Complete "How to Change the Music in MVC2 + How to make your game selfboot" Thread

I’ll add toodles SSF2X tutorial on my main site for easy access since this question has been asked countless times.

well, I’m having some problems trying to change music on CVS2. It seems to be a problem in 1st_read.bin, because it goes to SEGA logo and after that it returns to DC options/play screen.

I used the IP.BIN from my MVC2, since you guys said it can be used, and I’ve made many music-changed-MVC2

can someone help me?

My CvS2 i made without selfbooting it… if i do bin2boot, it fucks it up, but it works fine if i use the utopia disc.

Welcome, glad it helps.

Just re-do it. Using a known-good ip.bin from MvC2 will work just fine, and if you’ve done it before, then you know you’re just missing a step. There is really no difference at all between changing the music in cvs2 vs mvc2, except the file names of the music files. I’m betting the 1st_read.bin and ip.bin files were not BINHACK’ed properly.

in all honesty… i just do this…

explore the CD, tools > file options > view hidden files

drag the entire CD to a folder, replace the ADX files, create image with cdrwin, burn it…
i don’t hack shit or extract in any different way…

Yea it does. That 8 or 16-bit music is outdated. I got some completely redone SSF2X tracks that are WAY better. Props to the people who made the tracks, forgot who they were  . I especially like the Guile and Vega (guy with claw) tracks. Check them out  . Tell me what y’all think about them.

making this custom never works for me, the damn game always loops from the dreamcast logo to the sega logo…anyone else having this issue? anyone else using a DVD burner for their burns?

Yeah, I had that problem, but doing it using through the command line worked for me, and yes, I was using a DVD burner as well.

I had a similar problem, it was caused by using a self boot with the Utopia disc. It’s shocking because I had to use PAL Patcher too, not that it was hard, it’s just a nusence.

Hrmm…They’re a little slow at the start for my tastes, I certainly wouldn’t replace them with those. They’re nice like, just wouldn’t suit it imo.

Yea, they do start a little slow. That’s why I edited them and only put in a small clip. The small clip being the part of the song that is fast. Not the slow stuff.

so if i use pal patcher i’ll be able to play some marvel with some new music???
I’ve follwed these instructions exactly and i haven’t had one version work, and if i hear “I’m gonna take you for a ride!” one more time i might kille some people.

Can you put custom soundtracks for a burned copy of Cvs2 for a modded ps2?

What I wanna know is:

Will the CPS1/Arrange ADXes from Hyper SF2 work with SSF2X without messing with them?

If they won’t loop properly (try playing a HSF2 ADX in CinePack, and it won’t), I wanna know beforehand.

I’m sure I’ll have to trim the dummy, as HSF2’s are all 48000Hz, while SSF2X uses 44100…

This is the second place I’ve posted this, but that thread had a second question, and that track took over.

Edit:

Since I saw some questions being asked about looping files for ADX, and I can offer my ‘expertise’…

For starters, you’ll want (and this probably came with your sound card, if you still have the CD) a program called WaveLab Lite. This will allow you to PREVIEW your loops, so you don’t have to go blind or go 0-end.

Then, when you have the WAV you want to convert, open it up, and play it once or twice. Find out WHERE you want the song to repeat from (and to), and select it.

Ther should be a button that says ‘loop selection’. Use it to test your loop, and tweak it if necessary. When you have it where you want it (I’m a stickler for accuracy, but it’s your mix, do what you like), zoom ALL the way in on the lower view, right-click and choose Go To -> Selection Start, write down the number, and then ‘Go To -> Selection Ed’ (again, write it down).

When you’re done with that, throw those numbers into adxencd for the -lps and -lpe parameters. Test in CinePack or WinAmp.

I have images showing an example, but no place to host them. When I find someplace, I’ll post 'em.

Cinepack has never worked for me and so i never use it to test out my ADX files. I always use a ADX plugin for winamp that will play my ADX files for me, but the plugin cant play songs that have been looped. So if you decide to try that plugin dont get pissed if your looped songs dont play. But I cant honestly say if the ADX files from a CPS1 game are any different than ones from a Dreamcast game. So you will just have to download that plugin and see if the songs play, which they should as long as the songs ARENT looped.

Link to ADX plugin - ADX Plugin . Just place this into the plugin folder of your winamp directory.

I was just wondering…

You know on the air ship in MVC2…

There is one for night time and one for day…

Can there be two seperate tracks because they are two different stages?..

My friend has a custom soundtrack…

And the air ship for day plays a different song for the airship for night…

He says you can only pick 8 songs for the custom track…

Just wondering…

Its 2006 can we have an offical change the music in cvs2 thread?

I’ve been meaning to ask about that since december of 04

Combomaster:

use in_cube.dll if you wanna play ADX files in WinAmp.

I’ve never had any problems with CinePack, it’s just that this one works better, as well as playing SSBM’s music in its native format.

yes i would like to know this also?

Great Find  Works really well and plays back looped ADX songs.
