow, link THC? If they take the hit, THC should combo, and if they block they should be pushed down into the THC.

Which characters does Task need to be scared of with this strategy? Seems like Zero/Dorm/Strange/Arthur are the main concerns (characters with invincible projectile supers).

Shield Skills will generally beat characters with no dash or double jump options easily. Dashback Up Arrows will cover the rest. I don’t recommend doing H arrows in the corner itself, it’s extremely negative on block and is not THC cancelable like Shield Skills, doing up arrows midscreen is better. You can setup a direct unblockable with Jam Session + Shield Skills, but the THC is much easier to time and setup safely.

I haven’t personally tested escapes from the setup, but Phoenix/Morrigan/Sent can escape the meaty. Phoenix/Morrigan can blow XFactor in the THC and bust out using their invincible supers, along with the other characters you mentioned.
