Oh yeah, stick with this game.
Whats the big deal with something being a sport? Does it even matter?
No, it doesn’t matter. It’s just that it’s summer and people don’t have shit else to do.
That, and some people have such a hard-on for winning the battle that they’ll run down any semantical rabbit hole they can find.
And hey, why not? Threads like this highlight the idiots pretty quickly.
…that poor, poor CVS2 cab…
Don’t you mean gaydar?
In regards to Esports as “real” sports. There is an administration or something that deems things as official “sports” this has never happened for any game in North America. In South Korea though starcraft = baseball. So maybe not in North America but there are places in the world that consider a video game thier national pastime.
what the fuck is a herro canary?
do you have such a life that you have nothing better to do than spam this forum? get a life and grow up little boy.
IMHO it doesnt. It doesnt matter what you play or do. If you have a community that is the best at what they do and love it and find sport in it, No matter what it may be its a sport to them and thats all that matters.
When i was a kid we played street hockey with one fkn goal. If you asked me back then if that was my sport id say hell yeah! Because it was to me.
I bet if all the top fighting game players came in here and said fuck it. Were callin this fighting game shit that we do a sport because its our form of competition. Everyone would be on the bandwagon. Then you would be on some other site defending what you do and love.
Peace
EDIT: This wasnt an attack at you FMJ i was just using your post to quote the question i was ganna ask anyways.
I wonder why everytime someone comments negativily about competitive gaming, they have to be considered trolling or spamming?
Because the person who brings the topic up usually doenst know what the fuck they are talking about and they just want to say shit like “LOL EVERYBODY WHO PLAYS GAMES COMPETITIVELY IZ STUPID AND THE AR3 LOZERZ LOL!!!1!!!”, Some people actually have legit arguments against competitive gaming but by the time they contribute something the discussion is a shitstorm.
Well as stated before, your lucky if 1% of the population would even listen and keep an open mind to competetive gaming.
Ok, this shit isnt like poker, the rules are simple and it is possible for an amatuer to win against a pro, hence its growth in popularity. Tennis, Golf, hell even wierd things such as ping pong, put put championships, anything you could think of is much more easily related to by the average person.
Games are just way too complicated with too many nuances, also take too much time to get into to.
Major Leauge Gaming will take off i bet, but unfortunatly not with the convuluted fighting games we play now, maybe ST but i couldnt see anyone paying attention for more than 5 seconds in any other game.
Its the FPS, the maddens, etc. that will become the mainstream and hopefully one day be considered a “sport” just like golf/cards/pool are considered “sports” and get coverage on ESPN.
Its hella late and im realy high, so just try and peace together what im trying to say, lates
ps Hero-Canary or whatever, just because you are a dungeuon kid who couldnt play sports and got picked on by jocks or something doesnt mean you should hate on baseball. Your a fucking idiot, baseball IS america. Theres so much history from jackie robinson to now the breaking of hank aaron’s record. Yes baseball is also technicaly a game but pretending pressing buttons and using true athletic skill and REAL hand eye coordination(you think doing a practiced combo compares with hitting a 90 plus mph fastball) is ludacris.
With the rise of poker and before that pool im sure video games will get there chance and i hope they do…but first they need to find a crowd of non “nerds and geeks”(not using it offensively, but u all know what i mean) that play while also finding a way to condense the rules into a 2 minute slide show to explain to the viewer.
Herro is quite athletic.
comparing games to sports is stupid imo. Sports require many years of mental and physical dedication. While games require this too, the physical dedication isn’t in comparison and the outcome is quicker. Mentally sports require more too, I wouldn’t know most sports I ever played was at friends house playing basketball when I was 12 lol.
I guess you can make the argument that Gaming is like a sport because of its mental aspect, but the lack of physical dedication is what kills it.
This was trolling? I thought he was responding mainly to the topic title instead of literally TRYING to piss people off. And this statement was no where near troll capacity.
You missed my question i think, i’m asking why does it even have to be a “sport to anyone”?
Is a competition more valid if it’s a sport (no), does it imply that you get more money? (no, despite some peoples mispostings), does being a sport imply that there is more skill? sponsors? games? players?
So what about pro sports? Well you focus on the wrong word, it’s not that its a sport, it’s that it’s a profession. Their business model reaches millions of people all over the world, they are in every type of media: radio, tv, internet, amd print. That is why they get paid more, not because it’s a sport.
Go to the final fantasy boards and tell them their entire community is stupid for not having “ruby weapon time attack tournaments for money”…
If you don’t want competition, there are better mario games… as in every other mario game but smash, and possibly the sports themed ones. If you want capcom games, there are non-fighting games, retro ones like D&D and Final Fight, and well, every current game they make except SFHD/PFHD.
It’s unfair that they can only master 99% of games? that they can’t have the 1% that actually require competition?
I guess people obsess over what they can’t have… but this case is a little exteme IMO.
It could be the fact that you’re on a message board for a competitive gaming website, and that 99% of the people here are either competitive gamers or aspire to be. Go to a Hello Kitty message board and tell them Hello Kitty sucks and you’ll probably get called a troll there too.
It’s a matter of history and perspective.
Sports (physical) have been around for a much longer time then video games.
Same with card games or other games like chess so they too are acceptable for use in earning money.
I have no major qualms about professional gamers other than some tend to have an even more priviledged and elitist attitude than SRK’s worst. It’s gets more annoying when in reality some pro gamers aren’t even the best in their game unlike in sports where only the best make it to the top. A lot of pro gamers are some times choosen on personality, marketablity, etc. etc. After all, realistically CS doesn’t directly earn you money, but your skill and legacy as a gamer or you as an individual can be used as a marketing tool for a company to earn money.
To me, Fighting games are more of a passion, like the Olympics. Well really, like amatuer wrestling. It’s an amazing thing to be a part of and can change and teach you things in life. However you’ll probably never really make any “real” money off of it.
Honestly I don’t think you should pay any heed or credence to a video wherein someone says: “reverse inferiority complex”.
Hoch Hech, Endut.
