Claw's 2013 wishlist

Ok… lemme put it like this then lol.

The only “cheap” stuff in the game is the stuff stupid people do because it’s the only way they know how to win (aka “free” in the context that it takes no real investment of energy to beat those people)

crazy but wish they would do something with ultra 1 maybe make it safe at least it would be different if i all i can do is dash ultra with it. ultras = comeback offense/comeback defense we cant use it at all, DEEJay combo off scarlet terror would be amazing. Just for the hell of it id like ST to recover faster hate how his jump is so fast but st he goes for jordan hangtime. Doesn’t it bother anyone that gens worst moves are better version of all ours, wall dive has more utility, waterfall kicks, roll, maximum spidey. None of these would break him for low tier heroes it would take alot to break vega. Also for a character thats only mix up is throw, overhead is one of the slowest of the cast and unsafe.

Where did you see this? Or are these ur suggested changes? Don’t get me hype in vain man

As for me I would be more interested in RCF’s first hit hitbox being expanded forward than having a faster startup. A 2 frames faster whiff won’t help more than a regular whiff, from my point of view. =)

no these are wishes.If giving LP RCF an extended hit box will blockstring or hit outside of point blank range when i cancel a normal i’d be happy with your solution which was my intention with faster start up just wasn’t sure why it doesn’t work currently. Still want 42f charge tho

You only said RCF so I thought you wished also hp rcf would start up in 7. lp rcf doesnt need faster start up but what Trias said.

I just thought of an idea, taking mask and claw off can be canceled. Example would be cr.mk x mask/claw off x cr.mk. or cr.mk x mask/claw off x ultra. Mask/claw off can also be done in mid air (for coolness factor :D). Ex mask off is full invincible or only fireball invincible (hakan ex oil).

You mean, just like Dan’s super taunt ? Like you see Claw taunting, you go for the punish and then BAM cancel into ultra 2 ?

More seriously, I wonder what they could be preparing for us aside the 3 buffs they picked. They’ve announced people are not expecting half of the balance change they’re planning to do. We’ve been without news for quite a moment now. =)

yeap! not sure about doing that to ultra since you won’t have much of a charge after doing the move. but man, being able to mask/claw cancel would be so awesome

Some random ideas that have been kicking around.

  1. Give L ST low invincibility and M ST high invincibility, until airborne (3f). Right now, these specials are almost worthless. They are slower, have less range, and do less damage than Hk ST. Making them situational reversals would help Vega’s wakeup, but only if you are smart.

  2. Let Vega juggle into EXFBA/U1 after 1 hit Hk ST.

  3. nj.HK causes juggle on Ch. I liked this addition in SfxT. Anti-airing with Vega can be risky, so It would be nice to have the opportunity for more reward off a good read.

  4. Adjust frame data to allow comboing into a cr.Lp/cr.Lk off of a meaty df.Mk.

  5. Allow for guaranteed U2 after Ch df.Hk. (Make them fall slightly slower)

  6. Give U1 an armor point after Vega leaves the ground until he touches the wall.

  7. Make cl.Mp +1 on block.

  8. Make his super work like is does in ST (I’ll keep dreaming)

Implementing all of them would be too much, but seeing a few of them probably wouldn’t break anything.

Neither are worthless. LK is good for meter build and you can vary all versions for positional use. ST doesn’t need invincibility. He needs a way to keep people out without having to resort to a huge risk of jumping.

2 is an okay buff but I think there are more important ones to focus on

4 I recommended to be +4 on hit back when combofiend asked for input on Vega.

5 would be better off making them launch higher instead

6 I asked for armor on EX RCF and invincibility on U1. Armor would be a good option as well so that most normals cant stuff it.

not sure what 7 solves. you have no charge and you need +2 at least to make a decent frame trap +3 to make a good one.

8 I prefer A3 version. I want the 4th slam back.

if ex rcf has armour, then we will be able armour cancel it into fba…sounds pretty sick, hahah

God damn my head hurts. I just spent an hour playing this game, and I think I won maybe 5 matches out of 50 with Vega. All I wish for in the next patch is that he isn’t ass tier. I see tons of characters getting super off mid combo launchers, off throws, off a jab, other characters can cross up, have wake up game, have pressure game, can combo off the ground bounces, off wall bounces, and tons of stuff that Vega doesn’t have. Ooh, I cr.mp poke someone and got FADC… seriously… ugh. I dunno, I wouldn’t even know what to ask for because he sucks. I hate the fact that I like playing Vega and he’s my main in every other game because when my friends play 4 and I have no idea who else I want to play, and I just feel frustrated.

So all I can request for in the next patch is some tools that doesn’t make him ass anymore. What that is, I dunno. Maybe a cross up. Maybe an armor breaking long range poke. Maybe a reliable close range AA. Maybe faster start up on his pokes. Maybe a little more walk speed. Maybe a little more horizontal range on his jumps. Maybe the rhythmic bouncy roll he had in the 2D games. Maybe CH being safe to low attacks. Maybe being able to CH or EXFBA off cr.k>hk.ST for combo damage. Maybe armor breaking FBA so opponents can’t simply FA it and DC safely out of the way. Maybe a little larger Izuna Drop throw box so that FBA can be dangerous as a mix up. Maybe make the hitbox on FBA a little better so that it can’t be jabbed out by tons of close range attacks. Maybe extend the range of his hitboxes to the tip of the claw. Maybe a bit more range on ST so that it doesn’t just pass through someone half the time they’re close to it. Maybe have ST hit low on start up. Maybe just copy and paste SFxT Vega into SF4 since it isn’t so far fetched that someone could get 10 hit combos off a jab, so why not Vega. I dunno, something, ANYTHING. He shouldn’t suck this bad.

At least they’re making his jab links a tad easier, right guys? Right??? I give up :frowning:

all i can say is ya doing it wrong, read a few posts up and all will be explained. his only problem is reliable AA. he’s a defence character, he doesn’t need all that offence. one thing i will complain is the useless super. that’s about it

oh, he already is the fastest character walk speed wise, and hehas a long range armour breaker, st.hk

st.hk still needs to be close to get the 2nd hit though. Vega has never been a defensive character, he’s always been a poke, hit and run guerrilla style you-can’t-catch-me character with excellent offense and terrible defense, low stun, and low vitality. In SF4, he doesn’t have either. Weak offense, and weak defense since he has no tools to respond to pressure. If being forced to block an entire round because you made 1 mistake is a defensive character then every character in the game can block just like he can and many have a way to get people off them, unlike Vega.

On wake up I’ve been jabbed out of ST, EXFBA, Ultra 1, pretty much anything I could throw out to get some pressure off. It means I’m stuck blocking in a game where you do not want to get stuck blocking a single attack. This is a game highly focused on offense, pressure, mix ups, and having a ton of tools and options, all stuff Vega lacks. I see stuff other people get to do and I’m like “Seriously?” What it isn’t is the old games Vega was in where you could be a danger by poking and not worrying about armor from FA and DC away to safety from that range.

The funny thing is I play o.claw in ST, where he doesn’t have ST like n.claw does to get people off and have as a reversal. I’m used to blocking when I make a mistake. So you’d think I’d be used to it, but the key difference is Vega has the tools to deal with ST, amazing offense and great normals to keep people out, no dashing to worry about, no focus attacks to safely negate your dangerous pokes, longer poke range, better speed, better jump range, 0 frame throws to help deal with meaty attacks on wake up, the list goes on.

It doesn’t matter anyway, because this Vega is not ST Vega, he is not Alpha Vega, not CvS Vega, not even EX+@ Vega. He’s Ass Vega, and that won’t change, ever, because he’s an old school play style character in the SF4 engine. And Capcom seems to like it that way.
