True story, I wanted marrow for mvc2 because she was getting alot of spot light in the x books around the time the game was announce. After 3 weeks she got dropped.:looney:
I’m also a big taskmaster and HUGE phoenix fan. However this time it looks like these characters have the potential to be at least competitive
I’ve always been a Phoenix fan ever since her original inception, and I also like the Rachael Summers version too, especially the dominatrix/hunter version. As I previously stated, I’ve always thought Taskmaster had a really cool design, even if nothing about him was original. I simply liked the way the Hobgoblin looked, and Taskmaster was basically him but with a different color scheme and a lot more medieval weaponry.
His design is rather unique compared to most characters that end up in a vs game too and I always thought it would be neat to see him in a game if only for his design alone. Like him as a personality or not, you have to admit he stands out among the crowd so far in this game and does have a lot of style. The only other characters that I’ve always wanted to see in a fighting game were Mr. Sinister, Ghost Rider, Phoenix and Archangel (who would most likely be based off a Jedah template).
As for the supposed bandwagon, I have no idea. Just like I have no idea why X-23 is supposedly “really popular” when she’s about the blandest “clone” character Marvel has had in a while (not talking about her implementation in this game). I guess everyone who thinks she’s amazing must think Evolution is the best show ever and is a reliable canon.
X-23 is popular due to the fact Kyle and Yost wrote her for that period in X-Force. Liu makes her an unique and interesting character. She is popular as her solo shows. Like Cassie Cain in DC has a huge following but DC didn’t realize and not writing her in most stories. Cassie Cain is a female Bruce pretty much.
I just read the X-23 #1-7, NYX Wannabees, and the Uncanny X-Men 450-451 that featured X-23, I can understand why she is what she is.
I think she comes across as bland because a lot of people don’t realize or forget where she comes from; a place where she is born from day one to be a weapon. She was not allowed to be shown any affection, any kindness. The only thing she was allowed to recieve was instant death (They tried) or missions to kill people. She was trained to be a stone cold killer. That kind of mental development is’nt gonna make you acharming or attractive kid.
She’s different from Logan who was’nt born a weapon at first and at one point was shown some kind of love and kindness, all before and after the Weapon X project. He’s had enough time to develop a personality and humerous character you can relate to easily and his one liners and temper flared fits was also amusing. X-23 can’t duplicate that on her own, it would’nt look right.
Comic companies are weird like this. Funny actually, Marvel didn’t seem to even realise Deadpool was popular until the everyone starting complaining about his depitction in the film.
I like both X-23 and Ninja-Batgirl (Spoiler gets on my nerves, but I’m still reading the series)
She had that wow factor in Nyx, the cartoon ver was cool also and i think it was her 1st mini that was awesome too, but yeah her x force run made her own as a character in my eyes
How? X-23 #5 drops today, I’ve been following the series. It’s alright, I have a feeling that like Daken’s new comic it’ll take a bit of time to pick up. Edit: unless you mean a mini-series or personal story arc within a comic, if so which specific one.
Also stop feeding the troll people, or saying you’ve been a fan of X character for Y amount of time, it’s irrelevant for the most part.
I’m not seeing anything special about him and the way he plays. I like his design, and I like the fact that’s he’s a villain, but I would have taken The Punisher over him any day.
Really? I’m no expert on him, but the Punisher seems a bit too…grim for a game like MvC3. I just don’t feel like he would fit this all that well.
Too many gun using characters already imho.

Grim? What are you 10? It’s not like he’s going to perform a fatality. Jesus christ man. Plus Dante and Deadpool shoot guns, so argument is invalid. Plus, keep in mind that Capcom made an excellent Punisher beat 'em up back in the early 90’s. Game was bad ass.
imo. Punisher and Chris would play the same both with a lot of guns and just shoot.

Not really. I’m thinking they could base the Punisher’s moveset off of the Capcom beat ‘em up. He had a lot of punches and kicks in that. Plus he had two desperation attacks: One where he grabs a dude and swings him around and clears out all the enemies, and another one in the air where he drops down grenades (kinda’ like Rolento). If you have MAME or FBA, play that Punisher game and you can see he has a lot of moves other than just shooting.
Punisher did a crossover with Archie comics once, you know.
…Grim. Not gory. There’s a pretty big difference there. And I mean his personality, not the fact that he uses guns - you couldn’t call either of those two grim.

I just played through the Punisher game again, and he’s very agile, a lot of wall kicks, legs sweeps. He uses Baseball bats, knifes, pieces of cement, makeshift flamethrowers, axes, and a variety of guns. Plus he has Guile’s Flashkick. I can imagine him playing like a hybrid of Rolento, Guile, and maybe Haggard in MVC3.
I think it’s justifiable in this case, how many people who aren’t into comics know of Taskmaster? Is there anything about his playstyle that’s really different and sets him apart from everyone else?
You’re right, better get rid of Ammy, Tron, Dormmamu, MODOK too because they’re obscure! Oh the humanity!

Wow, troll me for having an opinion. He plays like a bit of a hybrid character but I made a valid point, after going on Wiki to research Taskmaster he takes some of his moves from the Punisher, so big question still is why isn’t the Punisher in the game? You can come out of your cave and troll me all you want, doesn’t change anything. Not taking your troll bait anymore.
