Yup, very doable. If you wanted to do the linking I’ve described earlier (the part that seems to require linux), then you could use the full 2/3 of the disc for music, and have as many different soundtrack options as you could fit ADX’s into 500 megs or so. If you didn’t or couldnt use the linking technique, then you could only fit 2-3 soundtracks onto the disc, because you’d need to fully copy the game files for each soundtrack.
If you want to try it, find my posts in this thread about how TDC_Final was made and give it a shot.
Cool; thanks very much for the response.
Here’s something kickass my friend suggested that combomasher should add to his tutorial.
My friend suggested that you get a dreamcast emulator and daemon’s tools so you can test it out without having to burning CDS just to see if it works. Logically it should work and you no longer have to make countless coasters before learning the art of it. I STILL haven’t figured it out but if I try again it’ll probably be using this method.
Take care

don’t think chankast works with custom games/ homebrews
I use Nero Express to make the image file then Disk Juggler to burn! It always goes right to me. I think it’s the copy I have that is running okay… its 1st_read.bin is very good.
It seems a lot of people use Nero. I actually tried myself but either I just could not figure out how to make isos with it or the demos I downloaded did not have that feature. I know people have been doing this custom stuff for a while so they probably use older versions of Nero, I think I was getting some of the newest versions.
On a side note, I made another successful MvC2, but this time I used data I got from a selfboot copy. All I did was remove those superfluous files I mentioned in my previous long post and added the IP.bin from the selfboot.zip. It seemed to work fine other than a few tracks that skip and it seems to load a tad slow at certain points. I know, however, that this method I just explained has not worked for some people. I wonder why? Perhaps a bad 1st_read.bin? Anyhow, my next project is going to be a custom CvS2. All I have though is a selfboot copy so I hope this will work out just as it did for me with MvC2.
I tend to lean towards using CDRwin to make the ISO’s when I make custom mix’s. I have been using the echelon method lately to create and burn my mix’s using CDRWin instead of creating a selfboot .cdi file.
Does anyone here know how to change the music for the ps2 version? I downloaded a fighters megamix that had a remix mvc2 for ps2 and was wondering how its done. I looked through that fighter mix but couldn’t find out which files were for mvc2. I think i remember a guy named edrian or something said he knows how and supposely its easier than the dc version.
I know the DC version is better but just curious on how its done for the ps2.
That skipping (most obvious at the attract screen. MarvMarvMarvMarvel vs Capcom 2…) can be fixed by adding a dummy file. It doesnt have anything to do with the files themselves. If the selfboot CvS2 you’re copying from works, and you have a known good ip.bin to use, it should work fine.
I know this is an old thread but we’re all always needing help right? heh. I’m gonna start doing it soon. Quick question. Can someone identify these guides for me? Ive had these customized-marvel-music-changing guides saved to my favorites for awhile but don’t know which is for which system?
http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67472 (this guide for this topic)

*or does it not matter for which system the guides are for? cause its all basic
(im interested in the PS2 one, cause thats the system i have marvel for)
AFAIK, they’re all Dreamcast, no?
that guide on my site is written by forte, not by me.
update coming soon…and hopefully forum actually
woops my bad mixah edits BTW, m1x4H, do you post on the marvel section of gamefaqs? (ps2 & arcade) cause there’s something there by the name of “THEREAL_m1x4h” that posts a lot. and i was wondering if you were the same person. or if it was some fake one immitiating the real one
Combomasher, so I can’t use any of the 3 guides i mentioned for the ps2? if not, then do you plan on releasing a ps2 edition in the near future? your helping a LOT of people man… keep it up, we appreciate it
i just started posting there again… i only have about 20 posts or so… but w/e… i don’t like it there. i’d much rather post here. i just post in the non-stupidity threads… but yeah.
Insomniac487 - I have not done a custom mix for the ps2 at all. But as long as the audio files were still the same adx format I dont see why you couldnt use your own songs for it using the same steps. But I would think that making the game selfboot would be a different process since it is for a different system. Again, i have never made or burned ps2 games so I do not now how to do that.
If anyone has made a custom mix for the ps2 please share what steps you did and I can make a tutorial for it.
I get that error with the version of cdrwin i provided, will include version cdr40c-a in the next release. But in the meantime here is a link to version cdr40c-a that wont crash when the iso is finished http://dhost.info/combomasher/cdr40c-a.exe. Copy and paste url in address bar, dont just click on the link(my host doesnt like hot linking)
Would anyone be interested if I had a forum dedicated to this as well as other games and other issues regarding dreamcast games? you guys could go there and help out and ask questions if you wanted and have seperate threads and stuff.
me. also if you could include a section for us xbox/ps2 users, that’d be great!
Alright, would anyone like to test out something for me? I got it to work for me but I dont wanna release anything till I know that it will work for more then just me. I have a modified program that will autoloop adx files without having to get that output number after first converting the file to adx. Further, I have added to my convert.bat script to use the adx autoloop program to fully automate the process of converting wav files to adx. So all you gotta do is click on the script and let it convert your song and loop them for you. Pretty neat huh? Well I am just seeing if anyone wouldnt mind burning a mix with the sing that have been looped using my script, i need to make sure it works with more than just myself. So if anyone would wanna send me some songs to convert using my script then burn a custom mix hit me up on aim: feartetsuo or send me a pm.
I would be interested in that forum. I really need help to change songs of my cvs2.
