The reason I disagree with that “decent” word of yours is because sLK/cMK and PoM don’t deal a lot of damage. This hurts Vega’s ability to regain the life lead and it doesn’t encourage the opponent to care /respect the threat. At all times, Vega is in a position where the risk for him is greater than that of his opponent… including his offense. The reward, on the other hand, is generally less than that of the opponent. So why should the opponent care about anything you do?
This is why I fought so hard on CU for offense based buffs and only on 1 good defensive based buff. Let him keep his weak up close game since fixing that would almost require a revamp of the character. Add armor to EX RCF to give him a tool around pokes, a comboable overhead so that the opponent actually has to respect it and give Vega the opportunity to regain the life lead on someone simply set on holding downback and reacting (his only 8-2 matchup), increase the hitbox size of his claw attacks to enhance his mid range game, and reduce startup on cMK to accessorize his low game. It was either that or increase the blockstun and hitstun of every move across the board by 1-2.
I’m not saying we’re tool-less. but we can’t rely on whiff punishing/kara throwing every match. That’s the way it is now.
I’m just gonna throw my 2 cents in since the subject is being discussed again. My biggest gripe is Vega has no comeback potential, we have to grind too hard and make godlike reads to get matches off tournament players with exceptional characters. All they have to do is get a hit confirm into ultra or combo into it. Both ultras are situational as phuck and hard to bait a good player into biting. The game has been out long enough for people to know their timing on safe jumps, not to jump in carelessly or chuck plasma at Vega when Ultra is charged up. I’ve had ex scarlet terror stuffed so many times by opponents normals that it makes me ill. It’s in desperate need of invul frames and has never been a viable anti air or reversal. The least of my worries is Capcom saying, quit whining, we’re making cr. lp easier to link. There, be happy. People that have been maining Vega since the beginning of Vanilla in 2009, as myself and many other character loyalist here, should be able to do 1 frame links consistently offline. It’s something we’ve had to live with as Vega players and should have mastered the art of linking cr. lp offline. The real issues with Vega are being masked by throwing us a bone thinking it’s really gonna help so much by being able to mash cr. lp like it’s some kind of gdlk tool. Why not give us a reversal to get people the hell off our back, a reliable anti air, ability for comeback potential with making our ultra’s more useful. I’m not even going to comment on our super because that was a dud by design and better off using your meter in a more constructive manner. Just ranting my frustrations. Don’t mind me.
100% agree with this. I assume most Vega players win over 50% of their games. This would validate what I’ve said earlier about the average Vega player being far more skilled than the average player of most other characters. The thing about this is:
-regardless of how good or bad the “matchup” is the fact of the matter is that fighting an opponent who is as equally skilled as the Vega player or even slightly worse, will always be an up-hill battle. The character holds the player back THAT much.
-because the character holds the player back and Vega players have gotten used to it over the last 4+ years, I can almost guarantee that decent buffs to Vega will feed a perception that Vega is broken. If Vega is brought up to the average level of all the other characters, you will start seeing people like Chris King, Jozhear, Tatsu (if he returns), El Cubano Loco, German Luger, Zeus, and other Vega players placing top 8 consistently.
I’m not saying that this will be good or bad… but don’t be surprised if it happens
I still find it hilarious that they listed “Cosmic Heel (down forward + HK) can now combo into U1” as a ver. 2012 update. It’s the most implausible combo I’ve seen. Catching a jumping character right at max range, then immediately hold down back, and charge just enough that you can input the ultra forward and catch the opponent before they reach the ground. Aside from the fact CH isn’t an amazing anti-air anyway, the fact that you have to do a nearly pixel perfect hit and then you have a couple frames after you charge to pull it off makes it extremely difficult in a real match. If U1 comes out faster, then it will be slightly easier to combo, but it still probably won’t be fast enough that you can do it on standing opponents. Why not just allow ST into U1? Nearly ever other Ultra in the game catches characters in whatever falling state they have…
Well, it was just a minor fix. It was stupid that we couldn’t juggle U1 after a CH.
They didn’t buffed because that would help Claw do damage. They fixed it because it is more stupid to have a CH that don’t juggle to CH U1 than… post the fix on the changelog.
Bad being a very sketchy term. Right now its not really an option, but things could, could possibly tweaked in a way that it would be. I said: It would be fun to me.
While I wont be as “real” as pedo over here, I have to agree. Resets aren’t really worth it unless you have a way of both forcing the opponent to stop blocking, AND provide an answer for DP FADC. Vega really has neither and a faster slide isn’t going to change that.
Vega needs to appropriate tools for a decent offense first. THEN we can worry about resets once that’s fixed.
How my original comment was NOT: The most beneficial idea for Vega and the game would be…
I dont think its the to-go thing as I already explained.
For real, its very good all people are not enjoying the same thing. Its been said before.
On a sidenote, you do also want them to ask whether you think something would be fun. What youre trying to do here is to express your disregard for different voices. And thats ok. Fucking ass inferior (im trying to adjust to the tone of the forums – hey maybe thats also the reason theres not that many people around)! But Id rather not choose to speak like that.
Listened, and understood that beforehand.
I do accept everyones thought, which I stated already. Everyone has the right to suggest anything and comment anything and is not forced to a certain premise. I made myself clear that given “suggestion” is not meant as the best idea, because its not. Im aware of that… many would not consider me to be a horrible player. It is a thought like “it would be cool if Vega was/would” (Im pretty sure I even said it about exactly that way in the first place) - so, needless and obsolete to repeat it being a ("#¤%) bad idea.
Thus, what I do not accept is answering with ridicule and aggression. Thats counterproductive for everyone in every sense. I liked Vegamans response, giving more substance than just “uuuh, horrible shit”. I really enjoy kindness and stuff, you know.
I also came to understand that Im way too touchy for this whole thing, so I will keep low in the future.
I think I dont oppose you on the notion of fun,… or I unfortunately dont seem to be getting your point! Hoping Vega gets all the right tweaks he needs.
Have a great day!
I have been lurking on this discussion and felt inclined to voice a more neutral perspective. I think that the issue that most people have been trying to, most ineloquently, address is that the simple addition of the faster slide would have little to no conceivable effect on Vega’s current play style. In what situations do you believe the faster slide would make a noticeable difference? You did briefly state that you know it would require other tweaks to be applicable. Perhaps, if you expounded upon that point, your suggestion would have a better reception. Also, more clarification as to what you mean by “faster” could be useful in understanding your point. Faster start up? Faster recovery? More distance covered per frame of animation? To what degree? As it stands, it’s difficult to understand what would be more “fun” about this faster slide, but perhaps we’re just overlooking some key aspects of the suggestion.
