Anyone else notice that a partially charged air L arrows don’t bounce you on release? Kind of like Hawkeye’s triple arrow.

I know that after shield skils qcf+s is the safest solo followup but I’m still seeing players using qcf+l arrows when its not the safest option, is there a reason for that? Is it just to mix it up even tho it can be punished?

Most people probably are just bad

From right up close, charged L aim master is a better option since it’s + on block and chips much more. It’s a tight blockstring when you’re right in their face.

After b+H, if you want to do QCF+L (safely), you have to fire exactly two arrows… and I’m not even sure if that’s 100% safe. Against good players, 1 arrow will easily get you punished and 3 arrows doesn’t come out in time. 3 arrows is a reasonable mixup after you have trained the opponent with QCF+S, but definitely should not be relied upon.

If you do a dashing shield skills from up close(ish), a fully charged aim master is a tight blockstring against everyone but the shorties. You can’t jump out of it from the right range.

Ahhhh thanks for the replies, ill try to test this out more, but I’m thinking that qcf+s(I forget the name)will be my go to move after shield skills. I’ve been punished for using qcf+l, but I have seen in close proximity where after the arrows I can go with a low l or m and startup a new string again, and a blocked qcf+s blocked pushes the opponent away which forces me to setup again. I def want to go with the safest option as possible.

Arrows are safest. Sting Master is -3 on block, which means an XF 1 Wolverine will plow through it with a free dash up :l: if he’s in speed mode.

XF1 speedup Wolvie will hit you clean before (or, alternatively, after) the arrows come out.

Honestly, cancelling Shield Skills into anything is X-factor bait. I try not to do it too much when the opponent is down to 2 characters or less because they’re that much more likely to take any opportunity to change the momentum of the fight.

Arrows is much safer if you do it right though, and it sets up frame traps that catch people constantly hitting up back. Be wary of the shorties though as some arrows coast right over them making it much more unsafe.

That feeling you get from killing Someone at full health with the whole
H. Sword master combo into legion arrow, into Xf, into team hyper combo.

I main taskmaster I never used sword master until now, it’s amazing if know how to use it, like have sentinel drones fly in to force them into blocking then hit’em with that sword master into legion arrow.

I know I’m making people salty with my team, Ghostrider/Sentinel/Taskmaster.

After practicing a bit with both I’ll just mix it up, sting master seems to be best used for pokes and arrows for tight blockstrings. Thanks again for the input guys.

Arrows are not safe. 3 Arrows is not a true string and you can get thrown in the charge or get hit by a quick normal, and I’m sure 1 or 2 arrows is - on block if not more minus than Sting Master with less pushback, making it easier to throw punish. Honestly if you are playing Taskmaster on point you always must cover shield skills with an assist if you can. And yeah Sting Master is major XF Guard cancel bait but then again taskmaster can always cancel into counter super, so hes better off than a lot of the cast in that regard.

Please test it in practice mode. It’s very character specific, but it **IS **a tight block string in most cases when up close.

If the shield skills gets chicken blocked, then yes, you can jump out of it. Make sure to do a dashing shields skills as that makes all the difference in the world. Also realize that if they are already blocking, some characters have a much bigger blocking hurtbox so to speak so you will effectively have your shield skills blocked differently in those cases (it’s the same idea behind fuzzy guarding). Test it with different characters to see.

Is there any reason why people don’t use sword master? I never see any other Taskmaster players using it.

I tried it in training mode. You cannot jump out, but you can definetly throw Taskmaster by mashing throw, there is a gap, jumps have 4f startup, but throws have 1f startup, you can mash buttons and get counterhit because the gap is tiny, but if you mash throw it will beat out Taskmaster.

The problem with Sword Master, you need specific assists to set it up, like Cold Star or Corner Jam Session. Because you can push block the first hit of sword master and avoid the unblockable completely and it leaves Taskmaster vulnerable.

Granted, but not all characters will be close enough to throw. That’s where matchup knowledge comes in. You also don’t want to be doing it against the shorties because that’s just asking to be punished.

yeah thats why I use sentinel assist and try to time the hit right.

all in all its really more of a risk/reward humiliation move than anything else, there are many other things you could do and still get the same amount of damage or higher.

but still, I’d love to see someone use it in a tourney or something.

Thing with sting master is outside of tatsu (maybe a couple other assists? I dunno), you can’t combo off a hit. The whole reason I was asking about arrows off shield skills is an attempt to ween myself off of tatsu reliance. I virtually never shield. skills without calling an assist with it, but the issue is there’s a hole between the skills and the assist connecting (unless your assist is tatsu). I feel like without akuma backing my task he’s far less powerful for this reason so I was wondering what sequences I should be using when I shield skills in with, say, cold star, nova b assist, or plasma beam, that keeps me safe on block and hit confirmable on hit.

Tatsu solves the problem perfectly (and even allows combos off shit like swordmaster or sting master), but I don’t really want akuma to have to be a prerequisite to running taskmaster. I adore the duo, but feel like I’m shortchanging doom on task doom akuma. Likewise im working on moons’ team of nova task ammy, but feel tempted to sub in akuma.

If you’re calling a slower assist, you can cancel shield skills into a single arrow shot and the assist will complete the block string, allowing you to get in after.
