How about turtle back at them and start chipping with arrows? Do you think this is a do-able strategy with him?

yea, i use that combination. i used it at FR

id ignore my doom gameplay for the most part…i (clearly) didnt handle things right but things have changed since then

IMO, Taskmaster really benefits from a lockdown assist to get his unblockable off.

How can you say you´ve reached his max level? Come on. Getting down all his Bnbs or just because you played him since the beginning doesn´t mean his maximum potential is fully tapped. Even Combofiend being champion can´t do great with him. His victories are She Hulk and Spencer most of the time. He only benefits from taskmaster for his assist mostly. Taskmaster has great potential because of his damage and versatility. He just can´t break in people´s defenses very well like other characters. That´s why he needs proper assists to set up his shenanigans. He has amazing combos and loops that people don´t try to risk doing in competitive play.
I don´t try to keep tasky as my last character but when it happens if he´s alone i just zone with him and bait rush and punish. Taskmaster is one of the best characters at punishing moves with his mighty swing. Mighty swing beats many low attacks too so that´s a plus.
About Phoenix. I jump a lot against her if she starts throwing projectiles like crazy. If she´s far away from me i just crouch, wait for the teleport (almost 90% of phoenix players go for that) and do a cr. M or st.M to bread and butter. People make the mistake to try and block her mixup. That is really hard to do. We have no demon speed reaction to try and do that everytime. I go for the attack even if i don´t know where she´ll teleport the character will and i hit confirm that to st.H and kill her. That´s what i do most of the time i´m not gonna lie i get killed by her sometimes but this has worked very well for me.

Listen, you’re trying to make Tasky into magneto when he’s not. Let me help you out with the following ideas:

First, let’s look at swordmaster. If the first hit is blocked you can follow up with an unblockable attack. You don’t think that’s abuseable? Listen, you can x-factor cancel after the headbutt and do a very basic combo that usually leads to 100%. Also, something people forget is that xfactor mode shortens recovery time, so even though you usually can’t follow up the headbutt with Tasky’s standard launch combo, in x-factor mode he can actually combo in c. L after the headbutt without any assists (note: this applies even in level 1 xfactor). This means anytime Taskmaster connects with a swordmaster headbutt you can follow up with his standard launch combo powered up by x-factor, which leads to 100% on pretty much everyone. Another thing is that swordmaster with assists can be downright deadly. In certain parts of the screen swordmaster headbutt + drones give you just enough time to follow up with his launcher combo into death.

Next, let’s look at his throws. Taskmaster has one of the scariest air throws in the game because he can actually launch off of it against some characters. It’s a little height specific but you can actually do a vertical aim master (3 shots), land, s. L, s. M, s. H, Shield Skills xxx Launcher into air combo from it. Also, you can always immediately do the vertical aim master super after it. Next, let’s look at his ground throw. The forward one allows you to connect with a tiger knee’d vertical aim master super.

Finally, let’s look at his game with assists. Besides being able to use delayed assists like Sent Drones and Doom Missiles to followup his swordmaster headbutt with a combo, he also has a pretty good assist cross-up game. Simply call a projectile assist, dash forward and jump, and try to mighty swing over the opponent’s head. If the opponent jumps and tries to attack you he might get hit by a mighty swing or an air throw. If the opponent stays on the ground you might cross him up, either with the projectile or with j. S when you land. Either way you can open them up with combos this way. That’s all I really have for now. Hope it helps

Edit: On the phoenix front, just know that if they try to jump and spam homing projectiles you can sometimes nail them with an angled aim master super. In fact, if you have two meters and a stored x-factor you can do the angled air master super and x-factor cancel into the horizontal air master super, which should be enough to kill Phoenix in most instances. About the only other thing i’d give as advice is to expect teleports after projectiles and to try to either block low or jump up-back when you expect them.

Thanks guys…

I just need to clarify that im no pro, but Taskmaster is my best character by far, and i know what and how to abuse it, the problem is he is somewhat (and sometimes) linear in his ofensive, his unblockable is too slow, i have played against other Taskys and when i see that huge sword swing coming, i know what is going to happen, so i push block, and thats it for the unblockable…

btw if you wanna beat stuff, use Shield Skills, its waaaay better, faster and it deals chip damage (it also eat projectiles) i use it to cover my assist (but its also a little bit insecure, but if you have good reactions skills, you can punish a lot of stuff with this move).

I dont trust the spidey swing, i need to do a lot of tests because i feel its very insecure when its blocked.

But im really frustrated against this 3 guys, Zero, Spiderman and Phoenix are the 3 big bad guys for me… this tips help a lot, so thanks for the answers.

Anybody uses a Zero in his team??? im down for some player matches…

Is there any reason to pick parabolic and vertical assist for task for any situational needs?

Does anyone pick these assist?

I personally love using vertical assist with Arthur (or any zoning character I guess). It denies the hell out out of super jumps, and once the arrows are shot you can focus on grounded projectiles and chipping 'cause any jumps will be denied.

vertical shot may be a good idea for Chris. You want them on the ground so that Chris can go to work. This might be good for Haggar also.

Vertical arrow assist is very good. Whether you should go with Vertical or Horizontal is dependent on your team and whether you focus more on zoning or rushdown. However, Parabolic is (almost?) never the correct choice.

I use horizontal shot assist for when Doctor doom is on point. It helps cover the blind spot underneath Doom when he foot dives and makes foot dive a better pressure tool.

Good stuff my dude! I actually saw you do grab - drones - MH Arrows during the teams event and I instantly stole dem shits. It won me at least one match that day due to the extra damage and God knows how many since then. Good shit on your finish!

It was interesting watching the matches that you posted because you use Doom in much the same way that I use Chun: cover sub-par Web Swings and to extend combos in the corner. I’d like to talk some Taskie sometime with you so holla at me via PM.

Im glad to see that it helped you out . With the Sent health nerf, im sorta on the fence as to whether im gonna keep him on the team (team “STD” [Sent, Tasky, Doom] needs it’s S member) simply because the role Sent was there to fulfill has lost its luster but im still trying for the simple fact that the Air throw into super + drones + launch followup into another super is too nice to just do away with it.

Im free to talk via PM whenever. there may be a day or 2 in the week where i dont log on this site to do anything but im usually pretty easy to get ahold of within the day if there’s something you wanna ask or talk about

Edit: About the assist discussion, if i know that the opponent’s character is gonna try to be in the air more than i am, ill pick vertical assist to pin them down…it definitely helps a bit with Sent’s approach (if you see that they are on the ground, or close to it when the arrows come down and your already in fly mode with Sent hovering towards them, u have just enough time to choose whether you want to cross them up with an air attack or not) so that they dont try to meet you in the air but what ive also seen is that it’ll mess up your combos if you manage to score a hit if they tried to jump away…a simple fix will get rid of that problem but you have to see it coming in advance and adjust.

What’s so bad about Parabolic Arrow assist?

Ehh. I think it’s mostly the range and area it covers. While the others H. and V. arrows cover basically everything forward and everything above this covers diagonly which would be good except it has such a short range and low curve that’s it not really worth it.

Off of a random mighty swing that hits far, what is the best meterless followup for it?

Dunno if this has been discussed but I like to use the Brady Games Guide BnB with Tasky which I assume most people do… but sometimes what I will do after the cr l, cr m, cr h, ->H, m, m, ->h, m, m… I will go for a little mix up where I will either dash under them for a cross up and if they start to catch on to that I will start not fully going through and end up on the same side as if they were expecting the cross up then go for the BnB again. This is of course something done more mid screen.

Usually with a BnB this powerful I would just go for the whole thing an ignore this mix up… but when characters have a full health bar or close to one I like to go for this that way it usually can gurantee me a character death unless it is one of the heavy dudes. I don’t want to just go for the BnB and then give them a chance to DHC out or raw tag and let the red health regenerate. It is nice to do this 1 little mix up for a total around 1 million damage… although it is risky I have been landing it quite successfully.

Again don’t go for this unless they have a lot of health and you are just trying to kill the off completely. You could also go for an air throw but that wouldn’t make much sense as you should just go for the full combo to begin with because it builds more meter and does a little more damage. Still, it is an option.

im actually experimenting with vertical and horizontal so far i think i like the veritcal better for lock down type play…i will you zero with clones and throw hadenki’s with spammin veritcal arrows its actually pretty effective and chips good

dive kicks…how do you deal with them?

So what assist is best for zoning/keep away?
