Strider can get you some wins against newbies but you have to know your ISH to be good with him. His health being he primary reason pretty much anyone can TOD him free off a confirm.
That being said if you have good footsies and fundamentals you can learn him pretty quickly and do really well against others. He has some very effective tools that I feel a newbie could abuse such as bird bomb and S.H. Just depends on what you are looking for. Xfacor derp is just 1 REASON to run strider but knowing how to play him outside of that is what will make him effective.
Strider’s actually pretty difficult to utilize properly which is why you very rarely see him on point. He CAN actually work on point, but he requires A LOT of work and specific team construction. Most successful player using him on point is Clockw0rk probably, but he doesn’t even utilize half of Strider’s tools so it leaves a lot to thought as far as optimal Strider play. Using a hitbox is probably the best way to play him as well.
Strider in the anchor position is very powerful because he’s really good solo. He might actually be one of the best characters in the game solo (top 3 likely) since he can pressure safely, mix you up assistless, and overall has a really strong neutral game.
Strider for beginner? I disagree. Vergil is far and beyond easier to play once you get past xf3 Orbs. And even then, most Strider’s don’t know how to utilize it effectively.
What is ISH? I dont really have Marvel fundamentals yet but i’ve had experience with actually playing neutral game and footsies in sf4, even though that probably wont’ carry over very well.
Ish isn’t an acronymn like most other things posted, I was just saying in general you have to know all his tools and weapons like BB, IOH’s Cross up Air QCF L, tic throws options selects etc…
Why a hitbox? Im guessing the easy of instant overhead and dash jump
instant overhead
Also definitely think Hawkeye should have been added to synergy list. As he can pick up vajra knockdown, vajra compliments his zoning game well. Can do left right mixups with his command jump etc.
It was supposed to be out on Saturday, but I ran into a problem converting the project into video. Should be out by tomorrow though as long as I’m able to properly convert it.
Strider’s best friend is doom…anchor strider is the best but I like level 2 with doom beam…usually you can get the one character kill and then get a TAC combo to finish the deal.
Doom beam is pretty good for everyone, but I feel that Strider benefits more from Disruptor/Tatsu/Greyhound if he’s on point. Plasma Beam is just too slow, though it’s good as an overall assist. I wouldn’t say Doom is his bffl though.
I didn’t see you mention how strong his Formation C is with knockdowns. That with assist such as bolts means you can manipulate the oppenents positioning and confuse them on where the crossup and the timing is. I do this a lot with Strider/strange in the corner something like call formation C (if they roll forward or back they deal with the bomb), Stand C to put them in stunxxcall strange assist, then you pick your teleport based on where bolts pushes. You can do Front teleports twice and one will cross up and the other will keep strider in front. Other than that video is pretty informative. However now that I think about it you can probably mention that when it comes to team synergy later in your series other than that nice video I especially loved the background music choices.
Those overheads are super hard for me on xbox pad lol. Even with the dpad my left thumb is too slow. I can do it with my right thumb though and then hit RT which is set to L+M+H but will give me a j.H. I might have to end up doing this super wacky looking method to go pro with strider.
