Clocks, how do they w0rk? Strider Hiryu Discussion thread

Ah. Man I figured 800 at least. Oh well. Glass cannon for sure.

The epitome of the term, mein fruend.

thoughts on vergil’s lvl 1 orbs like super?

apples and oranges, really…

the oranges look really good…

@ capcom’s apples.

I actually think it is going to be the Strider players who are going to be doing the most bitching…but I don’t doubt someone will be crying. In the end, probably a mix of both.

X23/Vergil/Strider?

X23 being the point character, Vergil as assist and secondary and Strider as anchor?

I think it’d be easier for you to battery with Vergil and DHC into X23, just saying. And while a lot of people are taking to the idea of Strider as an anchor, that seems like a bad idea. Turns him into Phoenix-like gamble with his lower health. He looks a better fit for point.

Hey all, I haven’t been keeping up with many of the updates for UMvC3 and Strider, so I apologize if this question is easily answered. When Gram (stationary sword slash) is used as an assist, does it have any special properties? Does it cause a hard knockdown (allowing for OTG combos) or a wall/ground bounce?

My bad, I should update the 1st post with assists. I’ll do that now. Gram assist is the :h: version that causes wall bounce.

PS, can someone remind which version of ame no murakamo Strider has as an assist? :l:? :m:? :h:?

If Strider’s health is 750k I wouldn’t really consider that glass cannon. Low sure but Zero has 800k. At first people were supposing that he had only 650k but I think it’s pretty much confirmed that he’s only 50 less than Zero.

Either way best way to not worry about getting hit? Just put him in the back with XF. With XF around you’re always going to die in the back any ways so might as well have souped up Strider with meter. His teleport kick assist looks really good so I’ll probably just throw that around for a while then run around with XF3 Ouro.

Maybe they did raise it a bit.

I think it is Ame no Murakumo H. The character select screen describes it as a Tilt Up, which baffled me and was the source of my inquiries earlier in this page. What does this assist do, such that it’s classified as a Tilt Up? I would think of the move as a direct-forward. I tried to find videos of it to learn more, but wasn’t able to see this particular assist in action.

A glass cannon has two parts: being made of glass, and hitting like a cannon. Strider is definitely made of glass, but he does not hit like a cannon. The only glass cannon in this game is Dark Phoenix.

“Unless you are a target of mine, you will never see me. If you do see me, it’s already too late”

When most stray hits lead to combos even Zero is a glass cannon. Ok, maybe plexiglass, but you know what I mean. We’ll have to see what kind of damage Strider gets once people hit the lab.

I’m thinking Vergil/Strider/Dormammu.

User/User/User, meter doesn’t grow on trees you know!

I guess Akuma in the back is the same kind of gamble? Not really buying that. It’s like saying Haggar in the back is bad cuz if you’re left with him then it’s over. Despite the fact that he gives your team clear advantages in the front that other teams dont have access to.

Plus everyone has low health when they’re in the back because XF is coming to kill off the last character any ways unless XF was burnt early. You die in this game no matter how much health you have. His vajira/teleport kick assist looks pretty strong and good to have anchored up for the rest of your team. He seems like he’ll be capable enough without assists any way especially if he has XF and Ouro in the back which he most likely will have with the meter that was built.

Wait, you’re using X-23 + plus Strider and you’re using Strider as an anchor? Don’t you want him with the ankle slicer as an assist so you can go for unblockables while orbs are up? I think XF level 2 with assists will be more bananas than XF level 3 with no assists.
