!Constructive Criticism Thread!

You make me proud! Thanks for everything.

And funny thing is…Blacks and Santhrax…is like Whites to MSP…lol!

That’s exactly what I did, got used to the easier/basic Sentinel stuff first then tried fast fly. I used to be hella frustrated with fast fly at first. I think of all the Seattle players that are dedicated Sentinel players, I was the last one to use fast fly. I was able to do it, but wasn’t confident enough to use it in game. Takes time to get used to I think.

Deezo: i know this sounds stupid, but how do you multi quote the parts you wanna quote on someone’s post? I tried clicking multiquote, but i can’t seem to get it! It’s like missing the unblockable on psylocke (SHITTY)

Could somone help me or be my capcom assist please?

Im lovin this thread :lovin:

^-- Multiquote everything but the last quote, then press quote on that one.

Thank you Preppy! <3

P.S. Check your PMs Preppy =]

Send me to training mode please!

Chunky: Yeah, gimme a bit. I’m finishing uploading the Salinas tourney footage today. You should really block more. Your Sentinel is pretty raw though.

to all those reading mandel’s strats, i couldn’t agree with him more, although i do want to take a slight counter-point to the overall theme. while i do think combos are no doubt important, i think the best thing to concentrate on while starting out is winning. for sure, lightning attack xx HSF is a necessity with santhrax and making sure you can hit that every time is probably the first order of business with that team. however, 90% of the time you’re not going to be doing combos. the majority of the time is either spent zoning, playing keep away, or trying unsuccessfully to rush down and get your opponent into a combo. this 90% i believe is where the truly great players excel, and while some of those players are also great combo practitioners (jmar, rowtron, yipes, sanford to name a few), it certainly doesn’t hold true that the better you are at combos the better you are at the game. getting better in this aspect only comes when playing others, preferrably those who are better than you. just look at keith… he’s been getting noticably better practically every week since he started coming over to zach’s regularly and is starting to get wins, but he doesn’t even do fast-fly combos yet. i know it may be a little harder for some than others, but the more you can play against other people the better you’ll get, guaranteed. having said that, some individual assessments…

keith - don’t get too predictable… low-short-switch-glitch at the start every time with storn as well as tri-jump-low-short after every air combo. your sentinel is getting better… after flying short-roundhouse, don’t do rocket punch every time. its a free super jump out of sentinel trap. keep it up.

mandel - stupid stuff happens to everyone. just remember its a two way street. i agree that you have top player potential, but top players don’t let the stupid stuff get to them.

frank - consider sentinel. mag/storm or cable/tron if i remember correctly. kind of a gimmicky team, only a handful of players are really effective with it.

me - i am certainly not averse to criticism, nor do i think i couldn’t use improvement. help a player out!

Thanks man.

That tourney I got owned. However, it was a dollar tourney hehehe…still, the pride hurts…

What’s better in marvel? Money or Pride?

I pick both 'cause for pride i am a little religious and the money 'cause im a baller =]!

I got the block botton ready for evo + the robot i built with super penzoil!

Preppy > Life

The End

I think you misunderstood. My post about practice was mainly centered towards Kenny and his current Marvel situation. He understands what he’s supposed to do as he zones Magneto/Storm, and tries to fight/rushdown Sentinel/Cable. Which was why I said he didn’t really need to worry about strats and resets right now cause all that can be honed through play. I wouldn’t place combos above strats as combos are basically the reward for properly using strategies, but he sets people up for combos and never finishes them off.

Thanks for your input on my game. I’m one that thinks that if more than one person sees the same thing, then it’s more than likely to be true. I’ll try to concentrate more. I can’t really think of anyone that plays better when they’re mad besides Jason.

As for you…I can’t really think of any blatant faults. I will say that I don’t think you nearly get as much out of Magneto as you probably should. Seems to me like you could have random character/Storm/Sentinel and have nearly the same results as you do now. I think Storm/Sentinel/Commando is a much better fit for you than MSS. For you it makes sense, I don’t really think of you as a Magneto player. Other than that…you tri jump short a lot with Storm and I don’t really see you mix up with her low short or her multi hit tri jump nonsense. But then again why do that when you got idiots like me who don’t adapt to it when they know that that’s what they should be looking for? Hahah.

Airgrab with sentinel.

Fast-fly after airgrab = UUUUUUUUUGHHHHH! EEEAAASSYYYY!

You already know what’s up J =]

you’re right mandel i did misunderstand. having never played kenny myself (well, i might have but i didn’t know who you were if i did so sorry =]), i can’t comment on his play but i think the idea holds true for those that may still be new to the game. as for myself, i’ve known for quite a long time that magnus is not my strongest character, but goddamit if he isn’t fun to play! i can’t seem to really get the feel for the multi-hit storm tri jump timing, but i do agree i need to mix it up w/ low short more. couple more things…

jmar - stop beasting. oh, and qcf counter with magnus more. top player strategy.

zach - stop beating me with megaman… shit hurts my feelings

chunk - come up for prez day weekend. there’ll be sentinel airgrabs a-plenty

cody - shut up. you’re fat

Actually Nolan you have played Kenny before. Tall bald headed black guy that uses Santhrax. You played him at GW a couple times a while ago. He’s Seattle’s Sanford Kelly in training. Come Evo he’ll be our secret weapon.

Here a few tips that have helped me throughout my playing days.

Use standing launch with storm. It has the most priority out of any move in the game. Don’t be afraid to run away with storm either. Just super jump and start building meter and then when people try to chase you, you can rush em down.

With Sentinel… utilize the flying. Flying back with the frying pan is a good move vs most characters. Mag/Storm dashing at you will get met with a frying pan and if they block it, it does chip damage as well. Mouthbeam fly/unfly. This is good for zoning a nigga out. Make the opponent come chase you and you will benefit cause they’ll start running into mouthbeams/rocketpunches/commandos.

More to come later. Holler atcha boy!

play clockw0rk for 000000. some of the s/d traps are crazy annoying to get out of.

learn sentinel. he’s the most broken character in the game, and pretty much has a counter for anything with the right assist.

but don’t listen to me, i really suck.

Damn.

Any other CSS players to give me some strats against better players? I’ve got some combos and rushdown play down, but I still don’t really have it down well against somebody else. Even the max level cpu doesn’t give much of a chance to learn.

I wish i could man, but wouldn’t it be better if i came in March for like a week? =D! President’s week i only have Fri, Sat, Sun, and Monday off from school. I start on Tuesday again next week. Hopefully there will be people around that time =]

Preppy, SVGL has one of the best air hockey competitors you’ll ever see. My former employee Dave is getting up there lol.

Nigga Shut up!
