Copycat powers are old as all hell, pretty much. I’m sure you have stories of fighters back in ancient Japanese, Chinese, or Western European mythos who were so skilled they could master a weapon or technique instantly after seeing it.
i have to agree with this
copycat powers are really old and generic to be honest
not that taskmaster doesn’t look like a interesting character
it’s just fighting games have had a lot of copy characters that have several moves borrowed from other characters
not to mention in comic books
it can be seen as a rather bland idea to give someone the copycat ability instead of giving them a unique ability
It’s the first thing I’m going to strive to do, being as I want him on my day one team. Then into practice mode with him, X-23 and Iron Man. After that maybe get my buddy round and play some matches.
Just because copycat powers aren’t original doesn’t disqualify them from being interesting. A character’s got a lot more than just their signature technique (I personally dislike Seth because I think he’s got no personality and looks odd, a copycat like Taskmaster sidesteps both of those), and taking things from 5+ characters and making them into something cohesive is a fine concept as long as there’s only 1, maybe 2 characters doing it in a game.
Copycat moves are interesting if the copycat knows how to put a unique twist on the original source material rather than simply immitating them outright. Taskmaster doesn’t always do this, but at least he doesn’t plaigarise (he even names his attacks after the owner. How considerate)
Having photographic muscle memory sounds cool to me.
Yea I was gonna say this; the difference between how he copies moves is what makes Task interesting to me.
Photographic muscle memory sounds alot more interesting than “hey let me touch you real quick…OPTIC BLAST!!!”
No diss to Rogue tho; that’s my bitch
Task also can’t copy magic/mutant/supernatural stuff. So he’s gotta work it in with what he can do, rather than Rogue who just gets everything.
Definitely me, I’ve decided on two characters so far and one is DLC and the other one has to be unlocked. So I have to find a team to use to unlock Tasky.
I’m still trying to figure out who’s more pointless and unwanted, this random or Marrow in MVC2.
Or your post
Methinks the man with the Rogue avatar is a bit salty.
I can’t wait for more of those posts when the game comes out.
Taskmaster replaced Rogue and your tears make bathwater for MODOK.
Normally I deem MODOK quips tiresome and uninspired. This however, fair play sir, fair play indeed!
You’re in for a world of hurt.
Rogue actually had a lot going for her than copying and pasting arbitrary specials. He’s a really poor character choice, and his game play does him no favors. Crap like MODOK at least looks fun to play. But go on pretend to be a fan of him, bandwagons are fun.
That’s right, need more salt on these fries.
Only bandwagon I’m seeing around here is the ‘oh hey, [INSERT CHARACTER] I loved isn’t in this game, gotta be angry and try and troll fans of [INSERT (new/other) CHARACTER] because I just can’t take it’ bandwagon. Which has since driven off a cliff because the people on it were too busy shouting at things to look where it was taking them.
after watching his gameplay vid yesterday, I think he’ll be interesting to play!
