Chun-Li Combos and Glitches

This is the place to find Chun-Li’s combos and glitches. The first post will be updated as new discoveries are found.

Combos Using Links

– C.LK -> C.LP -> C.MK -> FP Kikouken

– SC.RH -> LK Lightning Legs -> S.LP -> S.FP (only against standing opponents)
– FK Hasan Shu -> C.LP/C.LK -> EX Legs (if only the tip of the FK Hasan Shu hits, the C.LK won’t reach)
– FA Crumple Stun -> Forward Dash -> LK Lightning Legs -> C.LP -> C.MK -> EX Legs

Bread and Butter Combo
– C.LK -> C.LK -> C.LK -> EX Legs

Other Good, Useful Combos
– CS.RH -> LK Legs / EX Legs
– J.FP (2 hit, airborne opponent) -> EX SBK

Combos That Don’t Use Meter

– J.FP (2 hit, airborne opponent) -> Land -> Head Stomp x 3 (depending on where the opponent falls in relative position to Chun, you may need to dash forward before jumping again)

Combos With Super or Ultra

– Tensho Kyaku Target Combo -> Super or Ultra (usually only done in the corner). For the timing, the super/ultra should activate just as the opponent is near Chun’s head.

– J.FP (x2) -> Super or Ultra (works on both grounded or airborne opponents. You should start charging as soon as you jump. For airborne opponents, you’ll need to wait for them to fall to the appropriate level)

– EX Legs -> Ultra (Charge while in EX Legs animation - As soon as the EX Legs finishes, do ultra. Only works in the corner)

– Hasan Shu -> Super (no cancel needed)

– Jump-in Attack -> C.FP (1st hit only) -> MK SBK -> Super (no cancel needed. The timing for the super requires you to do it the second Chun recovers from the SBK)

– Jump-in Attack -> C.FP (both hits) -> Super (no cancel needed)

– Jump-in Attack -> C.LK -> C.LP -> C.LP -> Super (no cancel needed)

– Jump-in Attack -> C.MK -> Super (no cancel needed)

– Jump-in Attack -> C.MK / CS.RH -> LK Legs -> Super (no cancel needed)

– Jump-in Attack -> C.FP (1st hit only) / CS.FP / CS.RH -> EX Kikouken xx FADC Forward -> B.MK -> B.MK -> Tensho Kyaku -> Ultra

I think methods of EX legs should be posted, it will also help the newcomers greatly.

My current method, which isn’t as effective as ones I heard is cr.short, cr.jab, cr.short~forward~roundhouse~forward~short. The ~ stands for a piano, nearly simultaneous press but not quite. This technique is very sloppy and not recommended.

What was the one guy in the original Chun thread posting? It looked so clean and smooth if it works, he said something like cr.short~forward+roundhouse, cr.short~forward+roundhouse and the EX legs come out? Please confirm someone, this method seems so freakin sick.

fuck man… i really wish i could post this in the closed thread.

Az, would you mind posting up some of chuns challenge combos, like the hardest ones and or the ones that MAY have a place in high level play.

The one I’m stuck on now is - Jump in RH -> C.MK -> LK Legs -> C.MK -> Super. I can’t get LK Legs to come out quick enough, and any sort of piano method attempt gives me either MK Legs or EX Legs.

The only other interesting one I’ve seen so far is J.FP (2 hit) -> B.MK -> B.MK -> EX Legs -> Ultra. Note that you don’t do the Tensho Kyaku, just launch and then EX Legs.

hmm that first combo looks tight! have you tried pressing round house 4 times in the air ( would be hard but 3 presses would be easy) then doing cr.mk (5 presses total now,push mk twice if hk was only pressed 3 times) and finishing with a lk for the 6th press and regular legs???

dont know if that will work as i dont know how regular legs work… ie, if the mashed buttons only count as kicks but not as regular inputs or if the last input is the only one that counts towards whether you do lk legs or hk legs or ex legs.

another method which you could try would be hk in air then mash lk twice before landing> cr.mk and mash lk 4 times…

however i know from experience that doing any more than 3 “presses” during cr.mk is HARD AS FUCK, if you plan on them canceling the cr.mk.

for instance, the way i mash out cr.mk xx ex legs, is:

(cr.mk, cr.lk) x3, REALLY fast, and it’s still hard to do…

but yeah you’ve probably tried all that. let us know how you solve the challenge!

also, you could always use turbo to cheat… :badboy:

So I played for like 5 hours today and confirmed that cr.short ~ forward+roundhouse x 2 gives the EX legs combo from 2 shorts. godlike.

ok,just got the game, 360 version… have ex legs been nerfed??? they only hit 3 times on standing ryu, cant remember how many times they hit versus him on arc.

cleanest way i’ve found to do cr.lkx 3 ex legs:

cr.lk(pause) cr.lk x4(two will hit EVERYTIME, no timing needed) short+forward.

jsu fierce seems to be an INCREDIBLE mixup, it links to both super and ultra just like diagonal jumping fierces but does more damage. do it late for one hit. or just do nothing into shorts, set this up after a blocked jumpin or crossup.

The EX lighting legs method I grew upon to is cr.lk(double tap) cr.lk(double tap) on reaction, hit short+forward x2 also listen the block or hit sound and react from there.Does the game engine recognize short+forward+roundhouse x2 for EX lighting legs?

excuse the ignorance but what do CS. and SC. mean, I’ve never seen those modifiers.

Thank you for this. EX lightning is too easy now. :smiley:

i believe CS. means close standing im not sure about SC

question about her ex kicks to ultra

ive been seeing videos of people linking her ex lightning kicks to ultra… but i cant seem to get that to completely connect… am i doing something wrong??

Try it on Sagat. They need to be falling a bit later. There was a list of characters that it can’t have the clash on, so you only get a few kicks then they drop. The only ones I can remember are Abel, Balrog, and Honda for now.

Stuck on that one right now also, kinda difficult :sweat:

lol that one was pretty easy for me…

jumpin hk (land) cr.mk (clr.lk, cr.hk, cr.mk cr.lk) makes the legs come out every time (5 inputs only)… you have to be fast and CLEAN tho… it helps if you practice the cr.mk into short legs in practice mode with the input display on. if you have any inputs that display horizontally on the same line that means that you pressed the inputs on the SAME FRAME and it only counted ONE INPUT.

for example: ( . ) represents a button press:

example 1:

1 .
2 .
3 …
4 .

example 2:

1 …
2 …
3 .
4 .
5 .

line number 3 from the first example is the cuplrit here, there are two button presses but since there on the same frame they only count as ONE input, so even tho the buttons were pressed 5 times the legs wont come out.

example 2 shows 7 buttons being pressed but since two sets of those buttons occur on the same frame ( rows 1 and 2 ) only one input from those frames makes it in, so the game actually sees 5 inputs ONLY.

this rule only counts for buttons that are pressed BEFORE the fifth input, if your fifth input is with a short youll get short legs, if its with roundhouse youll get roundhouse legs, if it is two buttons pressed simultaneously ( or very close to that) you’ll get ex legs etc etc.

also it goes w/o saying that you’ll only get out the legs if you can.

the normal your canceling is actively cancelable (not in recovery frames)

or if your currently at neutral ( like when you mash and then land from a jump)

yeah… it only took me 3 minutes to beat that challenge…

goukens lvl 4 challenge on hard is… frustrating… i keep missing the shin shoryuken… been stuck on that one for like an hour and a half…

hope some of that helped… although i’m sure you passed chuns already.

okay so you can fully connect chuns ultra off a lv2 or a lv3 focus attack

for the level 2 focus you have to do the back dash method b/c they crumple faster

to do it you have to be already charging during your focus. as you flash white let go of the buttons and tap back simultaneously then after the dash just finish completing the ultra motion and do f, b, f, 3K

from a level 3 focus you can either dash forward or dash back and get all the hits to connect

to do the dash forward ultra you have to input the dash commands really early. there’s a certain point in chuns focus attack animation where if you input dash commands she wont dash until after she hits them. as soon as you input f, f you have to immediately start charging. as soon as she dashes up just finish the ultra motion

the back dash one is the same as the level 2 focus

do the forward dash if you werent already charging and you can do the back dash one if you were charging.

okay that’s all.

An addendum:
You can also land a full Ultra off of a Counter Hit Lv1 Focus Attack. You need to use the backdash method to get it to hit, as I’ve had no success doing it from a forward dash.

The inputs for the backdash method of landing Focus Attack into Ultra would look like this:
(Assuming the Chun is facing to the right)
Hold back, press MP+MK, release MP+MK, immediately tap and hold back to start charging, forward, back, forward + KKK.

For Lv3 FA dashing forward:
Hold forward, press and hold MP+MK, right before the Lv3 FA attack comes out hit forward then immediately start charging back, release MP+MK while the FA is animating, then after the forward dash you can wait a little bit then tap forward, back, forward + KKK.

In all cases, your Ultra should start right before the opponent crumples to his knees as he’s about to hit/hitting the floor. For the CH Lv1 FA, there are a few visual cues that can help: your inputs for the Ultra should be done as Chun is ending her back dash or when the black ink cloud from the FA disappears. For the Lv2 FA into Ultra, you will probably need to wait a split second after the back dash so you have enough charge to do the Ultra. For the Lv3 FA, you have plenty of time to charge whether you forward dash or back dash out of the Ultra.

hi guys, new here and new to sf iv.
not sure if this is worth mentioning but
Jump-in HK -> s.HK -> EX Legs -> EX Legs -> EX SBK (EX SBK only connects if in the corner)

That sounds like serious damage. Does it connect with all the hits of the SBK?

Wow. Kicking fiend over here.
I wonder if j.HP (2 Hits) will work to start the combo off.
