!Constructive Criticism Thread!

those WERE the days =] bring it back Cody.

So what do people have to say to an old timer as myself? That itch to play has came back and i don’t have no cream to suppress it, so i might be making a horrid comeback to get mobbed on by everyone again. Again the only ppl that know who i am/have seen me play would probably be zach and mandel so yea.

^-- Don’t get so frustrated. Keep your hope alive. The belief that a match might be winnable can make a ton of difference. You can get black-man-angry, which is when people start beating themselves.

And stop biting my teams.

lol! Are you serious…

I never ecen heard of your teams until couple months back! and i’ve never tried to use it! Their too weird for me i guess.

But thank’s for the advice…

I was talking to Frank, not you. I don’t know your play style at all. Frank obviously gets mad when he plays, same with Mandel. I can’t think of many people that get better when they get mad. Get focused instead (focus the anger) and then get mad after the match. =\

I totally understand that! Sorry for the confusion…

Believing is achieving!

Should i put some D’s on that bitch? Cuz i just bought a Cadillac =]

Should i come to Seattle on President’s Week? Or should i just console with the grimiest player in the world?

WooMighty: IM THE GRIMIEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD!
Chunk: Stfu and keep mashing!

In marvel there are 5 different levels a player can be in and they could only have 2 together:

  1. Grimey
  2. The Gatekeeper
  3. Lucky
  4. Top player
  5. GODLIKE

I already think outside the box. Plus, I don’t procrastinate! Therefore, the Chunk Factor = number 3 and number 5 lolol.

Random McRandom post lol. Just wanted to say heads up about the 2nd paragraph =]

0_o that would be cool…where are you going to be located…

I have nothing to contribute to this thread, except that I know I need to use s.HK -> EX MGB with Dudley more.

I’d give advice to other people, but I’m always the one losing, so I have nothing to say. :lovin:

Personally when it comes to dudley…you should glance at that Dudley 3s forum in SRK…

Good read.

That’s where I am when I’m not posting nonsense in here.

Hasn’t helped :frowning:

Bit of an update.

Tried Doom as well as Sent. Doom’s not too bad, Assist is a definite plus. As far as Sent though… I reaaaaaly hate playing as him. I’m not feelin it at all. So far the only character for my team is Strider… Still looking for partners.

You don’t have to like him, he’s just awesome and would set up Strider that much better. Plus if Doom dies, the Strider/Sent tandem has got some pretty interesting tricks.

So, you’re saying that I should use DOOM AND SENT???

Man. This playing Strider has some serious drawbacks. I’ll try it though, thanks. If anyone wants to post Doom/Sent/Strider+Sent advanced tactics, quote this and feel free.

This brings up a good tip for anyone trying to come up in MvC2 :

PICK SENTINEL

There are some pretty good marvel players out there with weak sentinels. Don’t let this happen to you! Besides being a super powerful character he is also one of the most unique and fun characters to play in any fighting game.

also yeah, sent/strider/doom is a really good strider team.

yeah… Seriously. Sent is the most used character in top play for a reason. Storm and Sent are the best, bro. And if you learn Sentinel, I’m sure you’ll have fun with him. Magic Series FTW :lovin:

All day long…

long post, print out and read if you’re gonna take a shit

Since you were nice enough to reply to my post I’ll reply to yours…even though I was planning to anyway hahah.

I think it’s really good you use Santhrax. Black people <3 Santhrax. In my opinion it should be the only team blacks are allowed to play hahah. I hate Commando otherwise I would play it more. But as for how to get better with that team consider this…

-Practice Practice Practice. I sound like a broken record of course but practice seriously does wonders. We’re talkin bout practice man! Not the game, not the actual game where it matters, but PRACTICE! To be specific here’s what I think you need to practice, don’t necessarily worry about strats too much right now as you can learn that through playing.

-Storm combos. You often times let people off the hook because you don’t make the hits you land with Storm count. Don’t worry about resets, that’s stuff you can learn later on. Right now you need to concentrate on guaranteed damage. Practice these…

tri jump short, low short, low jab, low roundhouse, sj airdash up/forward, short short, lightning attack xx super. If you have 3,4 bars you can then dhc to Captain Sword, then dhc to Drones in an attempt to kill off a character.

launch+commando, hail. You’ll be amazed at how wonderful this combo is.

the sentinel only infinite, normal jump short short, fierce, roundhouse. Do this for about 40-45 hits before you go for either dash up short short, typhoon xx hail/dash up short short, launch+commando hail.

in the corner, launch, roundhouse, airdash down/forward, rh, land, short, jab, fierce, roundhouse. Mixup afterwards.

launch, sj roundhouse, airdash forward, short short, lightning attack xx super.

and last but not least launch, sj short short, airdash forward, rh. This combo allows you to rush them down on wakeup, making them guess between high/low.

-I think you kinda understand what you need to do with Sentinel, but for a refresher…

fast fly. You only need two different combos with Santhrax (maybe three), launch/air to air sj short, fly, short short+commando, donkey punch and launch/air to air sj short, fly short+commando, fierce, upwards rocket punch. If you wanna get fancy you can do low short, standing jab, fly, short, roundhouse+commando, unfly short short, land sj short, rocket punch. Good combo if you don’t have a super yet have unfly.

low short, standing jab, jab rocket punch xx super. This combo is too important. After that hits you know what time it is.

Sentinel is a character that gets better through constant play. This could all be a bit much, but that’s where practice comes into play. Practice awards you with a foundation for your combos, then when you have that, all you need to focus on is learning strategies and matchups. Which you can easily learn through play and match videos or asking around.

-Stuff to remember with Commando…

Safe captain corridors. A character that’s above you (super jump height), cannot punish a blocked captain corridor. Something to keep in mind. Calling drones or typhoon and then doing corridor makes it safe against rushdown characters.

jab jab, corridor xx captain sword. It’ll always drag down rushdown characters. It’ll drag down Cable and Sentinel if you’re meant to win the match.

a cute combo to use with Commando/Sentinel is…low short, low short+Sentinel, low fierce, captain fire, (drones hit) captain storm.

A good combo to do against Sentinel…while coming down from a sj, fierce, roundhouse, land corridor xx super. Buffff

A Cable that normal jumps and does jumping fierce without anything behind it, can get hit by either of your supers. Just be weary of trying this while he has a super cause your shit will get fried.

A Sentinel that does low mouthbeam, short drones, can get ate up by captain sword.

Couple tricks to keep in mind. Remember Commando sucks, either you’re gonna beast or you’re gonna die. No in between.

As far as your other questions go…I’ve always believed that competitive gaming requires talent. Hard work is great but there has to be talent behind it. With that said I think you’re raw talent right now. How good you’ll be…only time will tell. A lot of that is up to you of course, how much you practice, how much you play with the best competition around. In your scenario it’s hard because you live so far away, along with the fact that right now you don’t have a stick. Hopefully that’ll all change soon =]. Also don’t be scared to ask people questions when you do come out. Everyone’s nice here.

Hope that helps.

Find a team you’re comfortable with and stick with them. After you realize what counters that team, learn a counter team for that team and keep it movin. You’re at a state where you don’t really need to practice so much except for the more complex stuff, like fast fly. Play more often, make people remember why you’re a force to be reckoned with nigga!

Thanks for the tips. I’m so short tempered it’s hard for me to focus after somethin fuckin stupid happens. I’ll keep that in mind, I think I have the potential to be a beast, but I have shit that holds me back like rage. Hahah.

Yes you should put D’s on it. And I wholeheartedly agree with your levels of Marvel.

Kenny-A couple things I forgot to mention with Sentinel…

if you’re flying and a Sentinel does drone super if you have a few options but the common ones are…

(if you don’t have a super)

while flying, call commando, short short, rocket punch.

(if you have a super AND have unfly)

while flying, roundhouse, unfly fierce, dash up short, jab, rocket punch xx super.

Sentinel can only go low on another Sentinel with low roundhouse. So low roundhouse (for 2 hits) rocket punch xx super.

Buffest combo you can do on another Sentinel from a launch is jab, short, jab, short, fierce, roundhouse. Which on wakeup allows you to go high/low.

A lot of information to process, figured I’d make another post instead of editing the one I just made and possibly having you miss it.

Wow. That was a most useful post from my amateur perspective. I gotta work on some of those punishment combos. In the past, I’ve always just gotten frustrated when I couldn’t do the intermediate fast fly or ROM setups in training, and wasted 30 minutes in practice mode only to get angry. Perhaps I should get used to those combos and hope that the more advanced stuff comes easier through rote execution.
