Chun-Li Combos and Glitches

That jab to fierce combo is gdlk. I use different variations of it. (Usually doing one or two hits, which reduces the probability of the opponent being able to reliate with a counter).

Really good mixups using tha jab string could also be executed after close hsu attacks too, albeit the timing is mildly strict.

I know. It was mostly based on YOUR advice that I decided to buckle down and spend the countless hours in training mode to get that shit down cold! I am SOOOO grateful that you took the time to lay it all out for me (this was months ago and I don’t even remember what thread it was).

The neat thing, is that based on distance you can get in more or less jabs and the rythem is all the same. If I get a deep jumpin or a dizzy, I’ll actually do c.jab x2 > st.jab x2 > st.fierce just to mix it up.

But Wait, there’s more!

If you nail this combo, you get another combo of equal value for FREE!

Once you master jab to fierce for chun, you get the following dictator combo as a bonus (has the EXACT same timing):

st.jab > st.jab > st.short > st.short > st.rh

Woot!

The fact that it links into super is TOO good.

Lemme throw this out there. Does anyone here know about the st. strong linking to Ultra on counter-hit? If so, do u think there’s actually any use for it other than stylin’ in training mode?

HEY NOW!!!

lol wasnt that ME… in this thread?

lol if it wasnt, thats fine… i’m a stickler for details… however heres my original post in this thread from pg 34:

just remember that, this DOES wiff versus certain characters depending on there stupid breathing animations and also it will wiff on certain characters that it HITS but if they block it it will not and vice versa… it can be really weird… but still, when i was playing i was using this liberally with GREAT results!

also to the poster that asked for block strings. one that i was using ALOT was a simple walk in and do cr.lp >st.mp.

i saw nuki doing this alot in a vid and so i started using it… its pretty awesome, and really safe, also combos if the jab counterhits. once you get the opponent used to it you can throw in a st.fp instead instead of the medium with relative safety… just beware that this string CAN be hit by quick level 2 focus if you are really abusing it with absolute disregard for thought… which i admit i am quite fond of doing :arazz:

Another fun way I’ve started using super:

cr.lp -> cr.lp -> cr.lp -> cr.mk xx Super

You have to link the jabs, not chain them, for there to be enough time to charge for super.

What I like about this is how you execute it. Start holding down-back once you do the jabs of course, and once you do the cr.forward, slide from down-back to down-forward, then back to foward kicks for super.

:lp::lp::lp:…:mk:…:3k:
:db::db::db::db::db:…:d::df:…:l::r:

The leniency of the input allows the down-forward to count as the first forward motion for the super.

Thanks man (and to Para just for the principle of giving kudos, lol). I try. Its players like MM, Nuki and Shizza who inspire ME to learn new tactics or simply refine my fundamentals. It always comes down to that. I’ve also appreciated all the time and dedication you invested over the past several months. I am just trying to do my part to help where/when I can.

Just picked up Chun a day or two ago, since she seems like a good character to help me learn defensive and patient play. My aggressive game is all good, just gotta work on that defense lol

A link I discovered that I didn’t see in the first post was

S.LP -> C.LP -> S.LP -> S.FP

Seemed to work on all characters, and when it was blocked it gave me some nice push-away distance. Shrug Still a noob with her, but just wanting to share it.

Just curious though, are her Hard trials even worth learning how to do? They don’t seem that practical IMO. flamed

HSU-> super and mkSBK->super are very useful

Eh. I’d love to say that’s a solid combo, but you’re better off doing one of these variations:

cr. jab, st. jab, st. fp
cr. short, cr. jab, st. jab, st. fp
cr. jab, st. jab, st. fp --> Super (if available)
cr. jab. cl. st. rh, normal or EX legs

There’s really little need to alternate your attacks between two sets of crouch and st. attacks as expressed in your example.

AS for the Trials – yes, they’re worth doing, if only to gain a better understanding how to effectively link jabs/shorts (which for most seem to think is liberal mashing). There’s also another trial that gives you a nice taste of using normal LL, which most do by careful linking or plinking (see the Saiyko boards for more details).

hey, i’m just wondering what method do you guys use to combo cr. mk to ex legs and also cr. hp to heavy lightning legs?

I’d like to say thankyou for this thread. I use Fuerte, but I’ve found Chun-Li to be quite a favorable alternate She can dish out damage so much better it’s just funny

i think chun’s most damaging level 2 focus attack combo is level 2 FA light hazanshu, one short ex legs or not ex is light hazanshu, standing or crouching jab to standing fierce. or crf to roundhouse legs with a further 5 inputs for the forward legs extension to sweep

Is kioken useful for anything other than spacing people like Blanka/El Fuerte who fly at you randomly? That thing is so slow, if it was a half circle front then it would be so much better. |:(

Having a Kioken option after that flipping cross over (down forward Fierce Kick) would rock.

^kiko is great to throw in at the end of block strings to gain a little chip damage and possibly catch your OP off guard. It’s main purpose is zoning tho. If used in the proper setting and timed right, it is a decent AA. You can toss in an ex legs after someone lands on one for additional damage, or dash and stomp.

As for after df rh, you don’t get enough charge after the flip itself, but if you throw in a cr lp or cr lk you can tack the kiko on after, though its not really that great of a combo. There are much better ways of capitalizing after landing a df rh: cr lp > st fp / cr lk xx ex legs > ultra (in corner) / instant stomp > cross up j lk / etc…

Sometimes I use kiko FADC -> do stuff.

^60% of the time, that works 100% of the time.

you dont’ have to use it like it’s a Hadoken or Tiger Shot, try to throw a light kikoken and walking after it, if they block you can try to sweep, throw, hasanshu, bait a reversal or keep the pressure on them, if they jump you can anti-air them easily.
When you are trying to keep your opponent away it can give them a hard time combined with your long ranged pokes.
If you do MP xx kikoken at the end of a blockstring you can walkup and mantain the pressure on you opponent or AA them if they jump.

Hey that’s my quote :slight_smile:
