hi guys, a quick update. getting some 1 on 1 help now.
just a couple quick thingsā¦
is that mix youāre putting together/put together going to be available for the ps2? Iād love to get a copy of the finished product.
finally got palmod 1.22 to work properly. and I think I have the music mix right (of course itās a crappy roughshod mix right now, but thats ok for a first try). what I need is a good burning program and some better info on what specific files Iām going to burn this to disc, and how? ( bcuz I got, somewhere in my digging, a āself bootā download that has some files like DK studio and CDwrin on it, not sure what else, but I donāt really remember what its for, just some instructions saying to put the data file in the selfboot and then put all the other files in the data file except the ādummy fileāā¦)
now, if I donāt burn to disc, and instead try some sorta hard drive install, how is that done? I have a SLIM ps2 with no visible network adaptor.

all these mixes are dreamcast and to answer your other questions you should use alcohol to burn and you have to insert a burned copy of mvc2 in your computer and copy everything except the dummy into the data folder in the selfboot folder and if you dont have a burned copy you need to download daemon tools to to mount the image in your computer meaning that the program tricks your computer into thinking that there is a burned copy of the game in your computer

i think that discjuggler was one of the many apps given in the selfboot. now i know what it was for. other instructions i found by Combomasher suggested CD/DVD GEN 1.5, so i wasnāt sure of discjugglerās purpose.
those instructions also said āeverything except the dummy into the data folder in the self boot folderā but it didnt clarify if āeverythingā meant only the MVC2 files and folders, or also included all the other files and apps given in the selfboot folder. i mention this because it sounds like it should only be the MVC2 stuff BUT the only dummy file i see CAME with the selfboot folder (which then suggests the whole slew gets stuffed into the selfboot save the dummy they gave).
some final clarification please. 1) DAEMON is supposed to help get the files off the MVC2 right? well, firstly, i couldnāt get it to allow me to mount an image from the disc (still trying it tho), but secondly, my burner read the disc fine and copied the files to my C drive no problem without DAEMON. and 2) what is the reason for needing a dupe of MVC2 to get the image files instead of an original?

Iāve just upgraded my machine and I donāt have CD burner anymore on it, only dvd burner. I can get the echelon method to work again. Is there any other good and reliable method for selfbooting the game, despuite the dvd burner thing?
why dont you just put your game in a flash drive and burn it on someone elses computer:coffee::rolleyes:

I think someone else sent me a mix, but i think i lost it or simply forgot to place it in the list. So far we have a deal here: If we add another music mix, one color set has to go, meaning the total color set will be down to 8. If we fill 9 spots of color sets, then the last audio mix will have to go. So far both spots are open so the next one to fill these requirements will be deciding which way to go.
About deadlines, you still have time to send stuff in and make some arrangements. Deadline will be basically when all the spots are filled. :tup:

damn, wish i was completely finished with mine iād throw it on there but i got like 15 more chars to do and iām really not in any rush anyways.
i took some advice someone threw out there with instrumentals. i ditched the j-pop idea and went with thatā¦ i like it betterā¦ j-pop is catchy but iāve got a head ache from itā¦ figured iād save some ears and just go with something simple.
looks like my mix will be finished in prob a wk or two. itāll be up for an early download of course but iāll still be giving away copies along with a char select cheat sheet of all the fruity colors in store.
to restate, iām trying to customize a ps2 mvc2. but i canāt find a cohesive set of instructions AND tools. iāve ALMOST found it all. but now, iāve prolly got my steps and info crossed up six ways to sunday.
this site seems to have it put together the best, http://dhost.info/stevef/guide4.htm but heās using even more different programs and differing instructions than combomasher.
i canāt be sure why the heck its been so difficult to complete this process. but i think it began with instructions from combomasher and his site that keeps crossing back and forth between CD images/CD burning, and DVD programs that wonāt respond to anything made from the CD. CD DVD GEN 2.0 will make IML files from CD images but says i need 600000 sectors to make a DVD IML (and wonāt complete the extract command). DVD Decrypter wonāt read a file taken from a CD image. Discjuggler will burn CDās only, but wonāt work with DVD originated files. my troubles continue, because i donāt have a working version of Nero either, but iām on my way to a system with one.
i know the game is almost 10 years old, but how did this get so muddled? it looks like MAYBE all i need is Audacity 1.3, BeeThink, Nero, DK Studio, DVD decrypter, a working link to a CD-to-DVD rebuilt MVC2 image file, and WINRAR and UTorrent to open it all. iām sure iāve missed a couple. LOL. some programs like isobuster seem surpurfluous (sp?).
there are so many different instructions calling for CDās and CD burning or DVDās and DVD burningā¦ do they both work? what is the latest concensus for how to get this done for the PS2 (anything more Vista friendly, too?) ?
on a side note, it looks like iāll have to keep posting a bit just so iāll be allowed to send?answer PMās. so iāll prolly find something else to bring up. please bear with me as i try to sort it all out.
