Push block. :m:. :qcb::l:. All are options.

Noob learning Taskmaster. What are like his safe blockstrings and mix-ups? I’m getting the combo down, but when I play arcade CPU, I keep getting countered because I’m attacking with unsafe moves.

Also for the combo

LMH6H, jMM, j6H, jMMS, land 4HS, SJC, jMMH6H, jMMS combo, I sometimes miss the 4H “charging star” after I land after doing double web swings. Is there a specific timing or an easier alternative?

You basically need a good assist to make his rushdown safe. Or use a good mix of zoning and footsies, most of his normals at max range are relatively safe.

As for the charging star, the timing is character/spacing dependant, so you have to train it. Sometimes you can use H instead of S before the charging star to make it easier to land. Sometimes you have to delay the S. Sometimes you have to delay the j.MM. In any case, you can call an assist during the charging star if you think it will miss, to cover your recovery.

I like Haggar’s Lariat. It deals so well with most teleports, allowing you to zone all day for free.

Hsienko’s Pendulum assist is also very good, mostly if you can activate her gold armor.

Storm’s whirlwind covers the ground for a long time, and has great DHC potential.

There are tons of options. It depends on what kind of zoning you want.

So do you guys who play Task as point or whatever. Do you prefer lockdown? ie high priority assist like tronne, haggar, gold armor hsien, akuma…or prefer lockdown with projectile assist? Ie Sent…or unblockable low high assist? Wesker, She-Hulk etc. Or any of the above is fine.

At the risk of getting flamed to crisp for asking, what can I do against Tasky’s swing pressure in general? Advancing guard isn’t that useful with the swing’s forward momentum, and that it ends in air neutral state where his air M can stuff a lot of options. It’s not a pretty sight when it’s paired with a decent pressure assist, not to mention it’s no good if a char can’t out-zone tasky even if I push/jump away after the second swing + normals.

With good assists it’s understandable that it’s hard to counter and I probably need to just respect the pressure and push out or something between assist cooldowns, but what about naked swing pressure, where he does something like swing air MM swing MMS ground chain then swing repeat. Is there a gap between the swing and air M to put in a L, if so, how fast does that attack need to be?

As far as I know, you are at a frame advantage when you block most web swings, so you can just mash L and combo from there, and the timing is easy enough that you can get it even online.

Just be careful about the spacing of the web swing. If he does a web swing without assist cover in a block string, he’s free. If he pokes with a max range web swing, he might be at an advantage. In any case, if you have a high priority assist (Lariat, tron flamethrower, akuma tatsu, etc.), just call that and try to punish.

Taskmaster with good assists seems to be a very annoying character to play against, but once he’s out, the rest of the team might fall apart. I know that my team does; I rely entirely on gimmicks without Taskmaster :stuck_out_tongue:

So what sort of strategies do you guys use? That seems to be my problem. I have no sort of plan of action, I just go to work with Taskamaster and hope I win. I do a lot of jumping around shooting but trying to get better at getting on people. I realize Taskmaster is good at putting pressure on people, with an assist. I’m using Dormmamu now and trying to find a 3rd still. I think Ammy’s Cold Star would work great for keeping people locked down. Just wondering what kind of tactics you guys use.

i meant out of the assists tasky has

Cold Star is in fact godly. Cold star shenanigans are the best shenanigans. If you can get your opponent blocking in the corner, calling it forces them to X-Factor + reversal or spend a meter to guard cancel (and both of those can be countered on reaction), otherwise you can force an unblockable they can’t advancing guard out of, pick it up with your other assist, and get in at least 700k.

Vertical Arrows is excellent for zoning, covers a wide area and for the most part keeps the opponent out of the air while they’re in its range, keeping them from leaping over most more linear zoning attempts.

Yeah, I think that would be a great assist. I just want to get good with Ammy and incorporate her weapon changes. Dormmau doesn’t really have a great assist. Though if I do add Ammy, I think I might need to make her second and make Dormmau my anchor. I actually think her Okami Shuffle could set up for Dormmamu’s level 3 super since it leaves them grounded. That’s of course if that situation ever arises and I have the meter.

I’m also still learning things with Taskmaster. I play pretty basic but the more I play with him I’m seeing how to open things up. One thing I noticed while playing, is if you’re attacking someone and their guarding, you can do mighty swing over their head and shoot them with downward arrow and sometimes you’ll hit them. I found that to be useful. People think your done with attacking and start to go on the offensive so if you end with arrows they usually get hit. I think that’s where Ammy’s assist will come in handy though. If I call her before I go in I can lock them down and go for the unguardable attack.

Question: Why is every Taskmaster on a stream total ass?.. His combos are not that hard, and all I ever see people do is slight variations on magic series. That level up stream yesterday honestly made me cringe.

^Basically; same goes for all the Doom players. They still can’t combo with him for shit either. Any time Doom touches you in the corner, your character should be dead.

taskys ‘basic’ combos do big damage, build meter and are relatively easy to pull off. it’s not really worth it to try and get fancy. i think the things that are going to make task players good are proper spacing and the ability to open people up [either with assists or by himself], damage output is not really a problem with him.

I was on that stream and I promise you I wasn’t using magic series

Wassup David, how is your taskmaster coming a long and dante? Did you decided on your final team yet? I really wanted to go to the San Jose Bar & Grill but it was too late =[. Anyway here is a recent video of me in 4/1/2011 tournament of some taskmaster. Enjoy!

I didn’t catch every match, but I did not see any good Taskmaster play in top 8. I’m not trying to be a dick or anything, but people were not maximizing damage at all and were just doing stupid things like point blank Shield Skills with no assist to cover.

Everything’s going great MINE, my taskmaster and Dante are looking great. Felicia is my last, I’m going to have a sub-assist with a strong reversal (tron or haggar) to make things more consistent, cause I lost a match for not having any stability on defense (Despite blocking very well:sweat:)

Zakky, yeah, I was on the stream in the early part of the norcal stream and the very last match. Everything went really well, but I threw the wrong super at one point (total scrub out) to lose a match, and for that I didn’t make top3.

Go with tron for a 3rd if its between haggar and her , but I would put her 2nd though not anchor. Dante is the best anchor on your team.
Task/tron/dante in that order. =]

I have to put her 3rd or Taskmaster isn’t true touch of death; also, after the kill, dante gets his acid rain rushdown for free, and I get to keep tron behind him. She wouldn’t ever stay anchor though, I would either win fast or use her cross counter to get Dante in back. So I’m in complete agreement, essentially

You mean either win fast or get zone out to death after taskmaster die? LOL =] , but yea dante is the best anchor in that certain team. Trone is lame anyway haha. I’m going to make a taskmaster shirt soon don’t forget to grab one alright David. =]
