I watch plenty of Sugiyama vids. I was just oping for any tips on combos/mixup advice. Some of the things Sugiyama does is just too godly (throw against the wall into 4 hit combo).
I dread Hugo. Absolutely WILL NOT play against him now. I’ll just switch to Ken for him, I guess. That 360 grab KILLS necro.:arazz:
Heh… I played nonstop for a day and a half (alright, maybe not nonstop. I eat a lot and prefer to keep good hygiene) and got my Necro down pat. No more scrub tactics. Keep spacing in mind at all times and count out the timing for combos (DAMN Sugiyama has godly timing). And Uriens just shouldn’t play. Still, Makoto and Hugo kill him. Nothing beats that one, to my knowledge. Damnit. Parry
strider is my best character, i hateusing doom. i use sent ground, BH-AA, with strider. my ryu is pretty scrubbyin 3s. shinsho ftw lol. and my ibuki gets ass raped like she looks like she would be getting in an hentai. maybe ill retire and just play sam sho 5 yoshitora ;/
Nope. Necro>Ken all day. I can dig it. Ken’s really easy to take down after ONE parry with Necro. The juggles and stun combos are just too easy against him.
If you have GODLY timing and karas, they’re the best. Sugiyama’s eight-hit juggle in the corner with Urien? Karas. You can even get three-four off Ken. How? I don’t know. I’ll have to ask Mopreme or some other obsessive 3s fanatic about how to do those things. His +HP>:db:+HP is good enough. :l:+mk or mp>med spinning punch>super>electricity>:db:hp is supreme. The throw>:db:+hp on 1/3 of the characters in the corner is pretty cool. And the spinning dive kicks are good, too. Unfortunately, Makoto, Chun, Yang, Oro, Hugo, Remy, Ryu, and Akuma all beat him down pretty badly. Dudley’s a win, Urien’s a win, and everyone else is fair if you’re good. Learning to play him well is just as much about learning the other characters.
let the criticisms begin: why is wenzel so weak? seriously guys im trying hella hard to get better and im just getting raped. i feel like i probably play at least as much as everyone else if not more and showing no signs up improvement really. constructive advice greatly appreciated. thanks.
Wha? I gotta check this out. If it turns out I’ve been mislead to think this shit was more complicated than it is, I’m not leaving my DC alone for the next week :looney:
Yeah stuff like b.hp, db.hp (x6) is just ridiculously good timing. Sugi makes it look easy. Who knows if that shit even works in the DC version though, DC 3s is wack.
When one is in training mode, one only practices the things that are not yet within one’s own skill level. Training mode is where one goes to beef up on combos that have previously only been seen in videos and work on the theoretical level.
During casuals, one shows off the moves that have been tested, but not yet mastered. Using combos and setups that one can already execute against a human opponent is vital to see their effectiveness as well as your level of consistency with them. It’s also nice to throw in some “oh shit” material during casuals. Given that there’s nothing on the line, wow factor far outweighs the risk of a cataclysmic demise one concedes by giving up an opening.
Playing competitively though, that’s a whole other beast. When someone is playing to win (or playing to NOT LOSE as in my case), they use only the stuff that they’re sure they can execute, the ones that leave you with the most options, and offer the least amount of risk. When playing competitively, people go for the cheapest, most insipid, path of least resistance, if it would give them the win–and that’s perfectly acceptable. If the opponent can’t safely get out of the corner against Ryu’s fireball trap in old skool SF, keep doing that shit even if it only takes 1 sliver of chip every 3 seconds.
So now to the constructive criticism of the Wenzelnator. I’ve only played you in a casual setting, but I have watched you play in 2 so called tournaments now. Your knowledge of the game and of your teams is superb. One of the problems you face is that you never seem to step out of the Training Mode mind set. I’ve witnessed you catch someone in a ROM on countless occasions where you would engage in 7 different infinite patterns (one on every cycle). Invariably, you’d Wenzel it part way through–to use the proper vernacular–and end up eating a combo.
I’m not a great player. I’m not even a good player. But I can see this much. When you’re playing competitively, keep it simple (relative to Marvel standards) and keep if safe. When it comes to infinites, pick one and stick with it. Save the flare for casuals, and practice new things in training mode.
Most importantly: bars + bud + marvel = $6 to Nolan
Lol if I didn’t do things I couldn’t consistently execute I wouldn’t even play. I’m jealous of players with half of my game/combo knowledge for how tight their execution is.
Sometimes knowing too much becomes useless. It is like knowing 20 languages but never actually using any of them.
This becomes obvious in 3s, when you can only do so much in certain match ups and where you forget all that frame data and fancy crap seen in videos. Consitency is the key.
