Dorm/Task/Doom was my secondary in the vanilla days, with missiles dorm gets to run & spell up all day, which should be even more effective now. But just as it’s said above, switch it up depending if you wanna run (RUN!) with Dorm, or go for cheap teleport+ 6C + Beam rushdown. If dorm has both h.Arrows & plasma beam, he can go for those tricks much more often by alternating assists.

Yeah 5B was/is my goto move, so I never really bothered with 2C. But just like with shotos, at max range those tippy toes can be quite unexpected. I love it.

PS: How do you all feel about j.A? It’s quick… I’ve been trying to test it as a air to air interrupt when the opp is right in your face (making b and c too slow) , but too far for a throw attempt.

It’s a classic case of my Ammy play bleeding over to other characters…

j.A is a cool situational poke for when they happen to be at exactly that area. That’s my opinion.

Haha indeed. Two situations:

If the opponent. blocks a swing from afar (outside easy airthrow counter range) try A, delay A. If the first A is a counter hit (they attempt a punish), the 2nd will combo. If, not, you might open them up with the staggered 2nd A. If blocked, you might be able to land and OS throw of your choice. Fun stuff.

Also, if you’ve conditioned an opponent to ground swing xx arrow, this tactic may catch their counter attempt. Very useful when facing Wesker. w/o assist cover (1v1).

Like any footsies game, this is situational & requires some reading into your opponent (“I see you!”). Utilize with care.

Not sure if this is known or has been discussed, but Task can instant overhead all of the big characters, those being Sentinel, Nemesis, Tron, and Hulk, with j.M, j.H, j.S. Still allows for a full combo of your choice. Only caveat is you have to be point blank for it to connect, and you have to jump forward.

Yea i use this all the time, it also works on medium sized chars such as Mags, Nova, Dr. Doom, Dorm, and more

I can’t get it to hit on Dorm. Is the spacing that specific?

? just go right up to him and do it, it should work.

Tried that, and the j.M whiffed. I might be hitting it too late, since the big characters give you a lot of space to do it. I’ll check it out.

I have a question about OTGing after a throw with Spidey Swing xx Aim Master H. How fast do you have to cancel into Aim Master H? I tried to do it a few times and no arrow comes out.

You have to do it pretty fast and don’t charge the arrows, just do one arrow.

I’m fairly new to taskmaster, what kind of incoming mix-up possibilities does he have if he’s backed by drones? Or in general what kind of incoming mix-ups can he do besides dash under?

Ahh, ok. I don’t charge and the one arrow still doesn’t come out. I’ll just continue to work on the timing.

One of the most basic ones, albeit very useful, is to Dash forward and do the charging star on an incoming character. The charging star is very ambiguous on characters incoming and can hit them on the other side. another thing i noticed and im not sure if its very useful or not but his sword master attack also can cross up and backed with assists can lead to a full combo. Or you can just play like me and call hidden missiles and just shoot arrows for days haha.

Hey guys, when do you use sword master if ever? Is it a move that just doesn’t get used ever? Or does it function sort of like a command grab?

To be honest, pretty rarely as it is a lot of effort for not a lot of reward unless you have specific setups for it but here are the times when it can come in handy

  1. In XF (1,2 or 3) you can link any sword master xx headbutt ( :f::d::df: + :atk: xx :h: [on block] ) into cr. :l: to begin a combo. Another variation is to XF right after headbutt connects and then go into combo. One thing to note is that you can link a headbutt on an opponent who has been slowed by Viewtiful Joe’s Slow Hyper or while Mist (Ammy Super) is active.

  2. The only assist that really lets you combo into from sword master xx headbutt ( :f::d::df: + :atk: xx :h: [on block] ) reliably is Ammy Cold Star. Probably the most used setup is if you have your opponent cornered and grounded.

Call Ammy ~ j.:h: [whiff] --> Sword master :l: xx headbutt ( :f::d::df: + :l: xx :h: [on block] ) --> cr. :l:

What should happen is that by whiffing the j.:h:, they get hit by the cold star (assuming they block it) so they can’t AG you away. After you open them up with headbutt, the cold star should keep them in hit stun and then allow you to combo with cr.l.

  1. On incoming characters in the corner, do Aim master :h: fully charged ( :d::df::f: + :h: [charged] ; these are the vertical arrows ) and then dash in and do sword master :l: + back by a lock down assist. They can’t really AG you unless they AG the vertical arrows, which is actually pretty tricky since the block stun is kind of short. You may only get the canned followup unless you XF or have Ammy but if you have an assist that let’s you pick up the opponent and do a combo (Wesker OTG Gunshot for example), then it can be a way to get some damage on your opponent or put them in a position for a reset.

If you watch the top players with Task (e.g. MoONs for example), you’ll almost never see them you sword master because it is simple to defend against (use advancing guard) so it rarely works against someone who knows what they are doing.

The only team that I have that makes it works (at mediocre at best) is my Trish (Peekaboo) / Task (H.Arrows) / Ammy (CS) team because once you get a hardknock down with Trish, you simply Boomerang Super, Hard Tag Task then call Ammy Assist. Basically the only way out of this is for you opponent to either do an invincible super on wakeup (Almost all of which can be stuff with Aegis Counter [Counter Hyper]) or for them to do a hard tag, which means you can then follow them in the air with Task for a combo (but a hard one to do since Task doesn’t have the easiest air hit confirm).

All in all, you are better off figuring out different ways of opening up your opponents but it never hurts to just throw out a sword master on occasion just to make sure your opponent is respecting it. A lot of players will over respected the sword master backed by a lockdown assist, which can actually open up other possibilities

Anyone else have anything?

Hope that helps!

Thanks times a million! I was scared I was missing out on some sort of integral part of this character because i never used it. This will help a lot!

WOAH!
http://ask-taskmaster.tumblr.com/

so is there a trick to getting sting master H after a air combo? I swear it never comes out have I know down with S…

Anyone here play task with plasma beam assist? The team in question here would be task doom akuma (I’ve basically been playing diff combinations of task doom ammy and akuma. Anyone know the 4 character team game shark code??)

The situation and resulting question is this: with akuma, as we know, I can shield skills+tatsu safely. Not news. Now with various other assists, we can shield skills and then xx arrow, S, or sword sting. Problem, with plasma, is on hit, sting ends the combosince tatsu won’t be ready for pickup, and arrows doesn’t combo from shield skills then into plasma. Or at least not consistently… if it should work like that, anyone know why it never seems to, and have tips on making that work every time?

So I figure S is the way to go, but if I delay it on hit, the beam effs up the combo. So then I have to S off the shield skills immediately, so they get launched up higher than the beam before it ever gets there. BUT, our bnb doesn’t work unless we S as late as possible off the skills, right?

So long story short, with what sequence do you guys back a shield skills attack with plasma? And assuming its with an immediate S, any idea what sort of combo can be expected off shield skills into immediate S? Thanks!

Side note: my bitch ex roommate fucked me by canceling our cable and I can’t start a new acct in my name since hers is still technically at the address. So I’m aware watching some josh wong (any other plasma tasks??) Could help, but sadly watching video of anything isn’t possible for me right now. Yes, I’m playing a violin, but I got fucked so bad, its more like a gold plated cello. :frowning: so I wouldn’t normally request such a spoon feeding without some research first. But in this case, I’m beggin for some gerber pear sauce lol
