  2. You’re taking my quote out of context, I’m saying we need less like/dislike posts that don’t add much to the topic, and more theoryfighting. Sure, I make random assumptions about things like the usefullness of specials or assists, or inventing random strings- but hell, even if I’m assuming things, at least I’m talking about the game and gameplay. There’s a chance my theoryfighting will prove useful, and it helps to provoke thought- nobody is going to find posts like “I think he’s amazing and I can’t wait to play him, I been a fan 4-evaaar!” as helpful.

It’s not meant as a straw man, merely suggesting that any assumption at this point is a stretch until we see more. I do have to agree that he looks like he’ll have mobility issues.

That’s why it’s theory-fighting. We take what we know of the game so far, and then applying the abilities of characters, we engage in theoreticals, you postulate your point, which you come to, not by random guessing, but assumptions based in what we know. You compare characters, options, likely actions and possible reactions- basically, you weigh their potential against one another.

And you avoided the meat of my post, and selectively took only a tiny chunk of what I said. Again. :slight_smile:

I’m still curious as to what you guys think the best possible assists for Taskmaster are, and why. Other then Doom rocks, we already know why that’ll work well with TM.

Taskmaster looks like a lot of fun to use. Counter super looks great, especially since it can stop other people’s supers. Reflecting projectiles in a game that has loads of them should be fun. :lol:

and it’s one of the best in the game imo

For the counter fighting style I was mentioning above, I’d go with a projectile (fireball, not beam) assist and an AAA. This way you can use your assist to put additional pressure on a keepaway opponent or keep rushdown characters off-balance so they’ll really want to attack as soon as they get in. Because I’m expecting his assists to include his counter and his Aim of Hawkeye (pure speculation, of course), it would probably be best to put him with 2 keepaway with his counter or 2 rushdown with his Aim of Hawkeye. So, maybe Chun Li/Zero/Captain America (any can do either assist) or Arthur/Trish/Ryu (Dagger Toss/Hadoken and Peek-A-Boo/Shoryuken).

Still like the idea of using Spencer grapple assist with him. Pull 'em in close, work on making them panic, and reap the rewards of skillful counters + mix-ups.

Whenever playing counter characters, presenting the feel of “I control this match, now!” is a nice bonus. I could see some form of trap-like assist working with this too, in retrospect. I don’t PERSONALLY wanna play Trish, but I could see her traps limiting the opponents options, forcing them to attack in easier-to-read ways.

Would be nice if Lei-Lei has upwards weapon toss as an assit too. Arrow hyper seems great to capatalize on random hits at any time, with it’s speed and OTG properties.

I was thinking about what assist could help Tasky, but it depends on what he can do. If he doesn’t have an OTG outside of Hyper, he could benefit from OTG assist like Dante’s Crystal and Deadpool’s whatever one does that.

Edit: Looks like some of those low assist OTG.

I wonder… If someone like Wesker and ports after Tasky holds up his shield to counter, and hits Tasky in the back, will he still counter? Or does Wesker knock him down?

I’ve listened to all of the character themes when they were up, and this is definitely one of the best in the game.

Damn, Taskmaster’s theme is awesome. Hyper patriot pirate rock anthem.

It’s funny that you say patriot, because the entire time I’m listening to that, I keep seeing Captain America in my mind. That theme is much too heroic for a mercenary trainer who wishes he was a Master of the Universe.

Well, he was training US Government agents for a while. Merc or not, I think he’s still patriotic. And yeah, sad thing is it sounds much more patriotic then Cap’s, which is kinda wrong… and kinda funny.

yeah that theme does not fit taskmaster at all.

i like the gameplay vid of him vs akuma. if he gets so many combos off that web swing and spidey doesnt i will LOL. i still think hell end up more useful than both of them

This is all you had to say. He look’s like the most well rounded, versatile character yet. But yeah, he won’t excel at anything. For the most part, that’s fine by me.

And yeah, his theme druel’s a Captain America/Charlie/Guile type, patriotism to it doesn’t it? Did I just type out team America? Yes I did…
