well what i do is i take my first two fingers, and i slide my finger down from HP to HK so that it doesnt come out as a cr. HK, and then i jus quicklynot like SUPER quickly but fast slide the fingers from HK to lk and then back, then immediatly mash on MK, then i double tap the HK for the sweep, you can plink, but for me personally it just comes out more that way. Dont be so quick to slide the kicks cause if you do you might accidentaly hit the MP button as well as the MK button for a focus cancel and that would make you loose two super bars AND the combo.
I usually get this combo in a match and i have done it before. It isnt that hard once you REALLY practice it. I recommend practicing it off of a focus attack since either that or a jump in is the most likely way you will be able to land it (i usually just land it off a focus crumble in a real match though for the stun and ive just etched it in my memory to do it off a FA from the countless hours of training mode lol)
Ah thanks for the tip. I remember in a video or something saying that the pros lay their fingers over the intersects of the arcade stick allowing them to press all kicks and punches at any given time. I’ll try that some time since it seems easier because there’s just too much grip on my fingers to slide across the buttons like that.
that is actually what i do and yea i know what video you are talking about, i dont remember what it was called itd be great if someone could find it…but yeah.
you SHOULD get in the habit of pianoing the kicks for the legs(slide for cr.fierce legs) since its probably the most consistant way of getting out mash moves (i would know i played jibbo and i saw him do it with gen and he gets it 100% of the time on what he wants) and ever since then ive been practicing piano and have been having great succes so far.
c.FP xx HK LL is really a good combo but It’s just to damn har to do physically =) It really makes Chun a more dangerous opponent but I don’t want to play with a glove on all the time. And witout the glove it’s impossible for me since I have kinda sweaty hands, the sweeping motion won’t work.
I can pull the slide method pretty consistently without a glove, just gotta practice. And as Cyber said, make sure you don’t slide too fast, having a focus cancel come out really throws off your rhythm in a match. Not only do you lose the meter and the combo, if you dont get the dash out in time to recover, you eat free damage! That can swing the momentum of a match pretty quickly… BTW (insert none related topic here) I landed CH st mp > Super in casuals yesterday, pretty sweet feeling!
SC = standing close CS = close standing. They are interchangeable.
I meant to post this a couple days ago when it happened, but my mind has been all over the place…
So, while playing some casuals online, I had two wtf moments. First was against an Abel. It was the third round, we both had low health and he threw out a random ultra. I waited for his ultra animation to finish and as his attack is coming, I throw out my ultra…and his connected! A couple matches later I had the same thing happen versus a Balrog!
I was under the impression that whoever activates the ultra second lands it, this is the first instance I have experienced on the contrary.
Is this a character specific thing? Perhaps just an unfortunate glitch that I happened to fall victim to twice?
I usually just wait for the blocked ultra to throw mine, against Abel I just figured I would take the win sooner, and against Balrog I didn’t have the health to take the chip damage.
Noob question, hence the “Street Fighter newb” to my left. Is this combo possible? I land it like 60% of the time. Not sure if it’s cuz my opponent tries to get out of it but here it is:
Also anyone notice that Rose’s D/F+MK goes under Chun Li’s ultra? My buddy did her slide randomly and it literally went under Chun’s ultra. W. T. F?! Maybe this is old news or I’m seeing things, but shit!
You cannot link standing medium punch from a cr.lk ever.
You can link a standing medium punch from a cr.lp IF and only IF it’s a counter hit.
Standing and crouching light punch gives you +6 frame advantage on hit, so you can link any move 6 frames or less after it(Standing heavy punch, crouching medium kick)
And perhaps Rose’s slide goes under the ultra, but the question is: Why are you doing your Ultra when Rose has the ability to do a move?
I see. As for Rose, I was going for chip damage. I knew she was going to croak through block damage, but for some dumb reason, my friend decided to do her slide out of panic and it stopped Chun Li right in her tracks.
I played around for about an hour last night with the c.FP xx LL combo trying to execute it without swiping across the entire stick like a madman,
A method that I found somewhat effective was swiping from FP to HK with my middlefinger and then quicky piano on the kick buttons. (should be possible to do the swiping with the ring finger but i didn’t feel as comfortable doing that). There were some moments where I had about 70% consistency with the combo. But it was also quite the tiring motion to do so towards the end it went kinda crappy =)
It’s a really powerful combo especially c.FP xx EX LL but I’m gonna need a lot of more practice before it’s combat ready ^^
I find it really tough to find situations where that comes naturally. It’s not often that I stand close enough for the cl.HK to come out right. But yeah that is a powerful combination and relatively easy to do.
My current most frequent use of EX LL is via c.LK > c.LK > EX LL. Truly the definition of BnB =) Also c.LP > c.LP > c.LP > FP is nice but that last link is still a bit tricky for me.
i agree, however, the close hk compared to the bnb of c.lk> ex legs is much easier to land then a cl. st. hk>legs. though within agreeing with you, if you want to punish or want to do c.lp, cl.st.hk, ex legs(tougher to land though), i say go for it, damage is worth it
