hey man do you make it out to any of the fight nights in the area? smoothcat works all the damn time and im tired of being the only damn chun player round these parts
I just skimmed through this whole thread and holy shit there’s a lot of fun info I forgot about or neglected to put into regular practice. I made notes so I can start implementing some of the stuff into my style again.
Anyway, here’s a combo that works on crouching opponents in the corner:
J. RH, cl. FP xx EX Kikoken, cr. MK xx EX Kikoken, B+MK, B+MK, D,U+MK.
Does 441 damage and 715 stun. If you substitute sweep in place of the B+MK, B+MK, D, U+MK target combo, it’ll do 417 damage and 710 stun.
Also here’s an updated list of characters Ricky Tam’s combo (cl. HK xx EX Legs, EX SBK midscreen) works on (for SSF4AE):
Ryu
Ken
Gouken
Akuma*
Chun Li
Bison
Vega
Balrog
Sakura
Rose
Dan
Gen
Ibuki
Dudley*
Cody
T Hawk*
Blanka*
Zangief*
Seth
Dhalsim**
E.ryu
Oni*
Yun
Yang
*These characters don’t require you do a half circle up motion to connect the full EX SBK midscreen.
**After cl. RH x EX Legs only
…That being said here’s another combo implementing this technique:
J. RH, cl. RH xx RH Legs, FADC, cl. RH xx EX Legs, EX SBK
Does 450 damage and 826 stun (396 and 705 stun without the J.RH at the beginning)
475 damage and 856 stun on characters who spin out.
Another thing I’m working on is figuring out which characters can be hit by cr.MK xx RH Legs~MK Legs. I’m not at home so I can’t work on it now, but for the characters I know it works on so far, it can be used as a subsitute to cl. RH x Legs or cr. FP x Legs as an actual low move that can hit-confirm into full Ultra 1.
The list so far:
Akuma
Juri
Makoto
Dudley
Fei Long
Dee Jay
Cody
T Hawk
Guy
Bison (Dictator)
Ryu (6 hits)
Ken (6 hits)
Honda
Seth
Gouken
Dan (6 or 7 hits)
Chun
Dhalsim
Abel
Sagat
Guile (6 or 7 hits)
Blanka (6 hits)
Zangief
Rufus
Fuerte*
Vega (Claw)
Balrog (Boxer)
Rose (6 hits)
Yun (7 hits)
Yang (7 hits)
E.ryu (5 hits)
Oni
*His Idle animation dances around like Sakura so you get anywhaere from 6 to 8 hits. Sakura is much less likely to go beyond 5 hits though, so it’s not really worth it.
You’re not the only Chun player in the area. I just usually don’t have time to make it out to Framingham.
@TheRealJudgeD - I noticed that you live in the same town I do. Where in Weymouth are you?
ahhh thats good to know
@Wave - Haven’t had a chance to make it out to any fight nights yet, but I do plan on coming through at some point!
@Ninevolt - I’m in East Weymouth, right near Walmart. Hit me up for some offline sometime
I live like 2 minutes from Walmart. I’m down for some offline.
What are your best resets? I was trying to think of a reset combo setup that works well on a non xbl and I came to the realizations that I don’t purposely put them into my game at ALL
-I think this is considered a reset for chun but it’s nothing new to anyone would be waking under a character after an air to air j.lk (weak sauce I know)
I like the reset after st. mk anti-air… you can play high-low-throw off it.
In the corner, focus crumple, lvl 1 focus dash forward cr. lp dash forward will cross under them (great way to reset damage off a dizzy). Not in the corner, I think you can get a safe crossup from that.
Most of her resets seem like they’d come from anti-air.
I guess you could consider stomp mixups resets… Hitting with the tip of your foot from d/f roundhouse sets up a nice situation for you.
The one I use most is cr.mk xx Hazanshu, for example after cr.fp xx legs (if thats called a reset)
AA cl.mk/mp
This is a little corner mix-up/cross-up dealie that I’ve been using…
It only works on Hakan, boxer and Abel. It’s one headstomp in the corner followed by one fierce hit. If the fierce connects, chun crosses up and can combo into it. If it’s blocked, you don’t land in the corner and can follow up with a blockstring, throw, etc. Not infinitely useful but it’s pretty safe.
I have a little vid:
One of my favorite ghetto resets is Focus Crumple, delayed cr.LK (Reset), walk up Throw.
i had no idea that the loop involves 1 frame links that shit needs to be plinked for sure then
i use this a lot, j.lk, dash under, lk hasanshu(from the other side) into BnB, is a real mindfuck when mixing the nemo string/tick throws set ups
the other one i use is mid screen insta headstomp, cross up lk into BnB, great to mix it with tick throws and such
Wait a second - you can start with rh legs then mash mk and it becomes mk legs!?
Yes.
If you only do the first five kick inputs, you get a few kicks of that strength Lightning Legs. If you do four more kick inputs of a different strength, it will extend the Lightning Legs combo using whatever strength button you pressed.
yep
Well duh on the fifth input kick being lightning legs of that caliber… but a few posts on the last page made it sound like I could START lightning legs with rh (i.e. 5 roundhouse inputs, and then mash mk to get the frame advantage from mk legs)… Cause like I can do rh xx rh legs in my sleep, but I have immense issues with doing anything into mk legs.
I don’t understand your post.
You CAN start lightning legs with HK. Then mash MK to get MK Legs. That is how people are doing the cr.HP xx Lightning Legs loop.
What’s the stun on mk.hasanshu > cr.lp > st.hp? It seems like if I’m getting my oppenent into stun it’s when I land this combo. I’m not infront of a console right now, but I was curious cause that shit seems to do a lot of stun.
