Yeah, maybe crack kick lost it’s start-up nerf. Either way, this is MORE like it. I’m satisfied with this at least. IT’S SOMETHING
I just want some clarification on the walkspeed buff, it doesn’t just say forward like we previously thought.

Well the knife didn’t get anything useful BUT I’m pretty ok with everything else. LP CU -4F helps a lot, faster walk speed, slightly better backdash, and better F+HK for footsies.
nothing changed really since the FR build outside of the knife cancel change.
i’m not really “happy” but moreso “ok sure whatever”. I’m unchanged on how I felt with the FR build (slide buff, rock buff, crack kick buff, semi walkspeed buff?)
meanwhile fake rocks still punishable on reaction from fullscreen by Chun-Li.
Was the original c.MK buff -2 on block? But now it’s -3 making it punishable? I mean… it’s still a tough punish on reaction since c.MK tends to surprise people or it used to stuff moves. I dunno. I was just sorta looking forward to spamming c.MK , lol. Also, the -4 CU is great. I have a bad habbit of using that as an ender. Now not so bad, lol.
Wait a sec… this list doesn’t mention the hitbox on knife attacks being improved…

yea cr.MK originally was -2. -3 is still good and still safe if you’re spacing it (which we’d be doing anyway instead of point blank in their face.)
LP CUP being -4 is alright. Better than what it was.

“Strike invincibility” (aka vs everything but throws and projectiles). Since it becomes active on frame 7, it’ll trade a lot which can be a good and a bad thing, as it allows you to combo after you trade with a normal move (e.g. U2).

Unconfirmed. There was talk about forward speed but not backwards. Either way, 10% increased speed isn’t noticeable THAT much backwards, as 10% of “slow as fuck” isn’t that much faster.
Ok. well thawk and gief are going to be nightmares without EX CU, what’s the point in giving better invincibility but half pushback and no throw invincibility?!? It’s better as it is now indeed
Against them you would probably just use the improved back dash now
70% useless buffs 20% good stuff 10% nerfed. Overall result: positive
I think Cody will be better for sure. They actually added a couple of NOT gimmicky buffs (LP CU -4F, Walk Speed!)
I think the knife will remain a situational at best tool (I really don’t get why they didn’t give him a special cancelable knife normal when they gave so many characters a special cancelable far normal). Zonk FADC still useless. LK/MK Super still probably drops like crazy. Badstone still slow as fuck. Still no low hit confirm option whatsoever. F+HK still not able to hit crouching or beat stand throw tech situations. EX CU now throw vulnerable and will trade a lot. B+MP counterhitable on startup (fair). No change to HK Ruffian. U2 still punishable on air hit.
Cody still got a truck load of problems BUT he not only is imo OVERALL stronger in USF4 but he didn’t get nerfed to death like some characters (Sagat) and on top of that his 2 biggest nerfs (EX CU losing throw invincibility + more punishable on block and U2 losing 40 damage) are nothing in comparison to the nerfs Deejay got.
I know I’m usually the negative nancy and I still think Cody will struggle HARD in some MUs but I think he actually got improved enough to be worth sticking with
I agree he didn’t get nerfed badly like other chars, but the point is that he’s in the same position like he was in AE2012 tier wise. We can only hope the delayed wakeup really makes the difference for him, otherwise it’s going to be again about guessing, maybe ex zonk, 50/50s, block, tech throw, damn how do i block that fucking kunai and so on for most of the time

Idk about the rest of you, but I’m very pleased with the changes. I never relied on ex CU to get out of throws anyway. It’ll blow up crouch techs/block strings/frame traps better now.
Also, if you’re gonna try to use it to beat DPs, you’re doing it wrong.
Cody is going to be stronger in Ultra for sure.

Why would it be? They didn’t apply the -5F FADC nerf to ANY ex DP moves and Cody’s EX Zonk is certainly not a DP on top of that.
