Copy THIS! The Taskmaster thread!

You guys have any Counter Super setups? Obviously if someone uses Maximum Wesker that’s an easy counter, but I thought of using it after a Snapback, or waiting for an Assist without a projectile (like Haggar, Akuma’s Tatsu, etc).

To anyone having trouble with Tasky BnB, here’s a way to consistently land it with 99% accuracy. There are two things you need to do:

  1. After the first web swing, you need to stagger your j.M’s. Imputing the j.M’s with a pause between them will let Taskmaster drop slightly. After the second web swing, do everything at normal speed.

  2. During the re-launch part of the combo, leave out the H. The combo normally goes (M, H, b+H, S), but doing it (M, b+H, S) is more consistent because it doesn’t matter how high they are when the M hits.

I know you guys might be thinking, “But you can do more damage if you leave in the H,” which is true, but unless you can land the combo 99% of the time, then you’re actually losing damage (and lots of it). The pros play what they know they can land, and you probably should too. For example, on the WNF stream Fl0e was wrecking house with Sentinel, but after a launch he rarely did a fly combo. Instead, he opted for the weaker (and much easier) j.m, j.h, j.s air combo.

great words of advice

I was messing around trying to get this started, but I couldn’t manage it. Are there any requirements characterwise, and is it corner only?

What part of the combo are you having trouble with? The op didn’t note it but the arrows are charged…

Super after normal throws.

I found this out tonight, is this already known?

Tasky can super after his forward throw and his backward throw if he throws the opponent into the corner and is less than 2/3rds a screen away.

After throw- input down, down-forward, forward, upforward, then medium + hard if it’s the forward throw. Tasky should hop straight up and shoot straight down.

For the backthrow it’s the same thing, but input light+ medium, so tasky will hop up and shoot his arrows at an angle.

Im pretty sure it was known, or at least I do believe I heard it from someone on here. for the backthrow I believe you have the inputs wrong though. Light+medium goes straight. you also get the M+H aim master from an airthrow.

My problem with Task at the moment is that getting his BnB 100% of the time is awful and more like 50% when your pressuring with Spidey Swing because depending on when and how high your opponent gets hit by the SS it changes the timing of the combo. For example off a blank close or far SS, after an assist or even the chain you use before swinging alters all the requirements especially if you want to do b,b and another SS or cancel the first hit of the C into Special before using back C into Launcher. Has anyone found the definitive BnB in the air that works in almost all situations?

I was having the same prob but best advice was what spooty said about delaying the first set of j.m’s it really lets you determine the height and how many hits you need to add to the next part of the combo so you can relaunch

Spooty whats your BnB?

taskys BNB is kinda random sometimes when it comes to smaller/ weird hitbox characters. like for example on Captain America and Spiderman, if you start BnB then when you try to launch after web swing drop. you’ll land on their other side and forced to swing them back mid screen and losing positioning and potentially more damage. this character is def my favorite though.

It depends on the situation.

I only do the “BnB” when I land a hit on a grounded opponent. If you hit an airborne opponent (with anything other than j.M, j.M), the height variable makes it risky to do the combo. I do not recommend trying to land the “BnB” unless you sweep the opponent before the Web Swing. It is possible, but slightly harder.

cr.L, cr.M, cr.H, f+H, j.M, j.M, f+H, j.M, j.M, j.S, land, M, b+H, S, sj.M, sj.M, f+H, sj.M, sj.M, S, land, j.qcf+H xx j.qcf+MH

BUT, if I’m playing online, I leave out the M before the relaunch; b+H comes out faster than M, which means it is easier to land.

cr.L, cr.M, cr.H, f+H, j.M, j.M, f+H, j.M, j.M, j.S, land, b+H, S, sj.M, sj.M, f+H, sj.M, sj.M, S, land, j.qcf+H xx j.qcf+MH

If I hit an airborne opponent (say with a Web Swing), then I do:

f+H, j.M, j.H, f+H, j.M, j.M, j.H, j.qcf+LM

This combo still does 560,000 damage, and you can DHC into something else for more damage.

Hey guys, competitive fighting game player playing Taskmaster, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and maybe get some discussion started.

First off, I think Taskmaster with Chun Li lightning legs assist might be one of the dirtiest combos in the game. Against a lot of the cast, there are a lot of nearly free ways to set up the unblockable on knockdown and on next-person-swap in. Makes him more than capable of rushing that shit down, along with the threat of his forward throw > super. But then he’s also one of the best zoners, with arrows for all directions and a counter super for if you mess up! Holy shit :china:

What kinds of assists do you guys use? I wanted to supplement the weaker part of his game (Rushdown), to make it high threat, especially since it fit my style. I left his zoning alone for the most part, but Dante’s Crystal assist does help him against certain zoners and to deny approachers.

Also, do you guys think whiff cancel counter super is as dirty as I do? LOL. One of the only characters who pretty much can’t be “zoner super’d”, IE caught out of a special move by a super. He has the counter super for any projectile invulnerable melee supers, and his arrow super is one of the highest priority projectile supers. Such a strong character. o-o

Akuma’s Tatsu or Doom’s Rocks I find are just as good as Chun’s legs and still can cause the unblockable setups. Throw in a low assist for more unblockables.

I use Hsien-Ko’s Dark force pendulum, since its broken. Makes my blockstrings super safe and forces my opponent to stop attacking me unless they want to get hit. Depending on the MU though, ill decide whether or not to start with Hsien or Taskmaster. Characters like Sent make getting the Dark force out right away tough, so I rather just fight with Task until I can DHC into it. Other character I have is Morrigan with her dark harmonizer. Free meter is always good and I have some good DHC combos with this team, though I can see myself switching her out down the road if she ends up bad.

The same ghostpilot I’m thinking of?

More on topic, I’m trying to find a good way to transition from bnb to an otg j.:qcf::l::h: in the corner so I can dhc in a fast super and get extra damage. j.:qcf::m::h: doesn’t pop the opponent up, so it’s not suitable for that, and you can do j.:qcf::l::h: just before you land if you drop one of the last j.:m:s and end in :s: sj.:m: j.:m: j.:h: j.:f::h: j.:m: j.:s:, but it’s a one-frame timing that changes depending on the height you caught your opponent so screw that. What I’ve been doing is, from neutral or off of an unblock, :d::l: :d::m: :d::h: :f::h: j.:m: j.:m: j.:f::h: j.:m: j.:m: j.:s: :m: :h: :b::h: :s: :ub:sj.:m: j.:m: j.:h: j.:s:, j.:qcf::l::h: on the way down, DHC Bionic Lancer, finish the combo with Spencer. But it’s only a bit over 100k more damage than just ending it with the standard land j.:qcf::h: j.:qcf::m::h: ender. As it stands, it gets me immediate pressure and is enough more damage that I feel it’s worthwhile, but I’m wondering if it couldn’t be more. I could just x-factor and kill them, yeah, but unless it’s their last guy I’d rather save that for potential use elsewhere.

I really like Taskmaster hes my main and I get a lot of msg from people saying that I have a great Taskmaster on PSN…

Normals have awesome range and thanks to its Spidey Swing and Chargin Stars its easy to overcome annoying assists and get close to the opponent and just when the other character jumps in use the M Aim Master to keep the pressure…

Right now my main team is Taskmaster, Wesker and Dante but sometimes I dont even use Wesker and Dante cuz with Taskmaster alone I can take a whole team down hes so awesome!!..

About the colors I only like the original and Udon…the orange color was a very odd choice and his 2nd color looks almost like the 1st one I was hoping for a Moon Knight alt (All White with blue eyes), Black Knight alt (All Black) or even an Hobgoblin alt (Green face, red eyes, orange suit) I hope they give him the Udon alt costume as DLC

So, I was messing around, and I think I have found a super consistent way to hit the BnB. This way you don’t have to stagger button presses for the right height.

cr.L, cr.M, cr.H, f+H, j.M, j.H (2 hits), f+H, j.M, j.M, j.H (1-2 hits), land, b+H, S, sj.M, sj.M, f+H, sj.M, sj.M, S, land, j.qcf+H xx j.qcf+MH

The important part is bolded. j.H tends to make Taskmaster fall faster than his other attacks, this means that you will almost be very close to the ground after your second j.H. The only thing that you need to do to make this combo work is to “j.M, j.H” at the end of the first swing instead of as soon as you can attack during the swing. Also, it doesn’t matter if your second j.H hits 1 or 2 times before you land…either way works.

This combo does not work against Captain America in the corner. I don’t know why, but Captain America juggles higher than other characters.

On A Side Note:
Akuma with Tatsu assist is good for Taskmaster. Tatsu comes out quick and covers a ton of ground. You can use this for unblockable set-ups. You can also use this to juggle off of an OTG and extend Taskmaster’s corner combos a little. For example:

cr.L, cr.M, cr.H, f+H, j.M, j.H (2 hits), f+H, j.M, j.M, j.H (1-2 hits), land, b+H, S, sj.M, sj.M, f+H, sj.M, sj.M, S, land, Partner 1/2, j.qcf+H, land, b+H, qcf+L (3 arrows) xx qcf+LM

Then you can DHC after that into Akuma’s beam super or whatever.

Is that part of the bnb really that hard for people? I feel like hardest part is making sure the :s: hits them at the right height to do the full ender. The start itself through to the :m: :h: :b::h: is not really something you should be dropping, you just have to learn the timing. That sort of thing, replacing largew chunks of it, is just going to nerf your damage + metergain more than it needs to be nerfed.

Been using Taskmaster/Storm/Sentinel with Tasky on point. Storm and Sentinel get him in like nobody’s business with whirlwind and sentinel force. I’ve put parabolic shot for his assist so when the others are out they have to stay on the ground where storm and sentinel can do business and storm can keep them out like it’s nobody’s business.
