Complete "How to Change the Music in MVC2 + How to make your game selfboot" Thread

things I didn’t think to point out #173:

Don’t go crazy with directory names. Keep it to 8 characters, uppercase for simplicity’s sake. It look like Metrock’s major problem was spaces in the directory names caused the script to bomb.

The ‘no boot image specified’ seems because the version of mkisofs doesn’t have the ‘-cache-inodes’ option built in (old version). If you run ‘mkisofs -help’ youll get a list of all of the command switches it takes. Double check if ‘-cache-inodes’ is on the list, and get a new version if it isnt

Sorry Dawg i wast sure on how the names are on the joliet system. This guy Toodles is amazing. He helped me thru the process and actually was a cool guy.

‘mkisofs -V GoldenStillAintPaidShit -C x,y -o data.iso -cache-inodes*** -b IP.BIN -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 ***data’

I used this extra to finally make the not boot image specified error go away. Dont ask me exactly what it means or what it does. It worked and I was able to make the image wich was good for burning.

Here it is, as I promised (you need to be registered at this site to get it):

Thanks again to Toodles, I’ll get that hex info you asked me asap

I got a weird problem. adx_s040, 50, and 60 never work. Ironically, I think these are the stages with alternates. I’ve even tried to replace those with ones I know work like 00\10\20 and they won’t work either. I think its the CD i’m using to extract my data from but can anyone confirm this?

what game are they from/for?

Mr.Q i sent you a PM, but I don’t know if you got it or not. Anyways, I want to know what remixes you used for the ‘Beats of Rage II Remixed’ you created. I like them a lot, but when i convert the .bor files back to wave the are VERY low quality. :stuck_out_tongue:

Eidrian check your PM’s :stuck_out_tongue:

My work is done. TDC Final v2 is ‘out’. Thank god, I was getting sick of working on it.

Im sure in your own special way you enjoyed it:sweat:

im having the same problem, i followed the tutorial to the T. i even tried putting the CD in my pc to see if my PC can read it, and i cant even explore the disc on my pc, i dont know what is wrong.

I’ve asked this question in a different thread, and was referred to this one. Anyway, here it is:

I’ve tried to make a custom version of CVS2 for the Dreamcast, following the instructions given on this site, but to no avail… I have a burned copy that I manage to get my hands on, but it has no IP.BIN. I’ve tried to create one like the site instructed, but that failed as well… I’d like to know where I can get an IP.BIN, as well as a 1st_read.bin that would go with it… Can you help me?

P.S. I’ve also noted that the Page for Custom MVC2’s has both the 1st_read.bin and IP.BIN located in the downloads section. Why doesn’t the CVS2 section have that?

Sorry for the double post, but I’ve waited for a few days with no response to my perdicament… Will anyone help me?

Would I be able to change the music in Street Fighter III: Double Impact?

Edit: seems like no, damn. I was looking forward to that

If you havea working copy of cvs2, use that 1st_read.bin. The IP.BIN’s are interchangable, so use the one from combomasher’s mvc2 downloads.

Already tried that… It gets to the SEGA Logo Screen, and then resets indefinitely… And I know it’s not my system since it doesn’t do that to me with any other burned game that I have…

I haven’t read this thread in ages, but I am hearing something about a TDC, so what is that?

same here, I’m wondering also

Dunno how much I can say. Search for TDC Final on torrent sites.

/\ Is it selfbooting?

of course
