Claw's 2013 wishlist

I think Mianpeide must have understood this by now. For variety’s sake, let’s change topic.

There is a Combofiend interview where he does say pretty much anything, but nor does exclude slight mechanics changes. And there’s this one from Ayano.

Here we’ve got our +1 hitstun on cLP : to make Claw’s links difficulty more in line with the one of others characters. =)

Personally, I don’t think we’ll have more than little tweaks. Which is fine by me, as long as they go int the right direction. And they seem to. =)

I don’t understand the behavior against mian here as if he is an enemy. Cool down people, he just expressed his opinion.
Not because of the reset, but I would like a fester slide too. As we cannot fadc it, we would benefit if it became faster overall. less start-up less recovery. Also that counter hit combo, cr.mk-cr.hk becoming a non counter hit combo would be great if you ask me in non-meter situations.

The problem with cHK having less recovery is that it would become a frame trap when done meaty.

We can at the moment finish at +0 on block from max range. If devs only took 2 frames out from recovery, we’d be up to +2. You’ll admit that be strange if our sweep gave us the best frame advantage of our whole normals arsenal. ^^

So I believe that’s why they gave us 13 additional active frames, just so we can’t get better than +0 from our sweep. FADC could seem legit, at another end, 'cause the only way to effectively use it would be backdash. =)

From another point of view, Dictator can have +1 from his sweep, but the whole character looks like imba/easy mode for me anyway. ( ‘-’)

if faster cr.hk, would be awesome as anti air, use it to escape jump ins

I can think of plenty of reasons a faster slide would rock. Same for a safer one. Resets just aren’t one of those reasons.

while I appreciate the compliment, just so you have a bit more understanding of where everyone is coming from:

Vega’s changes have been debated forever, and there’s a general consensus that’s been developed over the years as to what should be changed and more importantly what priority some of those changes are (and what some of those changes shouldn’t be). While it would be nice to have a faster slide, it’s far from being up there in terms of importance. Time spent working on a faster slide is time not spent working on something we really need. So it’s fairly easy for people to get defensive about abnormal changes being requested without pretty rigorous testing and valid arguments to support that type of claim.

A faster slide isn’t necessarily safer, and a faster slide isn’t very descriptive in all honesty.
Faster could be less startup, less active, less recovery, or increased distance in the same amount of time (actually “moving” faster in other words) or any combination of the above.

There’s a good chance that if recovery was reduced that the blockstun would also be reduced to compensate.

Except the recovery AND distance is crap when it comes to jump ins. I think that would fall more under the increased distance one and it would need to be pretty significant.

the downside of this, it doesn’t do anything for safe jumps, to relieve pressure, or to get the opponent off, and it does little to keep the opponent out

are you sure that a blocked max range slide is going to be close enough to frame trap?

I didn’t say or imply faster = safer. In fact, it seems really clear to me that those are two completely separate statements.

I am. =)

As a matter of fact, after a perfectly meaty slide, you could still link cLP into cMP . =)

*This argument was brought to you by Trias the Argumenter. *

ahhh meaty.

I seemed to have missed that word in the original post. I was just thinking of a max range blocked slide.

i thought max blocked range slide and meaty for slides like that would have the same frame advantage… as in perfectly meaty slide = max range slide…

^They are talking about the space left between the characters after the slide gets blocked.

oo, how did i miss that part…clearly i’m not too bright in posting on forums

we all suck at reading Niah lol

to be fair this is what happens when I make a 1 am post

The Seth changes put a smile on my face that I cant erase. No more mindless tanden engine pressure.

Although I would trade every nerf to removal of j.mp. j.mp of Seth, Ryu and Gouken are the cheapest thing in the game right now. “I have hit you with this air normal which is nearly invincible, has an OP hitbox and now I can hit you with anything. Here, eat my ultra”

And Vega’s all like, “My ST and your air normal traded at max range. Maybe I can combo ultra this time? Maybe?”

And the game answers “No, they are shotos, they can do cheap things. You cannot.”

Nothing cheaper than something free. That’s my 2 cents

Who you’re calling cheap, dude ? =o

Spoiler

It’s an ambiguous statement, but I use it in the context of the hyperbole of value (cheapness) being related to cost (free).

I hope so. I wouldn’t have known what to do if the hatemails I receive suddenly changed into me being a context of the hyperbole of value. =D
