Really, idiot? Because i was looking at my ceiling fan this entire time. Good to finally know that if i instead look at my character, i can see the visual cue of animations of varying length that are divided into visually indistinguishable gradients of 17 milliseconds.
The case for 1 frame links has been made. Thanks to you, i suddenly find myself interested in spending hours fishing for the timing of one move so i can get on with actually playing the fucking game.
you make it sound like you can’t play the game without knowing every single link in the entire game. maybe knowing all of your main’s links is important, but if you want to pick up another character then there are far more important things for you to be doing than learning some links. maybe they’ll make you feel better about yourself to hit them in the danger room all the time, i dunno, but if you want to actually learn how to play the character you’re better off learning how to play them fundamentally and like one or two reliable punish combos before you go for more advanced stuff. walk before you run and all that.
i just tried to do el fuerte’s shower kick > lk > cr mk and i’m pretty sure that’s 2 one framers in a row. by paying attention to what he was doing during the shower kick, i figured out the best time to hit the lk in like, 10 minutes. another 3 or so to keep from forgetting the timing of the mk after that and i was going like 35-40% and i don’t play fuerte at all. it’s pretty damn useless, i just picked something arbitrarily difficult to see and it wasn’t really that bad. if it takes you hours to figure out when to press the button, that probably has more to do with you than the game.
Good thing you figured that out then, since every move has the exact same amount of frames and, thus, the same link timing. Also, you totally justified their existence in the first place.
I think they are an issue because delay in online play frequently throws off link timing and makes them impossible to hit. Not everyone is blessed enough to live in a country where arcades still exist.
and also because the one frame links people use are safe on block just in case. the real danger is getting a reversal in the middle if you miss, I wouldn’t break out a link into something unsafe and just hand them my own ass (Although I do go for Boxer’s jab-ultra in casual situations)
Not trying to push away new players but seriously guys, these games require skill, speed and timing. They always have and always will. Hone your skills in these areas.
I wasn’t really talking about Blanka or his ultra, I was trying to figure out what in the world Pandaman64 was trying to say. I think he’s calling Blanka players morons…? Or something, it’s really confusing because I’m not sure he quoted the right post.
It’s not confusing at all… the person he quoted asked, if 1 frame links are so easy why don’t people combo into blanka’s ultra more often?
The answer to that is because blanka’s combo into ultra is a single crouching medium kick perfectly spaced one-frame linked into ultra.
He’s not saying blanka players morons, he’s saying that only a moron would think that a single crouching medium kick perfectly spaced is a hit confirm into your ultra. He quoted the right post, I have no idea how that could possibly be confusing to you unless you didn’t know that that was the only way to combo into Blanka’s ultra outside of a focus attack or stun.
Essentially, you’d be stupid to gamble your ultra on that one hit, especially given Blanka’s phenomenally good focus attack and far, far more tactical usage as an ambiguous crossup.
EDIT:: As Jagger kindly and respectfully pointed out I mention Ryu a lot. I glitched out while writing this and thought i was in the ryu thread. i appologise. I do not think it detracts from the points made however.
i used to be anti 1/2 frame links…fair enough one frame links are still hard, but not impossible…but i thought ‘stop whining’ and just put some effort in…
if you sit down in training mode with auto block, pretty soon youll get the one rhythm for 2 frame links, especially if you use plinking.
its really satisfying too, u feel really in control landing links and i feel it helps slow your inputs down (which has been my biggest problem, starting a combo and ending up frantically mashing away, whereas just inputting slowly at a reasonable pace would result in the combo coming out)
its another level for those who care…yes its pointless on line…but you dont even need harsh links online or for big damage… c.lk->clp so you can xxsrk is probably the only link that you need to have (its not a hard one) and this might get messed up online, but oh well. j.FP->c.FPxxFP.SRKxxSUPER->Ultra needs no links and is 600+ damage!
if you dont wanna learn, dont use it. and until you learn it, dont moan its hard, cos its really not as hard as it first seems.
i found a good one to learn the link timing on a medium hit is cr.mp->cr.mp->cr.rh… its one of the ryu hard challenge combos i think. go MP->MP~LP->HK~MK (i found same timing between the MP’s and the MP and HK as is recovery of MP, might be wrong tho if consider spacing etc). you can then apply this timing to the MP->FP in ‘something’->MP->FPxxTatsu
ITT: People are too retarded to remember that very few games are this reliant on 1-frame links, or that while previous 2D fighters ran at 60 FPS there were about 5 frames of animation for a given move instead of 60.
HAI I AM AN ONLINE SCRUB, IT IS BEYOND MY UNDERSTANDING THAT CHARS OTHER THAN RYU EVEN EXIST
oh dear, does it hurt that you cant even be proficient at a game? let alone life. come on little boy, let the frustration out, you’ll show all the cool kids at school eventually…once they make life a little easier that is. who decidied we need all those fraction of a second retorts in arguments, come on, atleast give me 10 seconds to think of a reply, your arguing with the other guy’s wit, not his reaction times… opps
re the post, my bad, thought i had replied to this in the ryu thread. yes, i like ryu, and by your definition, probably an online scrub (ie id beat you). the fact remains, he’s in the game. i dabble in most chars, but i play a lot of dhalsim too.
