Also Blacklock, I haven’t played Tekken in 10 years. But I wouldn’t be opposed to coming down and checking the new one out. I’m not a big fan of the series but the machine at GW does look pretty impressive, so I’ll try it.

Looks like I am gonna do a Tekken 6 tourney at my Gamestop on October 31. Not 100% on the date yet but will get confirmation on it this week.
I am not a Tekken fan, but my boss is so I wanna do this for him. So if you like T6, please show up for me :wgrin:

Yes, we are just talking tekken here. HOWEVER, I am open to combining with another regularly scheduled gathering in Columbus if there is interest and (more importantly) enough space. I like the SF community here and while i don’t play other games, I appreciate fighting games as a whole. I attended SB4 and had a GREAT time watching high level play everywhere I turned :china:

It would be great to see you and any other tekken fans in attendance for the sessions. I have stopped in to check out a few of the gatherings downtown and they’re not too shabby. If you and others have the time, feel free to stop by. Yes, the GW T6 BR cabinet is amazing. It’s a genuine cabinet with Japanses sticks. It’s BEAUTIFUL :wow:

Where is your Gamestop located? I’ll be sure to pay attention and show up for the tournament. Would you have it on the PS3? I’m assuming you would. Please, anyone that plays tekken should show up. What kind of prizes are you thinking of awarding for the winners?
I work at the Lamesto…Gamestop on Morse Rd, close to Karl, next to Kohls.
We’d play it on PS3. Also, could use another TV/monitor or 2. Just let me know.
That’s actually one of the bigger gamestops I know of around here, so wouldn’t be a bad place for a small event like that.

like, is there a midwestgamers.com or an ohiogamers.com ect? ive been debating on starting one myself… so putting events and gatherings together would be easier.
ive always been disappointed on how columbus was lacking a public gaming scene. ive stopped by some really wack ‘lan centers’… looking like an empty subway with monitors, hoping to find an active scene… but still havent found anything.
I think its cool that you guys are meeting up in each others places but id like to get it out in the open… hence why i suggested my bar. some one mentioned something like it may be expensive… last i heard, it was maybe $50 to rent the place out for the night. Its small, but i assumed that the groups would be small starting out… and as long as you guys brought some money to order drinks, pizza, sandwiches ect (bring my bar business and depending on HOW much business… i might be able to persuade the boss to not charge us… hes only 24 and enjoys games too.[wtf, my boss is 3years younger than me]) Have a $5-20 dollar cover to enter… (depending on how many people may turn out/how big youd want the prizes to be ect.) should be more than enough to cover any charges if any.
as for the age thing, theres a 2nd door from the outside that leads to the downstairs area, we could set it up so no one had access to the upper bar from downstairs to avoid underage drinking ect. (boss will not budge on that). maybe wristbands ect.
also, like mentioned before, this could be just a good once/bi monthly thing. or we could switch off to other types of games (im not sure if you guys are strickly fighters ect… ) but theres always halo, madden, nhl, fuck… mario kart or guitar hero… ect. that could be thrown in the mix…
im just throwing out ideas. ive never ran anything like this before, but id like to attempt it eventually before i get too old. it would just require some help from others. shit, i even know a guy thats pro at capturing/streaming/and does a lil commentating in cleveland. if this was done right, im sure he’d be willing to show up and stream/record it. (you may have saw him at SBIV playing with a KEYBOARD… wtf right? hes actually pretty good with it… but thats a different topic.

if its the same one ive been to, that store was always in terrible condition… games on the ground… boxes everywhere… but its been quite awhile since ive been there.

i use to work at easton and would make frequent stops over there.
not tryin to bash your store, i just remember walking in and thinking the place looked like it was just robbed on several occasions. 
Some of us have been talking about setting up a sort of club, with a public location and stuff for gaming. This sounds sort of like what you are looking for.
Definitely don’t ever remember this Gamestop being like that. I’ve been going to it since it was a Funcoland however many years ago. No offense, but have you ever actually been in a real ghetto before? The ghettos I know are like 1000 times worse than the Morse Rd area. Kinda reminds me of when Jinmaster tried to tell me he lived in a poor neighborhood…
Is it labeled with anything? I’ll tell Fugee to look through his systems. And I know Eric V’s SFAC, so maybe he took the wrong one with him.
btw, If anyone wants an SB4 shirt still check the SB4 results! I’m doing another run. If any of you guys in C-bus want one obviously it will be cheaper w/ no shipping, since I can bring them down to C-bus next time I’m there.

In otherwords : You want an Arcade. Also I think the only thing I’ve seen is like a Midwest Music Gamers community, which I occasionally lurk for DDR.
Which leads back to what DJ2Times was saying, personally I’d say if you combine both of your ideas together, we might have a winner. But then again, it sounds like you’re both looking to do a Game night.
Edit: As for Tekken, I think I told you last Thursday, but I would be interested if I had the time or place to actually sit down and learn it. Cast looks fun enough.

And yeah, that place could be a hole sometimes. Especially when it was starting to go out of business and be bought by Gamestop (all sorts of clearance toys and shit in bins all over the place).
It was also pretty crowded back then which can contribute to it looking bad. And they tried to have consoles set up all in the front that didn’t help the traffic and keeping things looking nice.
It wasn’t in a ghetto area, but the store looked kind of “ghetto” when it was in bad shape.
The one Tim works at is on the other side of Morse closer to 71. Much bigger store and in better shape.
i dont want an arcade. i personally would like console games to be its feature.
i guess youd call it a game night. but id always want there to be some type of prize for the winner every night. id think of it as a poker night… but with games… everyone bring your money… play, a couple guys go home richer. i wouldnt want it to be limited to just a few friends but open to anyone.
maybe thats what you guys already do… obviously im new, just trying to figure where everyone stands.
